Wow! From the moment we arrived till it was time for us to leave this beautiful gem of a place we could not have been happier with our choice to stay there. Kelly and Alex were warm and welcoming and gave us just the right amount of attention throughout our stay. The accomodation was exeptional, tasteful yet quirky and it had a real sense of it being a home from home with such warmth that seemed to ooze from within the walls. They have clearly put great thought and effort into creating a stay to remember and 1 which we will certainly want to repeat. Within minutes of arriving we felt relaxed. The gardens were stunning and as for the breakfast choices...yum yum! I couldn't recommend staying here more

Outstanding and incredibly warm

Strand House is a beautifully and lovingly renovated very old half-timbered house with a very beautiful garden and great hosts.
The rooms are furnished with attention to detail, you immediately feel very comfortable. The hosts Alex and Kelly are always on hand to offer advice and support and are happy to accommodate their guests' wishes.
We always enjoyed talking to them about our activities and other topics.
The breakfast is particularly special, there is everything your heart desires, even "Poor Knights of Winchelsea", which are super delicious.
We couldn't have wished for a better holiday home and host. If our next trip to England takes us back to the area, we will definitely want to stay here again.

A highlight

Our first stay here and certainly not the last, we shall visit again. Set in the most gorgeous surroundings this little gem of a place is a real find. Clean, fresh and comfortable, my family and I loved it. Breakfast was a bomb, beautifully prepared and served in the shaded summer sun. Lovely room, lovely little bar and lovely hosts. You must go! X

Strand House, the most lovely little find.

Strand House is a delight. It’s steeped in history yet the rooms feel fresh, bright and have lovely touches throughout. Breakfast was really tasty, Alex and Kelly will happily cater for everyone. They have lovingly transformed the house and business since being the new owners and I wish them every success for the future.  

A short bus journey into Rye from a stop directly outside Strand House is a must. Rye is an ancient town full of life and quirky places to eat, drink and shop.

Couldn’t ask for more

We were delighted to arrive at the Strand. The attention to detail in every part of the building was perfect. The beds were super comfy and the charm shone through the room. 
The garden was lovely to relax and soak in the Sun and watch the Croquet. The cooked vegetarian breakfast was perfect along with great refreshments. A fabulous location surrounded by the beauty of Sussex. 
Thank you Alex, Kelly and Rosa for the most relaxing, serene stay.

A beautiful place to stay

Strand House is a perfect little gem in the quaint historic small town of Winchelsea.  Alex and Kelly, the new owners, have meticulously restored this old house, with love and care.   Attention to detail with beautiful little touches wherever you look.    Being a charactful 600 year old house ceilings are low - head beware if a taller person.   But this was more than offset by a cleverly designed  room which was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

A delicious breakfast (wide choice of options) was served looking out to the garden.

Alex and Kelly were very warm and welcoming and nothing seemed to be a problem.  They went out of their way to make my stay as comfortable as possible.  They succeeded.

They recommended places to visit and the local pub, the New Inn, which is a short walk away and served an excellent variety of good food.

I recommend staying here.   If in particular you like quirky, historic, character places accompanied by friendly and welcoming staff, then I very highly recommend a stay here.  I can’t wait to return……

Just returned from a lovely stay at Strand house . 
The hosts were friendly and very welcoming. 
Great breakfast . 
The room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean . 
There is an honesty bar and very homely snug and reception area . 
Will definitely return for another stay .

Lovely stay

Had an amazing stay at this beautiful house recently refurbished by present owners Alex and Kelly who go above and beyond to make your stay so welcoming. Room we had very quaint and 5 star for cleanliness.  Lovely hot shower and powerful and fluffy towels. The reception  is very inviting with an honesty bar and comfortable seating and lovely little cast iron fire. Good choice of breakfast , delightful dining area with classical music playing. Thank you to Alex and Kelly and good luck in the future with your venture.  Will definitely be returning soon if you have availability . Cheryl

Definate must !

A fantastic stay and hugely comfortable room. We were beautifully looked after and, in the morning, breakfast was as good as you'd expect. 

We particularly enjoyed the fact that we could get a bus into Rye from right outside Strand House (£2 a single) and the last bus back on Saturday night was perfectly timed. All in all, we could not recommend a stay there more highly

Strand House - a wonderful venue

Strand House is a charming property and we would highly recommend a visit.
Alex and Kelly are extremely welcoming hosts and clearly are passionate about Strand House and want everyone to have a fantastic experience staying, it is beyond the normal BnB experience.  
The rooms are stunning and charming; with low beams, white washed walls, quality bed linen and pillows.  Alex and Kelly worked hard to renovate it and have restored it to a high standard, the beds are comfy and the bathrooms are modern.  We had a lovely quiet nights sleep.
For dinner it's a short walk to a local friendly pub with great options, we would definitely recommend the Moroccan lamb.
Breakfast at The Strand was excellent; high quality produce, veggie options, as much coffee as we wanted, and served with a smile.
The town of Winchelsea is charming and worth a visit.
We felt lucky to be one of the first guests to stay after all the renovations, and would definitely recommend for a romantic break away.
We will be returning.
