Lovely pub, well located, very pleasant staff. Food was exceptional as was the service. 
The room was basic but clean enough. 
The log burner hasn’t worked for years which disappointed us.. the pub is cold as a result. People wore coats to breakfast.

Another great stay at this pub/B&B, fantastic breakfast, a very good choice of food on the menu for lunch and dinner.  Very clean and pleasant rooms with tea and coffee making facilities.  The staff always go the extra mile to provide excellent service.

Faultless

Warm welcome, well equipped, spacious room, well cooked food and very good value. We liked Llandovery as well and enjoyed a circular walk past the Llewelyn ap Gryffidd statue, through the fields, with views of Llandovery and the hills. The train service on  a Transport for Wales train was good as well.

Stayed on a last minute booking as I had a funeral to attend ….

Very comfortable room , lovely fluffy towels , plenty of toiletries..
Car parking as well ….
Had a beautiful evening meal and the breakfast was good .
The staff are really friendly and there was a really nice atmosphere in the bar ….

Stopped into hotel on way back from holiday in Pembroke booked via booking.com day before. warm welcome on arrival, stayed in twin room on 2nd floor. place is dated but this is not a modern hotel but a very old but charming hotel. good shower and bathroom very quiet over night so good sleep. all areas and bar toilets spotless!! The couple managing hotel were pleasant and hard working always on hand.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Have been here for food during the Sheep festival weekend. Had a good meal then so decided to try Sunday lunch. Reasonably priced and good food. Friendly staff and lovely pub. Will definitely call again.  Well worth a visit.

We had two lovely nights here. All the staff were so professional and looked after us very well. The food was excellent and we ate there on both nights. The room was spotless and very comfortable. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend it. Thank you.

Lovely place to stay

My parents ate Sunday lunch here on Sept 11th, and thoroughly enjoyed it. They are both very fussy eaters, so positive comments from them are high praise indeed!

I have previously eaten here on a few occasions, each of which was very enjoyable, with tasty and well-presented food and good service.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant. It's not a 5-star resort, but it provides good meals in a pleasant atmosphere at a very reasonable price.

We arrived here on the last evening of our biking holiday. We checked into our room. It was tired, dated, filthy kettle, but we didn’t use it.
We had the family room despite there being only two of us. It was all they had at time of booking.
The double bed had seen better days, springs poking through. We slept in the single beds.
We had dinner and drinks and retired to our room. 

Next morning we went to breakfast, no staff around, self service from selection on table. Poor choices, just cereal, poor quality jam, tea and coffee in flasks. I wasn’t aware cooked breakfast was on offer.
Seeing as there is an extra charge for breakfast .
I was disappointed that out of the small selection of cereal only coco pops was left, the fruit and fibre empty boxes littered the table. So, I went to the kitchen door and asked if I could have a box of fruit and fibre.

A man came out and said he would check the table first.
He then gave me a small box of cereal. The coffee flask was empty so we asked for some.
There were about 8/10 other diners in  the restaurant at the time.

The man gave us a pre order form to order our food.
When the food came it was not great, then there was the baked bean dish….with a big chip in the side.
When the man asked if everything was ok. I told him no, the dish was contaminated and needed throwing away. I couldn’t eat the beans or food that had touched the dish.
He went and got the chef, who apologised and said he’d thrown the dish away. No replacement offered.
He then went on to say he had no waitress, 18 covers and we didn’t pre order the night before. 
We didn’t know about pre order, didn’t know I was getting broken crockery either!
He then explained we must understand where he is coming from.
The whole breakfast was a shambles.

When we checked out the Chef had his receptionist hat on and then said the waitress from the previous evening was his wife. 
We didn’t declare we were having breakfast. Perhaps, that is because we were ordering dinner.
Again he could not accept I was a paying customer and the service was shoddy.

Maybe communication was not a strong point or customer relations, yet he appeared to speak quite good English for a second language. He charged us full price for a horrible breakfast. He didn’t want to understand our disappointment, but he kept repeating we must understand him and tried to put the onus on us.

I really don’t know where these glowing reviews come from.
I had a great holiday in Wales with a bad experience here, thank goodness it was our last night, I wouldn’t return if they offered a freebie, shoddy and poor all round.

Disappointed!

We're just back from our second stay at this charming pub, everything was again perfect.  The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and it is always service with a friendly greeting and smile.  The food is wonderful from the big cooked breakfast to the food in in the restaurant.
