My husband and I stayed here for two nights while in the area. It was highly rated on Booking.com and was very reasonably priced and in a perfect location for what we needed.

Denise is very friendly and accommodating, as was her husband. They allowed us to arrive late and check-out a bit later.

The room had all we needed and was spotlessly clean. The decor is a little dated and the bed very soft, but it was warm and provided everything we were looking for. The TV (although very high to watch) had loads of channels, there were tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, a fridge on the landing and ironing equipment. There were even biscuits in the room and chocolates on our bed. The shower was a little weak in pressure but it sounds like it was turned down because someone else thought it was too hot.

Breakfast was delicious! It cost £8 per person but it was well worth it. The full English was so fresh and hot and there were lots of other options with yogurts, cereals, fruit etc.

There is secure parking onsite too.

All in all, it was good for what we needed.

Basic but with everything you need

I booked this B and B again on short notice after deciding to take the ferry from the Hoek of Holland to Hull and was relieved they had a room available. It was my second visit and will be my stand-by when I go to do research at the Hull History Center. As usual, Richard got my bag up the stairs before I even noticed. 

The breakfast is especially good for vegetarians: if you notify Richard and Denise ahead of time, they will make you some tomatoes, mushrooms, and baked beans. The yogurt selection is also nice, and the full pitcher of orange juice is a rarity in English guest houses. The hosts are mellow, helpful, but unobtrusive.

The house is in a nice residential neighborhood; yes, it is on a busy road, but so are most places in Hull. Listening to music when going to sleep will ease that issue, as will earplugs. It's also easy walking distance to a variety of restaurants from the cuisines of the world. Will definitely be back next year! Highly recommended for women traveling alone as well since they are very respectful and the area is safe. The fridge for my evening glass of wine is also always appreciated.

Another Great Visit

After seeing largely positive reviews, We thought we'd give Cornerbrook a try for 3 nights and we were glad we did. The room was spotless, ample big enough and had a nice en-suite. The breakfast was great too! The only downsides were that the house is situated on a very busy road and the traffic just never stops, also the shower was a bit feeble. Don't let either of those things put you off though because its great; the owners are very helpful too. We would definitely return.

GOOD LOCATION FOR VISITING THE AREA

Stayed for 2 nights attending a training course. Very clean, tidy, organised, good bathroom, very nice bed, all facilities very good. Well worth the price at £46 per night. Would definitely stay there again.

STCW Training at HOTA

Stayed for 2 nights with friends to visit Hull as it is UK city of culture. We left the car in the car park and used the bus to get to the city centre. The rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was good, whole fruit, cereals, yogurt, cooked food etc. This is not included and needs to be booked. You can hear the traffic at night but if you're used to this it won't bother you, my friend used ear plugs. Nice toiletries and tea,coffee etc in the rooms. Excellent Indian restaurant, Tapasya, a short walk away.

Ideal Location

Excellent location, immediately next to the bus stop for the City centre. (Bus drivers are excellent by the way). Room was comfortable, excellent breakfasts and the owners were very helpful. Car parking is off road and very secure.
