A very warm welcome from the owner Louise at the start of a 5 night stay in our motorhome. The pitches are across 3 levels all off the central farm yard, most with electric. It was great to watch the comings and goings of a busy farm, expect the occasional flock of sheep or heard of cows to be passing your van as they are moved from one field to another. 
Had a pitch on the side of the farm access road with great views down the valley. Bus stop within sight of the farm taking you to either Keswick or Kendal and great walking on the door step. 
With basic facilities the farm offers great value for money in one of the many beautiful parts of the Lake District.

A warm welcome

Cute little shepherds hut next to the fells and lake Thirlmere. Surrounded by the grazing sheep and lovely views. 

Was just a bit different which was nice… for a change. Walked to the infinity pool.

Good little hut

Lovely small farm site located in a beautiful location with great footpath connections on the door step. Bus stop by the farm, sort direct ride on the 555 into Keswick or a little longer going south East to Kendal. Pitches are directly off the main small farmyard, there is a simple but perfectly good shower and two toilets along with drinking water, elsan and EHU. Remembering this is a true working farm and the pitch is almost part of the yard, but safe and sound. Tractor and animal movements will be part of day-to-day environment. We found this all fascinating and lovely to be amongst. The photographs are all directly from the farm. Lovely owners and we had a great few days.

Farm in a beautiful location - great bus link into Keswick

I had a great three nights here in a campervan and Louise has very helpful, friendly and accommodating from when I booked to the morning I left.

The farm is brilliantly situated for walks through the Helvellyn range with a path right from the campsite so you don't have to worry about parking anywhere else! There's also a bus stop at the end of the drive, which apparently runs every 30 minutes and takes you anywhere you want to go.

The campsite offered plenty of pitches (including electric) all with brilliant views and an abundance of livestock to enjoy (cows, sheep, chickens, donkeys and dogs). The animals could get quite vocal early (6-7am) but not too much of a problem for me as I'm an early riser anyway and it is a working farm so to be expected.

As I had a campervan I was pretty self sufficient so didn't use many of the facilities, like the shower room (£1 fee to use), but the WC was clean, tidy and well stocked. There is everything campers need too - chemical disposal, waste water disposal, drinking water and bins - so very convenient.

There is little to no signal/ reception so you will struggle to use your phone for calls, texts and internet but if you venture just off the campsite (North) I found good signal there.

If...... when I find myself back in the lake district, I'll certainly be stopping here again!

Perfect for Campervanners!

Stayed in a Motorhome for three nights . Pitch’s very steep even with large Ramps.
Toilet awful attached to farmhouse kitchen.Lock on inside of door very poor and cut my finger. Toilet needs complete refurbishment .Six caravans and Motorhomes on site so 12 people using one toilet. Luckily nobody in shepherds hut or camping barn which all share the same toilet. Opened door to shower and left quickly. Website claims good tv reception we could get nothing.
Dogs howled all night . 
We will not return .

Friendly hosts on a working farm with lots of animals and stunning views! The toilet and shower facilities were clean and well maintained and the water a good temperature. We were very happy with our spot on the top field a the opportunity to charge our electrics, empty our waste and fill our water. Good value and excellent location for Thirlmere, Sticks Pass and Helvellyn. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Campervan Spot with Panoramic Views

Incredibly placed and well maintained by friendly and accommodating owners,  this place was absolutely perfect for a peaceful getaway.
It's basic camping on a working farm,  with the benefits of a comfy bed and tea making facilities. Amazing fell views, and between Derwent Water and Thirlmere, it provides convenience with outstanding beauty.

This is a beautiful place on a working farm. Sheep, goats, chickens, donkeys, cows.
And the scenery is just wow!
The shepherds hut was lovely. It was small and cosy and rustic. It was clean enough. The toilet and shower are a short walk away, shared with campers. The shower costs £1. The one toilet was clean.
Woke at 2am and it was  freezing!!! There was a heater but we didn’t find that out until morning.

Beautiful Scenery

We wanted to stay near Keswick and were on a budget so decided to book the shepherd's hut on Stybeck Farm. The hut was £130 for 2 nights which was quite pricey for 2 week nights in winter but we didn't mind as we knew the Lake District is a popular tourist spot. However, our stay was more equivalent to a camping trip that you would normally only pay around £20-40 per night for. 

We got to the Farm and it seemed as much as the owner was lovely and friendly, she seemed to have forgotten that we were coming. Understandable as they are owners of a busy working farm but the hut did not look like it had been cleaned since the last stay as floor was dirty and the bed had hairs on it. She also informed us that the shower was £1 to use which they don't state on booking. We had a look at the shower to see if it was worth the £1 but it looked like an average communal outside camping shower and as we had already paid £130 we decided to not bother. 

To go to the toilet we had to walk round to the other side of the house which is fine, but they didn't have any lights on the way so when it got dark at 4:30pm we needed to use a torch and step over the plants in the front garden to get to it each time. Again reminding me of being on a campsite in a tent. 

The hut included a small heater so we were able to stay warm in the cold and had a fridge, microwave, hob and hot water tank. We turned off the fridge as it smelt a bit strange. We were able to cook soup and pasta. We found very out of date hot chocolate in the cupboard so I decided to throw it away. Didn't trust the look of the coffee either.

The hut is also quite close to the main road so you can hear the traffic easily. Despite this I did manage to sleep well both nights as I am a heavy sleeper. 

The good thing about staying here was we got to see the stars at night and there are nice views of the hills. But realised we could have had same experience paying much less to pitch up a tent somewhere. Which we will do next time. 

Not worth what we paid

This is a fantastic site 5 miles from Keswick. It sits under the Helvellyn Range so is perfect for walking the fells. Louise the owner is so friendly and helpful and the staff always give a friendly smile and chat. You need a £1 coin for the shower, it’s clean, hot and goes on for ages. It’s a working farm so expect animal noises and lots of friendly farm dogs. Louise also has a little shop selling fruit, veg eggs etc. Take what you need and keep a note to pay when you leave. The bus stop is opposite the site. The 555 takes you to Keswick, we got the Keswick/Honister zone pass, the price varies on how many days you want it for. 
No WiFi or 4g signal (we’re with o2) To the right of the site 2 mins away is a cafe which has WiFi. Louise loaned us a tv box so we were able to watch tv, although after climbing all day we were usually in bed by 9.30. 
This is our second visit and we’ve booked to go back. 5* cl site.
