We stayed here towards the end of Sept for 3 nights.  We arrived and noticed the signs on door saying please use hand sanitizer before entering and saw the dispenser, unfortunately this was completely empty so either check it or remove the sign asking people to use it! I appreciate it has been hard on hospitality industry but if they want people to have confidence in using them again then need to be on top of everything like this.  Particularly as the rates in Wales while we were there was much higher than England and mask wearing was still compulsory.  Unfortunately there were people who did not adhere to this either and were not told about it.  We were shown to our room which looked lovely but have to say that sometimes looks can be deceptive.  The bed was quite poor quality and so not very comfortable and the cleanliness of the room was not as it first appeared, there were a number of cobwebs. We went down for breakfast on the first morning and were asked what would you like, there was no menu or we were not told what was on offer! We saw that there was juice and cereal on a table but were not told to help ourselves or anything and we asked what was there to choose from for cooked breakfast.  We had a full cooked breakfast and we had booked on checking in our time for breakfast and there was only another couple that came down after us and we had come down a bit early but somehow our breakfast was like if it had been cooked some time ago and kept hot, not freshly cooked to order.  Like I say it may seem trivial but when there are only 4 people booked for breakfast surely they can have their breakfast cooked fresh while they are eating their cereal etc.  Just lacking a bit on things like a menu or even saying please help yourself to juice and cereal or can I get you anything else, just little bit of hospitality if get me.  Also we had had to ask for cups and spoons in our room as we had none on checking in.  They do do meals but only on certain nights and they had outside pods and the dining area and bar, it all looked very nice and just with a bit more effort could be better.  The second morning seemed to be better and the breakfast didnt seem like it had been kept hot for some time.  So maybe they were short staffed or whatever, dont know but the whole time we were there we tried each time for the hand sanitizer to be refilled and it wasnt.  We take our own anyway but ......

In some aspects it was great but then bits not so good.

We had a lovely, clean and tidy room and the hotel was nice and quiet. Thank you to the staff, especially the manager, who catered for a vegan and a coeliac and was very thorough with making sure the food was safe to eat. It is greatly appreciated!

Very helpful staff

Well firstly, the check-inn time was 5pm which I thought was later than most hotel check-in’s. However, you could request to check in earlier. So, I requested 3pm - I did not receive a response. Ok, so we arrived at 4.45pm to a closed hotel/bar. Went back to the car to wait. We checked in at 5pm, not to the best of welcomes to be honest. It was more a case of matter of fact. Not a friendly professional welcome you would expect.
We were asked if we would like a table for food that evening- which we did. Only to be told that it was 6.30pm or nothing. We were asked if we’d require breakfast- despite breakfast being included in the price. We were told that breakfast would be served between 7 & 9am, which I thought was extremely early given that it would be a Saturday morning.
We were taken to our room. (Room 1)through a door at the back of the restaurant. As soon as we walked through, the smell hit you. Kind of a damp, musty smell. This was also the smell in the bedroom. 
The room was basic. If I had paid £60 for the room I may be less critical. However, this room was £105. Absolutely not worth the money. The was a layer of fine dust over all surfaces in the room. The radiator cover was broken, the windows were dirty & there was water left in the kettle. I booked a double room - we got two singles pushed together. Poor quality mattress, pillows and bedding. I had a very poor sleep. I expected a much higher standard for the price. 
The rooms could be so much more. Attention to detail required. If you are charging over £100 per room for 1 night then higher quality bedding, mattress should be fundamental. 
I would not recommend this hotel. Very disappointed.

Disappointed - not worth the money.

Stayed in their three bedroom house accommodation, the fridge was dirty, the oven was dirty, the towels that were meant to be white looks grey, 2 bedroom lights busted, bedside lights not working. The Manager was not very helpful (arrogant).

Bad experience!

On recommendation from a friend, we booked two different Sunday roasts today: turkey and beef. We also ordered puddings. The service was great when we arrived and the place looked spotlessly clean. Lunch was great - no less than 8 veg, lots of meat and a Yorkshire pud filled with stuffing and extra gravy., It was delicious. We had to leave the puds until tea-time but they were just as delicious as homemade. We will be using this great service again.

Great Sunday Roast takeaway

A group of us work on the local Refinery and for the past 2 months or so have been having the Takeaway Sunday Lunches delivered to site , with around 10 to 14 meals I was expecting someone not to like somthing but no from the time it arrives its heads down ,  quality and price is fantastic , even the vegetarians in our group have praise for the standard of food that improves week by week and when its first-class in the first place is no mean feat , delivery is promt and food hot , keep up the good work guys .

Takeaway Sunday Lunches

stayed at the highgate for a few weeks. The place was always spotless and the staff and owners couldn't do enough for you. Every morning I had a breakfast and tea nothing was a bother (thanks Sharon).

Massive thanks to the staff at the highgate and all the best for the future.

P.s the food was amazing

Lovely place and amazing staff.

My partner, I  and our little girl popped in last week for a meal, we all throughly enjoyed it and have to say it was so nice to eat out again!! 

We are so glad that we chose here and will definitely be calling back!

Post lockdown meal 

Spent a few night there with a work colleague. Superb room, very comfy bed and nicely decorated room. 

Evening food very good value and a decent breakfast 

The best thing about the place is the staff were very good, friendly and welcoming

Great stay

The restaurant was clean and the staff very friendly. We had to move table to the back of the restaurant due to a noisy group of men at the bar. It did spoil our evening as they were very noisy and a bit worse for drink.

I ordered a vegan burger. It was just a veggie burger and very dry and over cooked. The bun was bland. The others in the group didn’t have vegetarian. 

Not for me I afraid.
