I booked a 'classic sea view room', which is described as "very light and airy spaces designed to connect you to the outdoors"... yes, they are so dindgy and sad that you want to go outside and stay there.  

The room was at the top of the building - there is no lift/elevator.  There were some very kind young men who helped with the bags, but it was still a trek.

At first the room was freezing  - the radiator didn't work very well, but then the room was extremely stuffy.  

The carpet was stained, there was one small sad wardrobe, one chair (for a family room) and the radiator in the (very smelly) bathroom didn't work.  The tiny single bed was missing a wheel and so was on a slant.

We asked for another chair and someone dragged one up the stairs for us.

The pool and sauna were closed for maintenance - was not informed of this until arrival at the hotel.

The front desk staff were uninterested in any complaints, and neither was the manager.

This wasn't worth the £360 I paid for two nights and I feel cheated.  It was all a bit Fawlty Towers.

The good side?  The food.  It was excellent.  Go there to eat, but don't stay.  Apparently there's a much nicer hotel down the road.

Sad and overpriced - uncaring staff.

Works cannot describe how fantastic this venue is - my husband and I decided 7 weeks before we stayed to elope in secret and Sandy Cove was our venue. There was no request too big for them and baring in mind we live 5 hours away the bar staff made us feel so welcome, we felt like we had just walked into our local! I highly recommend this venue to anyone and we can’t wait to come back and visit! Thank you so much!

The most fantastic elopement setting 

We had an absolutely brilliant time at the NYE party in the beautiful 'Venue' building which felt like pure luxury! Drinks on arrival and even a magician circulating the room and performing card tricks. It was so lovely to be out for a whole evening with our 8 & 9 year olds, keeping them entertained and happily fed. The food was such high quality and beautifully presented with 2 starters (my fave being an enormous scallop) followed by a main course of beef wellington, which was so soft and delicious, before 2 desserts! After dining, the live band started up and they were excellent (lead singer reminded me of Stereophonics frontman ), playing a great range of tracks from across the decades, which my daughter absolutely loved. She had us up dancing for the rest of the night and before we knew it, we were counting down to midnight. Would definitely go again and recommend to anyone as well worth it.

Fantastic Family New Years Party!

We confess to being fans of Sandy Cove, all year round. The location, the views, the accommodation, the service are all first class.
The beauty of summer and spring, the colours of autumn and the view of the dramatic sea in winter have you transfixed with a tipple or cream tea, breakfast, lunch or fine dining, they have it all.
Nothing is too much trouble...we'll be back!

First Class experience 

We had our wedding at Sandy Cove and it was absolutely fantastic! Amazing venue, stunning views, professional and friendly staff and wonderful food! We can highly recommend staying here and having a wedding here.

Beautiful and perfect ❤️

Our elopement wedding at Sandy cove was amazing. The views are spectacular and make wonderful photos. All the staff were incredible and so friendly but professional. Couldn’t of wished for anything better. A truly amazing day   

Elopement wedding stay

Absolutely beautiful place, with fantastic staff, lovely rooms and wow what views.
Lovely food and great service in the restaurant and bar. The swimming pool is clean and warm as well as the sauna and loungers. 
Loads of parking but sadly only 3 disabled parking spaces.

Beautiful Sandy Cove

We got married at Sandy Cove in February 2023 and it was the absolute best day. The staff, especially Sammie, went above and beyond to help make it a wonderful day. Sammie would drop whatever she was doing to answer any questions we had and her and the rest of the staff made the day run so smoothly. Everyone kept commenting on how smoothly things went!
The hotel, ceremony room and venue are beautiful. We went for the crystal food package (most basic) so we were a bit worried but it was absolutely amazing, really delicious, and the service was fabulous. 
We stayed a few nights in the hotel and our room was beautiful. Our guests rooms were lovely as well and the views are incredible. We ate in the cove restaurant every time and it was delicious.
We got to use the pool (more amazing views) and the sauna and steam room which was really relaxing. 
I would definitely recommend sandy cove as a wedding venue. We actually hadn't visited the venue before the wedding but honestly we didn't even need to, because everything was taken care of for us.
I would also just recommend sandy cove as a place to stay, we will be back next year for sure. Also going in winter was still lovely, and it was so peaceful at the hotel. We are so happy with our choice of venue and we were so sad to leave. We'll be back! Thanks to the whole team. 

Incredible wedding venue

Our son just got married in the Sandy Cove-what a great experience from start to finish-staff so attentive, wonderful food, rooms, perfect wedding venue with panoramic views.  The food and service in both the  Cove restaurant and the wedding venue were superb.  Cannot fault anything ( and particular mention to Sammy the wedding co-ordinator who worked tirelessly to ensure the day went smoothly)

Wonderful wedding experience 

WOW!!  What a fantastic hotel! We booked the foodie adventure break and stayed two nights, this included a cream tea on arrival, three course dinner both nights and breakfast.  We were in a sea view room and the view was exceptional with a small balcony which we managed to sit out on the first evening.  We were the only guests on our first night and were made to feel very welcome by the staff who were all lovely and very happy to help, nothing was too much trouble.  The real highlight was our evening meals in the Seacliff Restaurant - exceptional!! All three courses were cooked to perfection both evenings.  If you would like to explore the coast of North Devon this hotel is perfect.  Just a few miles from Combe Martin and Ilfracombe but lots of other places are easily accessible.   If you get a chance a stay at this hotel is a must.  We will definitely be visiting again.  Thank you to all at Sandy Cove for making our stay so wonderful.
