My daughter & I, with my 11 yr old grandson were booked to stay at the Valerie Camb B&B. We arrived around lunchtime, after driving up & down the road several times...no indication anywhere that this is a B&B. We planned on leaving our car (as confirmed by a previous phonecall), but after a long wait, and a very unhelpful dialogue with the young man who finally opened the door, we gave up & drove into Cambridge to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We returned at about 5pm, and after another long wait the door was opened by a lady who showed us to our family room, which can only be described as  squalid. The door to the room wouldn't shut at all, let alone lock! There was a washing machine parked in the corner of the room, covered with what looked like an old curtain and a sheet. No towels in the grimy bathroom, & the beds were not made up. She explained that she'd had a previous late booking, & the covers were being washed...give her 10 mins & she would put them in the dryer!!!! Really...only one set of bedding? She said if we didn't like it we could go to another B&B...which we said we would do. She then proceeded to become very abusive, screaming & shouting at us, completely out of contrrol. She was right in our faces...inches away, yelling that we had picked on the wrong one (???). Unbelievable! We tried to leave, but she stood in the doorway so we were stuck inside the room. She was extremely aggressive, all the time gesticulating and swearing at the top of her voice. We finally managed to get out, with all our bags & bagage, & she followed us outside still screaming abuse. I have never known anything like it. We drove up the road and parked at the side of the road for a few minutes, my daughter shaking & in tears, and my grandson absolutely terrified. Stay at this place at your peril! We tried to book another hotel, but at such short notice couldn't get one, so in the end we drove all the way home. An absolutely horrendous experience...this B&B should be shut down. The woman behaved in an extremely aggressive and intimidating manner... to the point of being manic. We were frightened and shocked at such a vitriolic attack. I can't believe that Expedia/trip Advsor would promote an establishment like this, and will never book with them again.

Nightmare

Where to start!

We booked to stay here through Booking.com. According to the B&B you can check in after 4pm but if you arrive earlier then you are welcome to leave your luggage and park your car to catch the regular bus into Cambridge. This is what we had planned to do. We arrived at 11:20am, not sure if we had the right place as there was nothing externally to lead you to believe it was a B&B at all. The tall gates to the front of the property were tied together with a large chain looped six times around. After fighting the chain and making our way to the front door to enquire we knocked and rang the bell numerous times before a voice shouted out of a window "What you want?" Tried explaining we had booked for the night and told to wait. After nearly 20 minutes the front door was finally opened by a foreign lady who spoke pigeon English wearing her nightie and dressing gown! We explained again that we had booked for the night and wanted to leave our luggage and car so we could go into Cambridge. All she did was keep looking at our car parked on the roadside outside her gates and with her hand in front of her mouth the whole time kept repeating "You must book with Booking.com". After again telling her we already had a confirmed booking all she said was "You can't come in, you can't come in".  So much for the 'friendly staff awaiting your arrival'!

Can't comment on any other aspect of this establishment apart from the fact that it does just appear to be someone's bungalow and certainly not a guest house/B&B!

After much searching on the internet we eventually managed to find space in a Travelodge near Fenstanton. Most definitely don't recommend anyone attempts to book to stay at Valerie Camb. Fortunately Booking.com were able to stop our money being paid to this lady so we were able to find other accommodation.
