Chose to eat here for my birthday lunch as it had decent reviews and a nice menu. Booked in advance as was busy when we arrived. Service was lovely - friendly, warm and felt genuine. Food was good quality and nicely presented with a good choice of traditional pub food options – ham, egg and chips, fish and chips and so on. Enjoyable lunch.

Birthday lunch

Very friendly staff but food disappointing - very little flavour. Ridiculously large Yorkshire puddings served which swamped the plates and spoiled what could have been an attractively served meal. Very nicely decorated dining rooms and all very clean. I wouldn’t recommend Sunday lunch as it is so busy and noisy. Staff remain helpful and friendly throughout however.

Disappointing food after a very friendly welcome

We called in to The Dog for lunch.  It felt so homely with such a lovely vibe.  The pub was really busy but Charlie managed to fit us in, and he was so charming and lovely!  Charlie and the young ladies serving were outstanding and couldn’t do enough for us!  Amazing food.  Loved it!!!  Thank you!!!

Awesome Staff, Lovely food!

Just got back from having are xmas lunch at the Dog.Party of 16 and the service and food was outstanding.They had a good selection of drinks at the bar.Everyone in the party was very happy with the service and food will be back.

Great Xmas lunch

Very busy as usual , however they always manage to fit us in, lovely welcome, place was really busy.

I had the nut roast and my husband had the roast pork. 
Both very tasty and really filling.
We were both very full , but had to fit the festive crumble in, glad we did.  This was our 3rd visit and we will definitely be back.

Lovely Sunday lunch

Fabulous Sunday Roast! Huge Yorkshire puddings. Really tasty crispy roast potatoes and great, friendly staff. Best roast dinner in Cheshire. We had a great time even though there were some little kids literally ROARING all the way through our dinner 😂

Popped in for a week day lunch. Good atmosphere as relatively busy, but not too busy. Service at both the bar and table was very good. Food options are a step above standard pub grub so a bit more expensive, but good quality and a good range of options on the menu. There was also a more limited lunch menu for "better value" options.
The Dog is definitely worth a visit as food, beer and atmosphere are all good. Nice also to get decent quality service.

Attentive service, good food and choice of cask beers

So I walked in and was greeted by the manager who was very welcoming. We had a cappuccino which was beautiful also served with a lotus biscuit which got me ready for my roast. Flavours were all there and plate was clean. Was very happy and so was my mother who is the biggest critic for food! Thank you for the hospitality it felt like home! The service was brilliant! Will be back very soon. 
P.S big shoutout to the head chef for a lovely menu 😀

Best Sunday roast I’ve had in a long time!

Stayed here on 17 February 2023. I read  the negative reviews which having now stayed here  in the main disagree with.
The Pub itself was busy, lively & welcoming. We were shown to our room by a friendly young lady. The room was lovely & cosy, clean and warm. We had a few drinks in the bar which was friendly and relaxing, the staff were friendly & attentive. Our meal was gorgeous, plates hot, food hot, food really tasty, again the staff were very attentive, felt very much at home. Had a few more drinks in the bar afterwards, again, very nice, great evening. I think the Pub closed before midnight but noise not an issue. The only thing that was a problem was the bed was very hard and quite uncomfortable. It was also only a double.
Breakfast was really nice served by a really friendly chap. Pub was really clean and tidy. 



Great stay in the main.

A popular country pub food venue with good choice of beers and wine.
Very popular, definitely worth booking in advance.
Service was friendly and speedy.
Usual traditional range of Pub food, well cooked.
Would say it’s a family friendly venue .
They offer rooms if your looking to stay over and have a reasonable size car park.
Dog friendly and still cater for locals just having a beer.
