Excellent B&B! Beautifully located on the bay, very quiet, friendly and helpful owners, very clean room and a stunning vegan breakfast. Thre is a very extensive choice of delicious vegan breakfast.💚🥰😋🌱

Stunning vegan breakfast!

Simply the best BnB we have ever stayed at. The room was lovely, very comfortable beds, good shower with cruelty free products. The location is 2 minutes to the beach. The hosts  Carol and Jules were most welcoming. There is a lovely lounge with a library and sea views. The best thing though was the incredible breakfast. Whether you are vegan or not, this is hands down the best breakfast choice and quality of any bnb or hotel we have visited, Dont' hesitate just book. Highly recommended.

Of the little extras in room of fresh fruit and the plant based products. The breakfast selection is the best around. You won’t be disappointed great local vegan produce. Hosts so accommodating and friendly will come back to chill when I’m off.

Relaxing place

My husband, 17 month old son and I stayed with Carol and Jules for 3 nights. We aren’t vegan, but after reading such great things about the B&B thought it was worth trying! The house is lovely and the hosts are really friendly. Our room was fantastic - bath and shower (which was handy with us having our toddler with us!), very comfy bed and lovely, fresh decor. There was a mini fridge with cold water and oat milk, a tea and coffee tray and a really lovely basket of fruits, vegan chocolate and snacks for us. The bathroom had complimentary toiletries (vegan and a real treat!) and towels were ‘bath sheets’ rather than towels… which my extra tall husband was very grateful for! Breakfast was a real feast and our hosts couldn’t do enough to make sure we were all well fed. They were really kind and patient with our little boy, even when he was being rather difficult! We were delighted that they had gone the extra mile to provide not only a travel cot for us, but beautiful Gruffalo bedding and teddies too! So thoughtful! Would recommend and definitely stay again!

Superb experience - delicious, healthy foods and friendly welcome!

The outrageously tasty breakfast is reason alone to come to Arran. Guests choose two breakfast courses from an extensive menu. The presentation and attention to detail is high-end restaurant quality.  Strongly recommend the homemade tofu bacon, which guests can order as a part of a breakfast plate or a BLT with avocado (pictured). Great views from the breakfast room. Come to breakfast very hungry! 
Jules and Carol are impeccable hosts. Rooms were well decorated, very clean and we loved the bath products. Would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone - not just vegans. If you are looking for a relaxed, boutique B&B experience this is a must-do.

Fantastic breakfast & hospitality

To say that Stonewater House is by far the best guest house we’ve ever stayed in simply doesn’t do it justice. This place is truly special. It’s run by Jules and Carol, both of whom are such kind, generous and welcoming people.
Arrival and room: We arrived by bus from the ferry and Stonewater House is conveniently situated in the middle of Lamlash less than a hundred yards from the stop. They came out to greet us warmly. Jules carried our heavy case up to our room (the large one at the front). And what a room! Large, with genuinely very comfy king-size bed (with memory foam mattress). We both have back problems and the excellent bed was a real bonus. Stacks of storage space too. The beautiful view is across the water to Holy Island. 
On arrival, the fridge had been stocked with non-dairy milk and cold water. The fruit bowl contained apples, bananas and clementines plus fruit and nut bars. Next to the kettle were a range of teas and, instead of the usual gut-rotting stuff in most hotel rooms, there were high-end caf and decaf coffee bags. All items were restocked daily to replace whatever we’d consumed. The en suite bathroom is also immaculate, with the good sized walk-in shower and a wide range of toiletries (cruelty free of course).
Breakfast: There’s a huge menu of items from which to choose. The quality, quantity, flavour, variety and even presentation are all absolutely superb, in fact my only complaint was that, delicious as everything was, the portions were invariably too generous and we ate more than we ought. Look at the menu on their website and you’ll understand! If you’ve ever felt less than convinced that vegan food can be delicious and satisfying, the fare at Stonewater House will make you think again.
Other remarks: In the large breakfast / living room, there’s not only a great range of reading materials and games but there’s even a rather good Epiphone acoustic guitar available for guests to use - so I didn’t have to go cold turkey after all! On the day we left, to save us lugging our bags onto the bus, Jules volunteered to drive us to the ferry.  Don’t hesitate. Just book!

Wish we could give Stonewater House at least six stars!

If I were to sum up our experience here in a word it would be “generosity” - the amazing breakfasts, the little touches in the room, the care and attention Jules and Carol provide to guests, it was just fantastic.
We enjoyed our time on Arran exploring Brodick castle and gardens, Glenashdale falls, the King’s caves, Machrie Moor stone circles and the coastal path. 
Each morning we were set up with a huge breakfast - really appreciated having iced water, juice and tea provided along with the 2 course breakfast. It was an experience in itself to enjoy whilst looking out at the harbour views. 
We ordered a delicious packed lunch (although the breakfast kept us going so well we’d have been fine without!).
Jules was always on hand to ensure everything was well. There is a small fridge in the communal space. 
We slept so well each night. Although the road is near, there is no traffic after early evening and the bed was so comfy. The room was refreshed (as well as snacks) while we were out and about and we enjoyed the in-room reading material and clipper teas for quiet evenings. 
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Stonewater House.

Fantastic

We have just come back from a three night stay at Stonewater House.  From the start where Jules just showed us to our room with no check-in fuss to the end where they waved us off , everything was just wonderful.  First the room:  we had the twin room, which was a good size, immaculately clean and equipped with thoughtful touches like coffee bags instead of instant, a wide range of teas, vegan chocolate snacks and full sized vegan bathroom products. We also had a bowl of fruit and a jug of iced water.  

 The B&B is well-situated on Lamlash, across the road from the pier and cafe and within short walking distance of the other hotels and restaurants in the bay.  

The breakfast is amazing, fresh, imaginative and huge!!  For a vegan, it makes a welcome change not to have to scrutinise labels etc to make sure everything is safe to eat.   The arrangement is that you choose your options the night before along with you preferred time.  Breakfast is served in the living room, with views over the bay.  When the weather is better, guests can sit on the balcony overlooking the bay.

There is a wide range of books in the living room and in the guest room, which guests are welcome to browse. 

We felt very well looked after by Carol and Jules for the whole of our stay.  When we got back from a rainy walk, they took our boots to be dried. 

We would love to return and can highly recommend this gem, whether or not you are vegan.  Great value for money as well.

10/10!! Great food, great people, great place. So helpful and they really look after you. Comfy bed and excellent room in general. Perfect location for exploring Arran, Lamlash is a great little town :)

What a place!

My lovely wife and I decided to take a long awaited (and sorely needed!) long-weekend getaway on Arran.
We were very fortunate to have gotten some amazing weather, but honestly it was a total chore to get ourselves away from Stonewater house.

The hosts:

Jules and Carol were such amazing hosts during our stay. It really did feel like a home-away-from-home. They were friendly, kind and considerate. They knew all of the best spots for us to go and visit and provided us with a big old booklet filled with all the information that you need. There's so many lovely places and interesting things to do on the island and my only regret is not being able to cram it all into the one trip! (So, I suppose we'll have to go again.) It's the little things that you end up remembering, and believe me when I say that attention to detail is one of the things that Stonewater House does best. Preparing us wee packed lunches for our days out, making sure there was ice cold water waiting for us in the fridge,  leaving us little notes of advice and just generally being so helpful, made our trip so enjoyable!

The room:

The room that we stayed in was absolutely lovely. The bed was comfortable, immaculate and beautiful. We had a big old view of the water across the harbour, with plenty of light and plenty of space. The amenities were spot on (the shower felt like standing under a heated waterfall, which is exactly what you need after a day of hiking!). We did decide to have a "night in" one day, during our visit. We got everything set up to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark, but the bed was so comfortable that within 20 minutes, we were out like a light. 

The location: 

Stonewater house is in the perfect location to travel the island - it's right next to the Pierhead Tavern, which is a great place to grab some drinks (and is - rather conveniently - within staggering distance). My wife and I took the bus just a few stops north and hiked Glen Rosa, where we went swimming in the green pools. We saw stunningly gorgeous views, local wildlife (Got a glimpse of an Adder!) and beautiful wee houses. 

The people:

Everyone is so friendly!
There's an acoustic guitar sitting in the communal room at Stonewater house. I picked it up to have a wee strum and Jules heard from across the hall. 
One thing led to another, and that night I ended up playing live music at the Pierhead Tavern to a small crowd of locals, chatting away and just having a great time! I was so relaxed and happy during my time on Arran that I worked up the courage to play some of my original compositions for the first time in public; all thanks to Jules!

The food:

Oh. My. God.

Highlight of the trip. Hands down. 
When staying at Stonewater House, Carol and Jules give you a wee sheet with the breakfast menu on it for you to fill out. Everything is Vegan (which is such a relief for my wife and I, who have been Vegan now for some time). I've never felt so accommodated in my life! There's something so refreshing about being able to choose any of the options, instead of having chips and side salad (again).

The portion sizes are totally ridiculous and I wouldn't have it any other way. The food is healthy and delicious and it'll fuel you up for a whole day of sightseeing. 

The packed lunches are lovingly prepared to last you throughout the day, and gives you even more time to treasure what Arran has to offer.

To Conclude:

We made some of the best memories of our lives (So far!) During our stay, and a big part of that was Stonewater House. Whether you're Vegan, Vegetarian, or just looking for a place to stay - I really can't reccomend it enough. 

So I'll say it again; Book this B&B!
