Beautiful room in a beautiful B&B with lovely staff, 5 mins walk to Cathedral, Castle and Town, breakfast was so tasty, view from dining room fantastic, everything about this place is amazing! We will return.

First visit to Lincoln

The guest house is situated up the hill close to the castle and Cathedral.  There is limited parking but can be booked in advance.
The rooms are extremely comfortable with a large en-suite.
Breakfast was a huge range of cereals, yoghurt, pastries, omelettes, cheese and meat platters and almost unlimited toast with a large variety of jam.
I would highly recommend this place to you as a fabulous place to stay in Lincoln.

What a find

You can see why its popular from the initial  enquiry  to our departure the guest house wes exceptional  the owner  was professional  caring and it was blatantly  obvious  he wanted to give his guests the best possible time.the establishment  was absolutely  spotless  warm and comfortable. Breakfast  was extremely  varied   and generous and of the same high standard  parking  space  was valuable  asset and minutes away from quality  eateries and tourists to do lists.
A little taste of paradise nothing  negative  to review and definitely  one to remember  and recommend

Brilliant location very close to the cathedral , castle and all the local shops bars and restaurants but also very quiet .
Lovely comfy fully equipped room .
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful , a huge range of options for breakfast , all made with locally sourced ingredients .
Would highly recommend stopping here if you're visiting Lincoln.

Fantastic Hotel

JUST within walking distance of the railway station (that's how we arrived), The Poplars is situated at the top of an ever-steepening hill.  If you have lots of luggage or you're in any way not fit, then a taxi is advisable.  If you drive, there are spaces - just remember to reserve a place with your booking.

Ring the doorbell, the polite staff will quickly answer and will show you up the stairs to your room.  This place is a beautifully appointed Victorian house; each room has its own keycode on the door, no keys required.  The room itself was quirkily shaped but wonderfully furnished, the bathroom suite demanded a special mention.   The view out of our 2nd floor room was stunning, taking in as it did a vista to the South West across the Lincolnshire Plains.

Breakfast is served at 8.30, 9, or 9.30 - it's a selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, plus some cooked-to-order items such as omelette.

The price didn't hurt, and was fully in keeping with a really nice B&B.  The staff and hosts were pleasant and approachable; all in all a wonderful experience.

A beautiful B&B in a stunning Victorian house. The room we stayed in was so lovely & beautifully decorated. The bathroom through a quaint hidden door was modern & stylish with plenty of hot water & soft fluffy towels. A very well stocked tea & coffee tray in the room & the tea selection is outstanding fresh milk too. We had the added bonus of a fridge in the room. Very comfortable bed & Netflix in the room & free WiFi. Breakfast choice was very good and ample. We noted that all the food & drink offered, cutlery & crockery etc were all sourced locally or hand made locally which was a really nice touch & supports local businesses too. We were greeted on arrival by friendly staff & the owners Martin & Heike popped into the breakfast room each room to chat to the guests, very approachable & happy to give suggestions for places to visit or eat. There is parking available which is a great bonus in a city. As other have mentioned, the driveway access is steep, the owners have a system in place for parking which works well. The property is well located with most attractions within a few minutes walk either uphill towards the cultural area of the Castle, Cathedral & Steep Hill shops or down hill towards the main shopping area & the waterfront for boat trips & bars / restaurants. All in all a very nice place! 

Very enjoyable stay!

THE best independent B&B I have ever stayed at. Beautifully presented. Attention to detail is faultless. The first time I have ever been met in the carpark and been offered help with my baggage to the room.
Then given a map of local attractions and personal recommendations for restaurants and pubs. My room was lovely. There's a book in the room explaining the roots of this establishment and the owners should be proud of their accomplishments and of the staff they employ. I will definitely return with friends and recommend wholeheartedly. If you can get it, book it!

13 -15 May - Due to not having a honeymoon we had a few days break here.The owners were away however the staff were  pleasant and happy to help us.
Our room was very clean and warm ( a fan was provided in case we were to warm). We also  had a good choice of coffee and teas in our room . Fresh milk in the fridge was a pleasant surprise. Very comfortable bed.
The beakfast was a Continental breakfast good with plenty of choice.
We read all the information provided and knew that the B&B is on hill but we were well situated for visiting the Cathedral,  Castle and restaurants. 
We would not hesitate to recommend staying in the unique characteristics property. We will be back soon. Jo and Ray x

This characterful property is cosy and homely. Really helpful and friendly hosts and staff.  The Poplars is really conveniently  located been within easy walking distance of Lincoln"s historic sites and restaurants.
