We had a great stay at the cow and calf hotel for a week. The room was very clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated. 
It was always immaculate when we got back at the end of the day. 
It also had great views and a great location. 
We will definitely return.

Great stay

Location is beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Room was spotlessly clean. Excellent Sunday lunch despite being exceptionally busy. Would definitely return and happy to recommend.

Highly recommend.

Very clean, great facilities, spacious clean and modern decor. Bed better for those who prefer a hard mattress, only there one night so didn't check if they had soft toppers. Friendly and helpful staff, fabulous value for money with excellent breakfast.

Great value for money

We were very happy with our stay and would recommend staying here to anyone exploring the area. Check in and parking was easy, staff are friendly and helpful. 
Price for the night was great and much better value than ones we looked at in Ilkley town. It’s worth having breakfast as there’s lots of choice, from a full English to pancakes. We had eggs Benedict which were excellent. 
Our room was a good size and spotless with a lovely view to the moor-you can walk to the cow and calf rocks from the pub in a few minutes where the views are amazing. It’s a 5 minute drive into Ilkley town which is pretty and well kept with a Betty’s tea room and lots of restaurants. Bolton abbey is 15 mins away and great for walks.

Excellent with super views

Booked via Booking.com and not informed the single room only had a skylight so only way I could see out was standing on the bed! I asked at the bar what time the bar closed and was told 11pm so somewhat disappointed to return from my function at 10.40pm to find the bar had already shut on what was a Saturday night!! Whilst the room was clean the shower pressure was underwhelming and my biggest disappointment was breakfast which I had lead to believe from the reviews was award winning. Alas not. I actually thought the breakfast was on par which what they serve at a Weatherspoons . On top of this tea was served in a mug with a teabag and hottish water from a urn something I would accept if I was staying at a Blackpool B & B but not at a £100 plus room a night.  

Disappointingly Underwhelming

Stayed one Sunday night. Lovely room on second floor but unfortunately no view. Bathroom ok but shower was not brilliant. Room was spotlessly clean and bed very comfy. The Sunday dinner was superb and my partner said the steak  pie was excellent. Breakfast was ok. Good value for money

A walking weekend

Massive disappointment. Bar closed around 10.15 pm and we were told we would have to go to up our rooms at 10.30 ish as the bar area was closing also. And the staff were pretty rude also, so unlikely to go back.

Early to bed !!

Unlike some of the other reviews, I found the Manager helpful and he fully accepted my complaint and gave a full refund. It was my first time to stay at Cow and Calf and like everyone says, it’s in an unrivalled position with fabulous views. I’ll start with my room (number one), overlooking carpark and above kitchen with no views, avoid. I couldn’t get to sleep due to the room being situated directly above a very noisy boiler. On complaining I was offered a refund and earplugs. I had a 5 hour drive ahead of me the next day so this wasn’t much use. Didn’t eat there apart from breakfast which was pretty basic as there was no offer of tea, coffee, toast, fruit, yoghurt before ordering cooked breakfast. Coffee and tea self service which I wouldn’t expect for the price of the room. Another issue is that in such a beautiful spot, with open fires, I was looking forward to sitting in the bar after coming in from dinner with friends. It seems to close even to residents around 11! I was appreciative of the refund but it is the least I would have expected given the disappointment I experienced. If you stay, as for a quiet room with a view.

My partner & I stayed for 4 nights in Room 14 on 2nd floor. 38 steps and no lifts, so check which room is available if your'e mobility is limited. Fortunately Scott offered to carry my suitcase to the room for me! The room, bed and equipment all very satisfactory with tea-making facility. We ate in on 2 nights and found the young staff very attentive. Food is "good pub" standard. Breakfast offer is quite extensive and NOT a buffet, which made a pleasant change. 

Pleasant stay...

Stayed one night to celebrate my wife's birthday. The cost of a room like most UK hotels nowadays is overpriced, but the food is reasonably priced and excellent quality. The whole ambience throughout the hotel is quaint and homely.

The food is fine dining standard but is let down by the table presentation, i.e. weak paper knapkins, no table settings.

We objected to the company's policy of having to pay for the room on arrival and meal and bar spends at the end of the evening which would probably make us think twice about staying at an Innkeeper's Lodge again.
