I stayed in The Lochside on a solo trip at beginning of September, before reviewing, I'd like to say a special thank-you to all the staff, including Gema (front of house) and  chef Dan. Enjoyed the beers on Tuesday night and the Aidan breakfast, Wednesday morning. (Mr McG). If reading this, Gema will understand.

From my arrival early on the Monday morning, late breakfast which was prepared to the early morning breakfast, on the Thursday morning, when leaving to catch a flight, my stay couldn't have better been looked after.

I think I stayed in room 12 on the top floor, a super spacious room, with a single bed, super king bed, and a seating area, with great views over Loch Indaal. The room was well tastefully decorated and modern. On one morning, other rooms were open, whilst being prepared for new arrivals. Whist smaller, they all looked well decorated also.

I had dinner booked in the hotel on 2 of the 3 evenings. The haggis, neeps and tatties tower and katsu curry were very tasty. They also had a couple of fish specials on each evening.

The only minor issue, it would be useful to put some type of blind on the bathroom window. This faces directly into the living quarters of the Indian restaurant across the road. 

I probably met most of the staff having beers on the Tuesday night, sorry I can't remember your name, but thanks for all the service.

This may have been my first visit to Islay (bowmore), but certainly won't be my last. Hope to see you all again in 2024.

The Hotel is outstanding the staff are fantastic friendly and can’t do enough for you we had room 9 it was huge great view and fab shower and bathroom The breakfasts are really good and huge the evening food 5 star plus the seafood specials huge and very tasty Thanks so much to all the staff

Outstanding Hotel and Restaurant 30-08 to 2-09-23

Lovely meal and friendly service. Good choice of dishes on the menu, lots of lovely seafood options and specials on the day. Atmosphere was nice in the restaurant and comfortable. If you can, get a table at the window overlooking  Loch Indaal.

Stayed from 29th Dec to 2nd Jan in deluxe loch view room.
Fantastic location and view, room has what is needed for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay.
Staff were fantastic hosts. Bar in the evening was great too - particularly on NYE.
Recommended for a stay on Islay.

Fantastic Hogmanay Stay

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights from the 30 Dec to 2 Jan and we were really impressed with all the friendly and attentive staff! the hotel is perfectly located to enjoy the hogmanay experience here and the hogmanay dinner at the hotel was very keenly priced and most enjoyable. the hotel is clean and tidy and all the food we had was absolutely delicious and served with a smile . we’ll be back x

Hogmanay stay

Just enjoyed a fabulous meal in The Lochside Bowmore. Seafood was just amazing. Scallops for starter and seabass for main. Thoroughly recommend. Burgers too come highly recommended as does the view from the restaurant window.

Fabulous food

Have had dinner in the Lochside Hotel three times over the last week.   Food was excellent as was the service.  Staff friendly and helpful and the waitress pointed out to us that service charge was added.
Young waiter working in his first night in avery busy restaurant did an amazing job.

Fantastic Meals

Can’t rate this hotel and location highly enough. I’ve never been to Islay before, but I’ll certainly be back. Staff we’re soo helpful and knowledgeable. Food was brilliant, I would recommend the scallops. Best I’ve had. Bed was very comfy. Thanks again

I will definitely be back!

My wife and I went here for an evening meal on Friday 9th June. We decided to have the fish and chips served with mushy peas and pickled onion. And that's what we got. Except the chips were oven chips. The pickled onion was tiny silver skin onions. And the mushy peas wouldn't have filled a dessert spoon. And my wife's fish had bones in it. When she mentioned it to a member of staff the response was that it was because they used chunkier fish rather than skinny fillets. If that's the case they might want to think about warning clients of the chance of bones being present in the fish.

Not a bad meal but...

Friendly staff, good food and an astonishing 1800 whiskies on the shelf. Belhaven Best is the best draught at first sight. The interior is plastered with cupboards filled with Islay whiskies and the view at Lochindaal is great.
