My wife and 2 children (not so small anymore) have been coming here every Easter for 7 years and every year I am struck by what a special place it is.  Nigel and Trish are fantastic at keepings things down to earth but very special at the same time, wonderful food, very welcoming, the cosy fire and whisky to end the night, generous breakfasts, great sandwiches for lunch and tea and fresh cakes every day. The place is charming and rambling with all the rooms different, but all connecting visually to the lovely gardens  and incredible views beyond. Perfect for hikes up to the Gables, Scafell, Haystacks and more, we come back in a variety of states (hot/cold/wet), put everything in the drying room and settle down to be spoilt rotten. It has become our favourite place for us all to challenge ourselves, refresh and re-bond.

Magical home from home

Seatoller House is amazing. Fully catered accommodation is true luxury, and the food is fantastic. The bedrooms and communal rooms are extremely comfortable, very clean and relaxing, and the setting in the heart of the Lake District is amazing, with great hikes and bike rides on your doorstep. This place is a gem, we will definitely be coming back!

A warm welcome in the heart of the Lakes

This is our very favourite place in the Lakes!  Seatoller house is a gorgeous building set in stunning scenery. But what really sets this apart is the warm welcome and the amazing atmosphere created by Nigel and Trish and the small team. The food is wonderful at every meal time - we talk about what might be served at dinner over breakfast - that's how good it is!! If you are wondering whether to try it - do - you won't regret it! We cannot wait to go back again soon! 

A stunning place - with people and food to match!

We enjoyed our stay in early June very much - Nigel and Trish are excellent hosts and make everyone feel very welcome.  Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view over the valley towards the fell opposite.  The breakfasts and dinners were exactly what you need before and after a day’s walking, and we appreciated the packed lunches which are provided if you need them. An extra bonus - the garden was looking fabulous, full of gorgeous flowers. We have stayed in various places in Borrowdale and this is an absolute favourite.

We return every year to enjoy the hospitality, the wonderful food and excellent company, whatever the weather. With comfortable bedrooms and cosy sitting rooms, Seatoller has become a second home for us. Thank you Trish and Nigel

Seatoller House, like returning home every year.

We stayed here for a week as part of a large group.

Seatoller House is a lovely old building, which leads to it having some quirks - such as our bathroom being a few meters from our room.  But it was exclusively ours and it was no problem.  In fact, it had recently been refurbished to a high standard.

It's really well set up for walkers with a room to leave your walking boots to dry out overnight.  It's in one of the most beautiful parts of the lake district too.

There are no TVs.  The wi-fi worked well for us.

The meals are fantastic.  Trish is a brilliant cook and attended to my minor food allergies really well.  As well as being tasty, there is plenty of it too.  We especially liked that all the residents can sit down together around two large tables to discuss the events of the day.   Occasionally residents ate in their own small group.

The manager, Nigel, is very attentive to your every need.  Fiona and Monika are also excellent.  

It's not the same, but in some ways it reminded me of going skiing.  You have a large breakfast, put your boots on on the way out, do a long walk, come back tired but happy after your physical activity, have a piece of cake, shower/ bath then dinner to discuss the exploits of the day.

Perfect for walkers in a beautiful location

Yet another wonderful trip to Seatoller House. I’ve been visiting annually since 1986, but the house and gardens are looking better than ever and Nigel & Trish are brilliant hosts. Great food, fantastic walks from the doorstep without having to move the car and in the most glorious location.

Better than ever!

Nigel and Trish are excellent hosts. 21 of us took over the guest house for a family weekend from age 19 to 91. The location is fabulously peaceful being a short bus ride from Keswick. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Food, drink, rooms and service all 5 star.

Fabulous food, service and location

I have never had such experience before, eating dinner together with all guests, no shop in the village, no signal reception, no TV.  No worries, WiFi was excellent. Although it looks remote, regular bus services are running every half an hour from/to Keswick. Buttermere route is also with fantastic views. As it's such a beautiful location, it is an ideal base for many walking routes or for just relaxing in a nice room with views and proper bathroom.  Many of the guests were repeaters and I can understand that as I also want to go back.
