We were there for a 3 day family wedding at the end of August 2024. The grounds are lovely, The castle itself was beautiful. The wedding, attention to detail of the staff and food outstanding. Well run! Breakfast each morning was perfect and accommodating for gluten free too. Loved the ballroom, fire pits outside, comfortable chairs, all of it was fantastic. Very smart to have built mini manors on the grounds for guests. Ours had 5 bedrooms with baths, a living room and kitchen which we shared with other family members. Great time and great experience.

Great experience!

We stayed at one of Mini Manors near Achnagairn Castle. It was perfect for a family gathering, there are 5 ensuite bed rooms, all are beautiful decorated with a large equipped kitchen, a large living room and beautiful grounds. Plenty of parking spot too. 

Nice and peaceful area to relax, but not far from shops and Inverness Town.

We had our wedding weekend at The Achnagairn Estate from 14th-16th October 2022 and it was just perfect – we can’t thank Cara and the team at Achnagairn enough for making our weekend so special. We booked our date 2 years before and from the planning stages all the way through to the weekend itself, the team from Achnagairn have been just amazing at making sure every detail was taken care of. On our wedding day we didn’t need to worry or stress about a thing – the team took care of absolutely everything! I can’t recommend this magical venue enough for your wedding day, or any other special party for that matter. I can only hope that one of our family or friends decide to get married here so that we can come back and experience it all again!

The most magical wedding at The Achnagairn Estate

The house/castle itself is very nice and good for a wedding. 
However, the mini manors may be acceptable for student friends, but not for other guests.
I recommend wedding guests avoid the mini manors, stay outside and use taxis to come in. Local taxis are very good.

The manors are clustered tightly together so noise from one reaches the others.
Soundproofing inside is poor, so late guests wake other guests, Ground floor rooms hear everything from upstairs.

They are rather grubby and scuffed. There was a contact lens in our bath, and my bath robe had make-up round the collar.

The bedrooms are of starkly different sizes and designs, making it difficult for a wedding to allocate cost between them. 
Some rooms in our manor were very opulent, 
But our friend (paying the same as the others) was allocated a small conservatory on the ground floor.
It had just ill-fitting venetian blinds, so people could see in down the sides and light poured in first thing in the mornings.
Their 'en suite' was a bare toilet with a grating and shower head in a corner, the darkest starkest wet room I have ever seen. 

 Our room was  big, though on the ground floor at the front with huge windows and no net curtains, so very exposed unless you kept the curtains closed. I lay on our bed and counted the people looking in. 

The house provides no food except for tea bags/sachets of coffee and sugar. Milk was promised but was not there.
No restaurant on site, and no shops for literally mlles.
We were told there is a pub twenty-five minutes walk away.
Groom had to arrange for a Tesco delivery and deliver breakfast food/milk himself.

They charge highly for this. 
We highly recommend stayed in Inverness or elsewhere and taking a taxi in.

Avoid the Mini Manors, or at least check which room you are allocated

We recently attended a friend’s wedding at the Estate/Castle (we are from the States). The grounds are well-kept and beautiful - reminded us of something out of “The Secret Garden.” The setup was amazing and the staff were attentive and friendly. Overall, we had a lovely experience.

Went for a wedding which was beautiful. Staff so helpful and bridal party breakfast was amazing.
Stay in mini manors was sub par for the cost. Breakfast was a few boxes of cereal. 
Hot tub was uncovered and full of dirt and leaves and was impossible to fill as full of holes. We started running water at 5pm and by 11pm we just had a flooded garden and an empty hot tub.
Really should have been covered,  filled and heated for guests arriving!
Sauna had a wasps nest in it...
And the staff... what staff? Apart from during the wedding there were literally no staff anywhere to be found!!
TripAdvisor won't let me attach a video but I did film our manky leaking hot tub and sauna wasps to show staff but never managed to get anyone ...
Great location, beautiful building... but just a shame about the rest

Mini manors - sub par facilities and services

Visited for a wedding. Wedding was fine but the  manor we we stayed in terrible. Multiple rooms and no hot water in the bathrooms for the entire two nights we stayed so in the middle of winter we had freezing showers which was not ideal when getting ready for a wedding. We called reception multiple times to no avail. When someone did come and assist us they couldnt actually fix it. Our room had no heating on the Friday night, again no one could fix this, the solution was a mini foot heater for the rest of the stay. Lastly work men came into our manor (to try and fix the hot water) at 8am on Sunday morning after the wedding so no one had gone to bed until 4am. We were woken up my loud talking and banging around. The hot water was never fixed and we checked out at 11am without a shower. 

We emailed the venue with this feedback multiple times and was ignored. When I finally got a reply the solution provided was that we were welcome to come back for a complimentary night stay in the future. We are from another country and Inverness is not really somewhere you would go for a holiday destination so we declined this offer and just requested a partial refund for the poor experience. Our email was ignored. 

Really don't recommend this venue, sure it's nice for a wedding but the customer service is really poor and the manors are dated with a number of flaws so really leave guests with a poor experience.

Terrible service and dodgy manors

Stayed here for an event, we were in one of the lodges and the event was in the manor(not a castle), the walk back after the event ws throiugh mud and puddles, ruined my girlfriends shoes, this path needs to be fixed.
The mini-manor bedrooms are supposed to be indicidually designed!!! well if you call having a bookshelf which is actually a plate display shelf which has been put on the wall upside down !! then I think I shold become an interior designer.

nice but could be better

Here for a wedding during the weekend. All the staff were great. The food was good, the venue very well-kept, clean, and beautiful. We stayed in the ‘old nursery’ in the castle. Room was huge and well equipped. A beautiful venue for a wedding.

Wedding 

Stayed at the estate for a wedding. Room in our lodge was pretty standard nothing special, lacked air conditioning and was clear that sound proofing was omitted when these lodges were designed!! Could hear everything from the room above !! Who were up at the crack of dawn and were very noisy ! The finishing and quality of doors are very basic not what u would expect at the standard this estate is promoting.  Looks like the design is trying to go for style but no substance !! Furniture flimsy and bathroom sink may look good but hopeless for its purpose.  This estate lacked leadership all young staff poorly dressed uniforms not ironed and faded black jeans!! At this standard that the estate are claiming they should ensure staff are well presented .  Would choose to stay here again . Maybe owners should visit other establishments   In the highlands to see what quality is out there.
