The owner/manager of this establishment really needs to reconsider their suitability for the role. The standards of hygiene are awful. The kitchen fridge was full of out of date food as where some of the cupboards.
Using the excuse ‘this is a hostel no t a hotel’ to place the burden of responsibility for upholding standards on guests is negligent to say the least. 
I’ve stayed in hostels worldwide and this is the worst ever. 

Appalled

Ok so it’s a hostel ! But in this day and age i expect it to be cleaned between the different parties staying here ! 

It’s more than just the bedding needs changed and cleaned regularly ! 

Ok guests please keep the kitchen clean and tidy well it didn’t happen and the mould in the fridge and the general cleanliness of shared areas left a lot to be desired !! 
Sorry regardless of it being our responsibility when clearly it’s not being done staff should be ensuring health and safety is paramount especially given the current climate 

We cleaned up after ourselves but unless we went in with scrubbers, bleach and steam cleaners it would take days to clean up the mess that was the kitchen 

I was in a room two singles and a double and not enough room leftover to swing a cat never mind put all our gear bags etc we were literally on top of each other 

There’s no shared sitting room or anywhere other than the kitchen to relax, converse or do anything really ! The bathroom was ok apart from the bath panel
Hanging off oh and the mould around the bath/shower but it was hot !

Dated dirty a breeding ground for bacteria

We absolutely loved this accommodation. 
The location was a bit out of town, but the taxis were cheap to and from the centre so was absolutely fine.  
The quadruple room we had was perfect, really clean and spacious and just incredible value. We only stayed the 1 night but would have been happy to have stayed longer.

Night in Inverness

An interesting experience from start to finish. There was noone there on arrival, we had to phone and let ourselves in. Kitchen smelt like a deep fryer and the TV room reeked of smoke. Our room was large and clean, except for fruit peels found in the bathroom cabinet. The host had however turned off the radiators and hot water despite knowing we were there and they were only turned on the afternoon of the second night. The fridge in the kitchen was filthy and the fridge door was broken.

Interesting experience

Had a great time staying here, Stevie was a wonderful host who did his best to make us feel at home. The rooms and facilities were clean, warm and cosy. Really appreciated the free breakfast too! Would definitely stay here again. 

Warm and cosy

This was a nice place to stay a few nights with my young family.  

Although it is a short drive from town and the first glance was not inspiring I had a great stay here.  If you don’t have a car this may not be the place for you.  Otherwise, there are many positives to this accommodation.  

Price point is great for UK.  It is in a quiet and private location with parking onsite.  The rooms, though Spartan, are clean and appointed.  The bathroom in the family room was spacious.  Fast wifi is available,included.   Communal kitchen and living area are available onsite.  Breakfast is included and quite generous.  It is a serve yourself in the kitchen but is a generous continental breakfast with all the foods one would expect.  

Overall, a nice and safe place to stay and I would stay here again in my next trip to Inverness.  Many thanks to the hosts.  

Quite nice

We only stayed one night, but if we return to Inverness we will definitely book here again. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The kitchen for guests is shared, but fully stocked with anything you would need to create meals.

Very comfortable

We were 5 people staying at this hostel last May. The room was large and clean, however my bed was horrible, it had a very old mattress, so i spent the night sleeping on top of the mattress coils sticking out. i could not complain that night as there was nobody in the hostel to attend us. i did let them know the next day and also by email, but they did not seem to care, just ignored me. thankfully we only stayed there for 1 night.

From start to finish we were so well looked after. Stevie is a real credit to everything running so smoothly. Excellent kitchen facilities. Bedrooms functional and clean. Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely stay again !

Excellent Stay

We arrived late for our stay at Hillview House but after a quick call to Stevie things were resolved.

Our room was very comfortable and welcoming. We all slept well and we're able to make use of the breakfast facilities quite easily.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Stevie was an excellent host. Many thanks.
