Terrible experience. Unfriendly staff, room barely good enough for sleeping. Lights in the room were flickering. Sheets and floor were dirty. Toilets did not flush, didn’t even consider showering here. You could hear every little sound outside the room. Only used the room for sleeping and left immediately after waking up. Did not feel safe here.

Never again

Upon arrival the manager was very rude, making inappropriate comments and made us feel very uncomfortable. He lacked courtesy and kept asking if we’d had a discount which was odd. He cut across us and we felt like school children. The manager lives in the building and stated he ‘sees everything’ and that we were lucky our room was right next to his desk - a very uncomfortable notion. The rooms were tiny and smelt damp. We decided not to stay at the property after we had a chat and all felt very uneasy. One of the group posted a review and the manager lied and said we were unhappy because we had only booked 3 beds - we had booked 4 and have the proof. The manager happily stated he had the code to the door and could enter at any time - another red flag. Also, the bathrooms are up on the first floor next to the male rooms which really can make a lady feel uncomfortable to go there in the middle of the night. Avoid!!

Avoid this place

The owner/manger is filthy mean alcoholic person. Something which is said about him in many reviews. I came a bit late tonight so asked if their is possibility to stay for one night. He first said yes but it will cost 60 pond double the price on the internet. And then he me there is a nice and big room available so let double check and he went inside and i was waiting outside and then when he came he told me to leave now and that he shouldn't have opened the door in the first. Ofcourse because he was drunk he didn't know what he was saying and just left and now that have seen al this reviews i am happy that he asked me to leave.

We booked for 3 nights and we only stayed one night as the room conditions is not for humans.
Carpet in the room was disgusting, all pillows was dirty.
Rooms door is not fit for a purpose. I can hear outside how they eating cereals. Bedroom doors are not fire doors, no smoke detections in the rooms. Windows are fitted with metal bars like a prison. No hope for an escape in event of fire. Bathroom is covered with mud.
Terrible!

I stayed on a Saturday night in a solo room  on the ground floor.  It was easy to check in and I was shown around the building.  The room was clean and the double bed was very comfortable.  It's not a posh place , but you already know this . But it did a good job of giving me what I needed . A clean bed for the night. The toilet seat was broken and probably will be for a while to come. But the manager was very nice and helpful.  I didn't know that there is on site parking for a small fee , so I parked in west street council carpark 5 minutes away.  The hostel is only 20 minutes walk from the main shopping area of Leeds and a two minutes from a pub which I was given a 10% discount voucher to use on food and drinks.  There's a Starbucks round the corner also. Even though there's free tea and coffee in the hostel.  Over very nice experience.  And I would go back as a solo traveller.  

Cheap and cheerful.  

Weekend away with my dad for the rugby at Headingly. Hostel is a great location barely a  5 minute walk into Leeds City Centre. 

great pub called the Editors Draught close by also with a few great Craft Beers and traditional ales.

Room was small and clean. For the price 0 complains. Hostel was quieter than I expected which was a bonus. Both Staff members where very friendly and hellpfull also.

Rugby trip

When I stayed at this place I booked two rooms 2 bunk beds, when I arrived my daughter and I during Covid September 18th 2021 was forced to sleep in a dorm of 6 beds. The manager was useless went out got drunk and spoke to my daughter in an inappropriate manner. There wasn't any appropriate lighting after 10pm in the Hallway and the manager slept on the sofa where we was supposed to sit and chat. There wasn't any appropriate lighting in the room we slept in, due to this I had an accident and hurt my arm as some selfish female took my items off my bed onto the floor so she could have the bottom bunk bed, as there wasn't any beds available. As I'm not used to going up on a top bunk bed and the room was pitch black, as I went to climb down from the bed in the darkness so I could use the toilet on the first floor. I couldn't see the ladder properly and slipped. I hurt my arm the management wasn't interested and didn't write the incident down in the accident book. I have opened an accident claim case with solicitors over this matter the management are calling me a liar and denying this incident occurred. This company false advertisement on Booking.com stating 24 hr desk reception and TV etc when this doesn't exist. I have a serious legal battle with this company on going and this review is to warn other people as this place is dangerous and not safe to stay at and the staff are really unprofessional and unfriendly. See photos below taken in the bathroom on the 1st floor taken a couple of hours after the accident occurred. I also took a photo 24 hours after the accident at home after the bruising come out.

Couldn't seem to get over the fact that i was effectively staying the night in an office....desks removed and beds added. It was however clean, extremely good value and the manager was attentive and ever present.

Phil was great

Stayed with 4 mates, great welcome and great setup. Easy to find, top value and decent brekky in the morning, couldn’t ask for more, cheers. Won’t let me add less than 200 characters, so I’ll just say thanks again to the guy who welcomed, Phil, I think.

Spot on

The hostel is small, not like most hostels. Once you pass Wellington St, the hostel is not that very easy to find.
The location is not too far from the train station but further away from main the high street and shopping complex.   In order to get to Millennium Square, where the Xmas markets are you have to walk across a car park and duel carriage way.  The staff sleep at the hostel and one of the annoying female staff actually sleeps in the dorm room, which is weird and leaves the window blind up when lights are on at night.  The shower only runs luke warm water, never hot water. When they are cleaning the place you gotta get out. You can't use the kitchen or toilet, unlike in other hostels. The only good thing I can say about this hostel is that it provides free breakfast.
