If there was a minus one that would be fitting! Terrible place awful rooms - the mattress was stained and stunk! The carpets are something out of the 60s! The headboard wasn’t even attached to the bed. The actual room was something out of Chernobyl. The manger/owner has not got a clue how to deal with complaints let alone run a business! I would not let my goldfish stay here! 

Manger/owner couldn’t run a bath! AVOID!!

Don’t bother unless u like a pub that’s run by old men who can’t treat people with respect, ask for lunch the man behind the bar laughed at me and walked away, toilets were disgusting and smelt, the people in the bar area of the hotel are rude and abrupt, we put the music on and a man in the corner said to keep the music down, how is this pub still going under this management,

Disgusting

I was on my 30th anniversary with my wife, we where very excited to return to west Wales after a long time away. Until we stayed at this (rundown) hotel the rooms where very basic and nothing like advertised, the place smelled poorly and was made to feel on edge with the owner the bar staff where the only thing keeping the place going as they where the only ones that seem to care 
Wouldn't not recommend.

I felt physically unwell after eating at the Black Lion. The hygiene standards were awful. Crumbs all over the table, uneaten food on the floor and extremely dirty toilets. The place needs a deep clean and I don't wish to see the state of the kitchen. While the staff were friendly enough, I wish I had of gone hungry instead of going here. 

Awful Hygiene Standards

Went into the bar to have a quiet drink and was refused to be served by the young girls at the bar as they ‘didn’t like me’ spoke to the manager which asked me to leave after not doing anything wrong! No reason for this sort of treatment as a customer! 
Pub is full of a young generation taking drugs whilst the manager sits and does nothing about it! 
Highly recommend staying away unless you want to be looked down at and not treated appropriately as a customer!

TERRIBLE

Warmest welcome staff were very accommodating. Was recommended to have Sunday lunch here and could not fault it. Meat was lovely and plenty of vegetables.. Asked for extra and the staff brought it out quickly.

Historic old pub which could be great but is poorly run 
Been popping in for the past 10 years hoping it gets better but it never does
What could be the nicest pub in cardigan  is the worst 
Seems to cater for a rough local crowd 
Drum and bass playing on a radio with a background noise of Men swearing 
Will pop in again next year , might have improved

Would have walked straight back out if there was anywhere else to go. Horrible smell throughout. Carpets, curtains and bedding desperately need replacing. Only one person doing everything so waited an hour for breakfast. Definitely not worth £90 per night. Shame as could be made into a lovely place.

Disappointing

We  were served by a person who was obviously related to Keith Richards of the Stones , although he denied it ! You get your moneys worth here from just this experience. A bit basic but adequate , nothing to scare the horses.

Historic Experience

We popped in for Sunday lunch while in the area. We were unsure at first as the only options available for both adults and kids were roast beef or pork, available in adult or child sized portions, but with no separate children's menu - which can be an issue as our son is autistic and won't generally eat meat except for fish fingers etc. However, he caught sight of the Yorkshire puds and asked if he could just have a Yorkshire pud with potatoes and veg. The staff were happy to accommodate and even made him his own giant Yorkshire pud, which he was over the moon with! They were also happy to warm his glass of milk up for him (another sensory need). The meals themselves were delicious, with tender meat, perfect roasties (though I'd have liked one or two more!) and plenty of nicely-cooked veg.
