Bar manager was very friendly and food was nice however bedrooms and  bathrooms in much need of upgrade  . Shower head did not fit in holder and was very small. We had to hold the shower in our hands to wash  . Grouting in need of a good clean.

Nice Welcome on arrival 
Our room was on the ground floor as requested 
Very clean room with coffee and tea oh! and biscuits too ,nice tea pot too 
bed was very comfortable 
The Bathroom although a bit dated was spotlessly clean and  we could find no fault with it 
Nice crisp clean linen on the bed and really great pillows too 
Breakfast was very good and served at your table by Yasmin and friend 
Great pots of tea for me and coffee for my wife choice of fruit juices ,choice of cereals and a Scottish Breakfast with choice egg fried,and any way you wanted all cooked just nice 
my wife likes her bacon,eggs and sausage well cooked and sure enough just as she liked it 
Even when the hotel was busy with a bus load of guests 
Paul was there to organise the restaurant which he did so well even cracking jokes and a nice word too 
We did not eat dinner first night as we had a good lunch however we then had dinner with my Daughter and Husband it was very good 
not cordon bleu but better than pub grub and plenty of  it too the next evening we had dinner again and very good indeed finally on our last night my daughter and husband came again we really could not complain about anything 
 Yasmin  and Paul are right on top of everything ,serving and checking everything is ok 
Our only tiny moan was the TV  not working and new one installed for us and the Wi Fi a bit weak and by going into the lounge we got a better signal and I could get  my newspaper no problem 
There are plenty of areas to sit and relax as well as a nice bar where you will be served by very nice ladies or even Paul 
I travel quite a bit and stop at lots of hotels 
this hotel maybe a bit dated but by golly the service ,the food and the people make this a place I’m happy to return too and will 
Sure I could stop at a Modern Lodge or Inn and speak to no one and be completely alone here that’s impossible 
Finally we must not for get the hard working ladies doing the rooms who do an exceptional job so thank you 
Finally there is a garden around the back if John is there doing his little jobs on his plants say hello 
Finally Finally There is plenty of parking too

Comfy and Happy Hotel

Close to Two Way Bus Stops, so  you can nip into Largs, as well heading to the Great Beyond of Glasgow, if you didn't arrive by car. Willowbank has a very welcoming atmosphere, largely down to the staff, and management who, clearly, want to make sure all needs are anticipated. The rooms are comfortable, and adequately supplied with tea and coffee. Ironing boards provided, on request; as well as assistance with connecting to WiFi. As to the food, the hotel has a VERY good Chef who provides a wide range of menus. Well recommended.   

It's a Haste Ye Back kind of hotel!

My daughter and I came to the willow bank hotel towards the end of July really looking forward to our little holiday together with Alfa holiday company. We were so disappointed. When we arrived  nobody was there to greet us and also there was no porterage so people were struggling up the stairs with their case's. Our room was very basic but clean. The 4 drawer cabinet was passed its sell by date with only two opening so we were putting clothes at the bottom of the wardrobe.  Saying all that the bed was comfortable.  Apparently we were lucky because some people had no hot water.
The food was hit and miss. Breakfast was done on a shoe string, hardly any choice at all but the evening meals were adequate.  I wondered whether Alfa travel gave the hotel a small amount of money because of meals being so limited. 
The staff were absolutely fabulous,  so caring. The management are lucky to have them.
The thing that really disappointed us was the entertainment which was rubbish,  in other words virtually non existent.  Two nights no entertainment,  one night 2 games of bingo and on the last day we had a singer with a throat Infection.  We couldn't believe it as we love to have a little sing a long and dance BUT as it was the last night people were packing ready for an early departure..
We are not moaners. We usually look for the good in everything but I'm afraid this was beyond it. It's a shame because it's hard earned money and it wasn't cheap plus I was away with my daughter and we like to make the most of it.. 
The manager was supposed to be getting on the bus at the end to say goodbye but he sent one of the girls on. We had to laugh though,  I bet he was embarrassed. 
To sum it up. Bedroom's basic but clean, food iffy. Entertainment virtually non existent but staff lovely. Oh and we had a fabulous driver  Dave,

Disappointing  holiday 

Our social club took us to Willowbank this afternoon. 
The hotel has a nostalgic feel to it, we had a fabulous meal, with four coachloads arriving for dinner. The staff were impressively efficient, food was hot, sauces and dressings were delicious. Tables were cleared promptly to allow us to enjoy the Elvis entertainer who has been booked for the afternoon, staff were lovely and accommodating when a member of the party decided to change her dessert order halfway through. 
I had the best peach Melba I have ever had. Would love to visit again sometime soon.

Excellent Experience 

Well what can i say abso fab location friendly staff but thats about it ! Room was basic and the bathroom stunk of stale urine very outdated bathroom suite the food was disgusting so how people are saying its beautifull beggers belief they care more about other guests then their coach party guests rooms are to close together theyve obviously crammed more in for more revenue 

If you stay avoid the food

Willowbank is a small hotel in Largs Scotland, within walking distance of the town. The food is plentiful ,3 different dishes for each course. The meat is well cooked ,no bullet veg,delicious food .the whole staff are terrific the bed is comfey, hotel is spotless .Viking 
museum nearby recommended,only £4 for senior,ferry to Cumbtae 15 min walk, wetherspoons, ice-cream parlour this small town has everything you could want

WHAT A FRIENDLY PLACE

We stayed one night which I'm grateful it was just that,  our room was by front door place stank of stale cigarettes probably because people smoke at the entrance or because room hasn't been upgraded since the 90s. (Back when people did smoke in the rooms)The avocado bathroom suite is tired and grubby looking the room itself needs a complete overhaul and brought upto date with the times, doors and walls so thin we may as well slept in lobby. The light shades was falling off the fittings on the wall, (tbh the whole room had seen better days and looked like it was just as dead inside as the staff) Staff questioned what room I was staying in when I sat for a cup of tea in morning and seemed unhelpful. I woke with a cough so bad you'd have thought I had smoking habit.  

Avoid

Had a fantastic couple of days at the Willowbank, we where well looked after by Paul the manager and Tracey from behind the bar.They where extremely busy looking after two coach party's, and a birthday party as well ,Nothing was to much for them , we where also well looked after as well by the  breakfast staff ,
The hotel is a wee bit dated and could do with a bit of a refurb ,apart from that,we had a fantastic stay.

Great stay 

Stayed at the Willowbank for 2 nights  from Friday the 3rd until Sunday 5th  March with Caledonian travel  we were here with friends we all had a great time. Paul the manager was a fantastic host he couldn’t do enough for us he made us feel really welcome nothing was too much trouble he is a great asset to the hotel also his staff they were all very attentive .Yasmin was our waitress during our stay and she was lovely also the chef who went out of his way to accommodate me. We requested a quiet room for ourselves and a ground floor room for our friends and that’s exactly what we got thank you.The bus stop is directly outside the hotel I think it was 3 stops into town and the local ferry which runs every 30 minutes to the island. We will be back soon thank you all Paula and David (room 34) and Karen and Ken (room 3)
