We stayed in this as a hotel, and it's absolutely fine.  Clean, big rooms, very friendly service.  Bathroom very good.  Sea view location (hence the name).  Parking limited but the King Alfred is only a short walk.   Decent pub round the back.  Excellent value, rating reflects price

Excellent value, clean and friendly

This was my second time visiting Brighton and I have to say this hostel is the bees knee's. More like a hotel but super friendly people and staff, a great breakfast, warm atmosphere and comfortable beds. The front desk person helped me a lot and was very knowledgeable about the night life. Thanks Dorey, you're an absolute treasure. I would highly recommend it.

A Great little hostel by the Sea

Stayed here 2 nights, 1 night in a 4 bed dorm and 1 night in a single room, the dorm was very basic but what you would expect for the price, the single room was far more plesant and still really good for the price, only thing I'd improve is the breakfast. All in all a decent stay if your looking for a low cost stay.

Good for the price

Good hotel, nice breakfast, lot's of variations of different food types, good view outside window we could see the beach from our window which was beautiful.
However, lot's of stairs so if you have lot's of luggage i wouldn't recommend, because we had suitcases and struggled to get out luggage up and own the stairs.
Furthermore, rooms are small, so i wouldn't recommend for bigger families.
Also windows were broken, so there are hazards.

Good Value for Money

Booked this hotel through booking.com for £56. The room was clean and had coffee and tea making facilities. Our room was facing a busy road but have a sea view. Unfortunately the shower was quite cold. The cooked breakfast was adequate but no bacon. It was a self service breakfast. Parking near the hotel was impossible, so paid an extra £10 to park at the back of the hotel.

Cheap and cheerful

Booked 2 beds in a mixed gender dorm room. The first room we were sent to had a lot of people there who appeared to be semi permanent and there was only one bed available. Next room had 8 beds. Bathrooms small and dank. Rooms small and basic. Breakfast cornflakes and toast with strawberry jam. The kitchen was small, smelly and grubby. The washing machine and dryer are also in the kitchen making the usable space even smaller. Large dining area but seemed to be filled with men who knew each other. It was a bed and shower but not much more.

Basic accommodation

This place was the cheapest to stay at for Pride Weekend and it meet the needs of what I needed, a bed to sleep in. The staff were friendly, and answered any questions I had. However, I didn’t like that I had to pay a deposit for the key card to the room. This was £10.00, which I had to draw out of the cash machine in the hotel ( I didn’t have any cash on me) this machine cost me an additional £1.75! I did get this money back when I check out. 

The beds were not the best. And you have to make your own bed with the sheet they give you at reception, and then return the sheets at the end of your stay. I didn’t like this, I expected the beds to be made! 

The rooms were not really that clean and the room I stayed in didn’t have any blinds or curtains, so when the sun rose, so did I. 

The breakfast I was disappointed with. I expected more than cornflakes and toast with jam. There was no hot food! 

I gave this place three stars as it meet my needs, a bed to sleep in for one night that didn’t break the bank with the price of it. However, there needs to be some changes to the cleaning routine and what they serve for breakfast.

Pride Weekend

£38 for one night in a double room. not the nicest place i’ve ever stayed in but we would come back as we thought it was a reasonable price. checking in/out was easy and receptionist was friendly. we had to pay for parking but we expected that in brighton area. only a 10 minute bus into the city and a minute walk to the beach.

you get what you pay for

The guy in reception was very very rude. We payed for 11 days a double and when we come at the hotel they give us a single room. It was dirty. Ugly hotel. Never go back again. Terrible and dirty. They didnt say hello and goodbye to us.

Horrible

Management and room are not to meet for the price you pay yes it is good value but the service is minus 10 so not to be recommended at all. Beds are uncomfortable toilets are to horrible kitchen not practical and owner is not to be trusted place to avoid in Brighton
