Came to stay when we celebrated my Mums 90th birthday. 

90th Birthday celebration

A great country B and B in a beautiful location with friendly hosts. We only stayed one night and the room, albeit small was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, as it was throughout. Breakfast was good with some buffet choice and a cooked breakfast.

First impressions of Curlew were fantastic. A wonderful warm welcome with delicious homemade cake, tea & great cafetière coffee in a stunning rural setting. 
The hosts really were lovely genuine people. 
The communal room where you have breakfast and sit in the evening, was sadly much lacking in character; it was not very comfortable nor well appointed. 
The room was very small. We were on the ground floor, however later in the evening this revealed to be a negative. The tv from the lounge was intrusive as was door opening and closing. 
I had noted from another review that doors cannot be locked from the outside before I booked. As we were staying just the one night, this did not bother me. However, if I had been staying for a longer period, I think I would have struggled with this. 
The reason this establishment has been given such a poor review is all down to the bedroom. It was slightly below ground level, with the base of the window just above the ground where sheep graze. I mention this, as it could have been a cause of the issue. The room was HOT, too hot. We felt like we were in a tropical country in February. My mother who has lived in South Africa, could not cope. We were sweating cobs. Duvets were thrown off the beds. We searched everywhere to find a radiator to manually turn the heat down, but there were none to be found. We had turned the thermostat on the wall right down an hour before going to bed. Yet the room was getting hotter throughout the night rather than cooling down. 
The beds did not help, they were the smallest single I’ve ever seen, my mother said she thought they’d stopped making the 2 foot ones when she was a child, but was certain that must be the size. We are average sized not on the light or heavy side. We both have BMIs in the normal range, so it was strange that the beds felt so small like we were falling out. 
I have had several spinal fusions, so I can definitely say if you have back problems the bed size will be an issue if you are an average size person. I am 5’4”. The mattress may be okay, not the best but certainly not a bad mattress for the back, but the constant near falling out of bed, making it impossible to change position frequently will affect you. My mother was so grumpy the following day. The heat from the room had given us blocked noses and stuffy heads. She had felt like she could not breathe at all, all night; she said she had not been able to sleep at all. This made her exhausted for several days. 
The cooked breakfast was very good with plenty of cereals and fruits to accompany it. 
Sadly, due to the experience of the heat and such a small room I would not recommend this B&B. However, the owners are lovely people.

Tiny Beds in a Sauna Hot Room

2 night stay. Beautiful clean, modern room with huge comfortable bed. Views over the Dales and sheep with their lambs right outside the window. Breakfast was great, not huge portions but tasty. Fruit, cereals, toast and cooked breakfast of your choice. They even had veggie sausages! Great base for exploring. Highly recommended.

First class countryside welcome

Lovely little find, really good location near Leyburn but in the countryside. Nice and friendly owners. Breakfast delicious, all home made products used. Only stayed for 1 night. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy our beautiful countryside.

Lovely find

A beautiful spot. Comfortable and clean with lovely friendly hosts. Pot of tea and cake on our arrival and a full cooked breakfast before leaving. Thank you  Chris and Peter for making our stay perfect.

Stopover en route to Scotland.

my husband and myself ,have just spent 2 nights here . the host chris was there to 
 greet us,and showed us to our room . which was spotlessly clean . lovely comfy bed .Breakfast was amazing all fresh ingredients very thing you could possibly want .even when i asked peter the husband who waited on  . for something extra is was no trouble ,lovely quite place with great views for sitting out and relaxing.Will definateley be returning .thanks for a lovely weekend Lynn Gary of boston spa yorkshire

Stayed at Curlew Barn for one night and was made to feel very welcome by our hosts Chris and Peter. Lovely room, tasty breakfast and very dog friendly. We had sheep for neighbours, and the location was excellent We will be back soon. 

Great B and B

I stayed with my partner for one, during a weekend trip to the dales. Set down a small single track lane surrounded by fields. We stayed in the downstairs room which had a rather cute addition of morning visits from the sheep in the surroundings fields who came to lick the dew off the window. 
The hosts Peter abd Chris were delightful, nothing was too much trouble. In hindsight we'd wished we'd booked to stay for longer.

Idealic stay in the countryside

We had a delightful stay at Curlew Barn with our dog. 
The B & B has a stunning setting and is on a very quiet road so you have total peace and quiet. The view from our room was delightful over the fields, we couldn't bring ourselves to close the curtains. 
You are also well looked after - the owners are such a lovely couple and really helpful. They recommended a nice walk for us and helped make our dog feel as welcome as we did. 
The measures they have in place re covid-19 seem very robust, and the room was very clean, so you can relax and feel safe in the beautiful surroundings. 
Thankyou very much Chris and Peter, we very much hope to visit again.
