Returned again for our annual lads cycle trip to Keswick. 3rd year in a row at this hostel and won’t book anywhere else now! 

Rooms as always are comfortable and clean. If your room looks out the front your view is the lake, behind is the waterfall! 

Breakfast was great value and service was good as always. Bike shed for the bikes needs to be bigger but always manage to squeeze in. 

Slight trek into Keswick but plenty of options. Bus service leaves from the drive way, also a boat service from the lake or a taxi from Davies was only £7. We walked it last year but took about an hour. 

Parking as always in Keswick is a nightmare. 

Be back again next year for sure.

Best hostel in the Lakes!

Gotta be the best Hostel in the Lakes , if not the UK. 

Amazing building , fantastic location and views.  Great food, super, helpful  staff.

Camping on site too.

Once part of the YHA, now like many YHA properties,  it's been 'let go'.

Still run much  like a YHA Hostels used  to be

Gotta be the best Hostel in the UK.

A lovely setting for a hostel. The bar was great and well priced. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Room was as expected. The showers were hot however there was significant mould on the ceiling of the shower room. I would 100% go back again though

A well priced accommodation option

Fab hostel. Staying with friends. Beautiful old house. Staff are friendly, nice big rooms. Gorgeous lounge with open fire, and cosy couches. Seperate games room. Tip top bathrooms as well. Love it here. Also views of derwent water at the front, and waterfalls at the back !

Had a very relaxed holiday in this amazing hostel. Staff were professional and helpful. The hostel has lots areas you can relax in including a games room. I was travelling alone and was given a room to myself. Good value accommodation!

Relaxed stay

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel and the location is excellent right across from the lake. It is cleaned to a very high standard and the staff are very friendly and helpful at all times. The food is great and they can cater for gluten free and vegetarian options.  The ease of access to the walking trails is also a huge benefit to staying here and I hope to return.

Clean Cosy Comfortable

We stayed six nights in July in the new camping pod on our trip to Lake District. There are three new camping pods on the ground and they are very popular during summer and always fully booked. The camping pod is decent in size and able to fit three adults or two adults and two kids, perfect for family. Simple mattress and bedding are provided and there are power sockets and USB points for charging your devices. On warm summer days, it can be very warm inside the pod in the evening and midgets are becoming common problem in the Lakes these days.

You can use all facilities within the main hostel building (shower, kitchen, lounge, drying space) and sport ground (badminton, football, etc). The shower and toilet space for campers however, could be improved as it is always wet and under maintained. Anyway, we enjoyed our stay in this hostel. Guests are friendly and it was always nice to meet people from various parts of the UK. The location of this hostel is actually quite a distance from Keswick town centre. If you don't have car and rely on public transport, there is a bus service (no. 78) from Keswick to Seatoller, which stop at the hostel, but the service starts very late in the morning (after 9am) and finishes just after 6pm. The Derwentwater lake is just right in front of the hostel and you can also walk/ hike up the hill behind the hostel.

Perfect location to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Lakes, but more convenient if you got your own transport. This is a popular place for visitors/ campers/ hikers. Staff are friendly and helpful as well. I will recommend this place to visitors.

Great hostel. I visited and used the camping at the hostel whilst completing my Mountain Leader training. The hostel is in a great position a stones throw from the lake shore at Derwentwater and a five min drive to Keswick. The showering and toilet facilities are basic but clean, the self catering kitchen is very well equipped and the lounge is warm and comfortable. I had a breakfast every morning and that set me up brilliantly for the day, and excellent value at £6.50 . Cereal, yoghurt, fruit, toast and full English. Cheaper than shopping. The manager and staff were all very amenable . This is a great place to stay and I’d highly recommend it. I’ll use it again

Great hostel.

My husband and I were stranded after popping a tire hiking. The tow truck took a few hours to arrive. The owners of this lovely hostel took us in for a couple of hours and let us warm up. They offered hot tea, and a warm room with WiFi while we waited. They even brought lovely biscuits to have with our tea. They made a very inconvenient situation much better and warm! Thank you for your kind hospitality!
