Absloutley terrible, only stayed 15 minutes and left, could not possibly have slept in such a grotty room, paid on arrival for 2 nughts with card, was told i would be refunded never happened, knew i wouldnt get anything back but didnt care just wanted to get out of place

My friend and I stayed two nights here whilst attending a show at the Builth Wells Showground. We paid £33-ish a night each for bed and breakfast.
We had trouble finding a late-ish booking and expected this to be awful for the price but I was very pleasantly surprised by the peace and quiet, the standard of cleanliness and the value for money. We were there on Friday and Saturday nights.
I saw nothing of the conditions described in other reviews, and suggest that people make their own mind up by giving them a chance.
Everything was fresh and clean throughout. Our bedroom had crisp new curtains. The bathroom had a nice shower, etc (the sink was a little small, and I could have done with a hook or two for my clothes, but this is nitpicking really.) and the water was hot.
Bed was comfy enough. And the room smelled right when we walked in.
Breakfast was adequate. I don’t eat cooked breakfast but was satisfied with muesli and toast and unlimited coffee.
Staff all friendly and accommodating!

Pleasantly surprised at the value for money here!

Overall the hotel is adequate for a one night stay, the staff are very friendly and there is a well stocked bar. If you are on a motorcycle there is a secure lock up which is great.
There is a great Indian restaurant about 200 meters away. 
Now for the not so good, both mattresses in our room were in desperate need of replacing and there was a strong smell of damp in the corridor. Breakfast was good apart from the beans, a shame to spoil a decent meal by going ultra cheap on one thing.

Reasonable

This is a budget hotel and for three of us on a short motorcycling tour of Wales it suited perfectly! 
Locked covered storage for our bikes was a very good start. Decent bar with free pool table and friendly locals maintained the good experience. The rooms were basic and I’ve slept in more comfortable beds but clean, warm and perfectly adequate. Rooms had decent showers, breakfast served until 9.30 and a really good curry house just across the road. Really can’t fault it. Would I choose this place for a romantic mini break? Probably not but that’s not why we selected it. For our purposes it was spot on and thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Motorcycle trip.

I never actually made it through the door as I read the reviews just before and canceled my booking the day before and found a lovely place 1/4 mile away. The reviews were unbelievably bad, possibly the worst I have ever seen. Ironically when we arrived at the other pub there were four undesirable drunks in there and they were just being asked to leave. The bar staff apologized for their behavior and said that they don't normally come in here and that they  usually drink in the Hampton's. Another reason not to go there. Avoid at all costs. There is a lovely place just behind Tesco's, go there instead.

We dodged a bullet by not checking in and found somewhere nice and clean instead.

Awful place, checked in and were given key to room 3 opened door and someone already in there, got key to room 1,  very depressing room , very dim light, dark grey walls dark grey bedding , tiny tv, sat on bed and felt dirty and itchy , could not stay there, would rather have slept in car to be honest, we left after 20 mins , still waiting for refund but not holding breath, we booked another hotel in the town

didnt stay awful place

We arrived a little early but we’re warmly welcomed and advised check in would be 3pm, however the rooms were ready earlier and we checked in at 2pm which was fab. We did manage to park in the car park although it is a bit small. One of our group had to park in the street but this didn’t cause any problems. Some  of our friends arrived by motorbikes a little later and were able to park them in the secure garage around the side of the hotel. The rooms were basic and a couple of things could have been improved, like the bedside lamp and the wall light in the bathroom, but the rooms were clean and and the beds comfortable.   All the staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. We had coffee in the restaurant part of the hotel (Worth the Salt) and later had our evening meals and breakfast the following morning in there. The staff again were very pleasant and the food was lovely, hot and tasty. There were 14 friends in our group and the food came out in good time and all together. 
All in all we had a fab time in this hotel. Ok it was a budget hotel but we knew this when we booked and the decent price maybe reflected this. If you’re after a 4 star hotel then look elsewhere, but this was a good budget hotel and a decent price and we’ll definitely be going back. 

Reunion of friends

The most disgusting place I have ever seen. I refuse to call it a hotel as it's akin to a doss house. It took all of a minute in the room to decide we weren't staying. Large yellow stains on the mattress and told by receptionist that all rooms are the same... need I say more.

Utterly disgusting in every way imaginable 

My fault and only my fault for booking this place. I can't even call it a hotel. I should have read the reviews first. 
What a desperate place. We never even unpacked. It took us 10 mins to make our mind up to leave. It was smelly, dirty, bathroom was a joke and the flush on the toilet reminded me of something from Steptoe and Son. We tried to.leave quietly without any fuss but that wasn't possible with the creaky stairs.

Absolutely bloody disgusting. It was like a mental asylum but worse. Loads of flea bites. Food was undercooked/overcooked Rather would of stayed in a hospital than this... Woken up at 3 in the morning by local druggies outside swearing I could've rated it a 0 if I could. I know it is a budget friendly hotel but atleast make it cleaner..🤢 Disgusting! Had to fake a family emergency to get out shower was full of mold damp smelly rooms biscuits that we was given was out of date. Trust me. You can find much better hotels! Will never stay there again! Tap water had dirt floating around in it. We had to leave and got Greggs... Said there was a help your self chinese but no! The way it is pet friendly is absolutely disgusting it looks like it needs a good clean.
