This hotel is right in the centre  of Askrigg. Private parking is available. The hotel has recently been taken over. The rooms were freshly decorated. The breakfast and evening meals were delicious. My main praise is for John when he rescued us after a hotel in Hawes let us down. So helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Middle House.

Wonderful family run hotel

A traditional hotel with a contemporary feel, the 'Middle House' in a beautiful village. The restaurant and bar are both really great spaces to meet with friends and enjoy a night of superb food and enjoy an excellent variety of branded beverages. Service was excellent all night. My favourite seat is by the fire, so be sure to not sit there. 

The hotel room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The traditional breakfast and coffee was top quality. I am already trying to arrange a return date to enjoy it all again.

An excellent evening with friends

Regular visitor to askrigg, I was last in this pub just before xmas and I cannot believe the transformation since then. The bar area especially looks class. We were nearby and called in to suprise my parents who were staying for afew nights. The new landlord and staff are all really welcoming and incredibly polite. We stayed for afew drinks but as my parents dont have tripadvisor feel it a disservice to not mention their comments and share their pictures. They both said the breakfast was quite possibly the best they've ever had whilt staying away and their evening meal was just as impressive - "tasty,well presented,lovely and hot in temperature and really polite girl serving us. Everyone was so polite"
Askrigg is an amazing little village with 3 pubs and slightly overlooked by its busy neighbour hawes but that's why we like it. Less crowds. Lots of great walks from here especially up to the waterfall and a great bus service by the little white bus company to the surrounding villages inc hawes and back. Wishing the new owners all the success they will clearly achieve!

New owners. Refurb. Superb

Lovely Wensleydale experience. We didn't stay here but have had some of the best food ever. Absolutely amazing quality and delicious. The staff are lovely and to top it off for me (being a county player) there is a pool table! Garden is lovely as well :)

Great food and customer service

A Birthday treat, good cooking, with fair pricing and prompt and courteous service. A short and straightforward menu that delivers value for money. Fast and prompt service throughout our meal, the wine offering in particular is fair and well balanced.
We shall return 👍

A Well Executed Birthday Treat

We ate in restaurant, meal was fabulous, cooked really well , all fresh produce. Staff were friendly and attentive, honestly couldn't recommend it more , definitely give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Fab evening meal

Car parking in the hotel was good. We stayed for a long weekend in a comfortable room. We had a couple of armchairs in front of the tv which was good although the tv itself was ancient and only got a few channels. 
The weather was misty and a bit chilly but when the heating came on it was snug.
Breakfasts and evening meals were good and the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
We enjoyed playing on the pool table in the bar. 
The chap running the hotel told us he is in the process of buying it. He is very hard working so deserves to make a success of it.

We will be back

The White Rose Hotel in Askrigg is a lovely and welcoming hotel with comfortable rooms and on-premise pub and restaurant.  It is right in the center of the Yorkshire Dales national park and close to all major attractions. The surrounding countryside is idyllic and beautiful.  

When we were there, the hotel was just going through a change of ownership and John, the new owner was so very welcoming, gracious, and helpful.  Within a day, we were on first-name terms with him and most of the staff.  Even though John was still in the process of taking charge of the hotel and so had a lot to do, he worked very hard to make the most of our visit; including calling in some local contacts to get prompt medical assistance for one of our party who fell ill.  
   
The meals at the White Rose were uniformly excellent.  Breakfast, which was included with our stay, was very good indeed.   The litmus test of a good breakfast is the ability to make good poached eggs—are the yokes still runny and melt into the toast, but not *too* runny, if you know what I mean?  The poached eggs were perfect, as were the rest of the traditional British breakfast offerings.  The evening meals were also very good with Yorkshire fare prominent: meat pies, steamed veg, and the like.  Yum.  The bar was friendly and mostly populated by local townsfolk and farmers.

John and the hotel staff were very knowledgeable about the local area and suggested trips that were most memorable.  Recommended: Bolton Castle and the Swaldale Woolens store in Muker.  The store features sweaters made from locally dyed wool from local sheep raised by local farmers hand-knitted by local women.  Very special in this world of mass-produced products.  

And this sums up our time in the Dales—a lovely holiday in lovely hotel staffed by lovely people in a truly lovely part of England. 

A lovely boutique hotel nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales

A beautiful little Yorkshire town with short drives and walks that give a great feeling to Yorkshire Dales country. This seems a family affair with staff multi-skilling from morning to night and helping out whenever asked. Ask for parking out the back of the hotel, and ask about maps for the 15 walking in the district: the two we did were well described and excellent way to spend half days.

Great staff and a hotel on the rise

The staff are great very welcoming and happy to help however the hotel is in dire need of a make over.  The carpets are awful and look threadbare in places, the decor is like something from 1950s.  The TV is tiny with very limited channels.  The bathroom is dated but clean.  I was a bit taken aback that the room does not get cleaned on a daily basis... The price £90 per night is pretty steep for what you get.  The breakfast was served hot and fresh but limited choices.  The food in the evening again very limited people with allergies will struggle.  The village closes down on a Tuesday and Wednesday... There is not much to do.  If you are looking for a picturesque place with nothing going on apart from walking (although the footpath's are limited... then this is a good place for you.
