I booked this place only going on reviews from what I previously read for a surprise weekend getaway for my partners birthday and I’m glad I did. I can’t tell you how lovely this place was and how accommodating the host is. 
I asked if possible banners could be put in the room for a surprise for my partners birthday and not only were there banners but also a bottle of wine and party poppers for us which was a lovely touch. 
The choice of breakfasts were delicious and as long as you let them know the evening before what time you would like breakfast, it was ready for you the following morning at the requested time. 
The town is only a short 10 minute walk away with a few pubs to stop in on the way. The guesthouse is also surrounded by beautiful walks. 
This is definitely a place I would like to return too.

Weekend birthday getaway.

Stayed here for one night. The landlady is a gem. On arrival a pot of tea and Welsh cakes. Room was clean, bed very comfy. Breakfast was amazing _ fruit, cereals, toast, fried breakfast, all excellent.

A fabulous guesthouse

We arrived after a very long journey to be met by Maxine. She asked if we would like a tea/coffee but as we were hungry we declined the kind offer on order to seek a meal. We were shown to the attic room which is spacious but in need of some TLC.  Not really suitable for those with mobility issues as the stairs were winding, narrow and steep.

There was tea/coffee making facilities and the room had a tiny TV and also an en-suite shower room. There was a double bed and two singles.

Maxine gave us some suggestions for eating out and asked us to place our order for breakfast. We were given a key to the front door and off we went to explore nearby Crickhowell. It didn’t take long to walk there and we had a nice bar supper in ‘The Bear’.

The next morning we had breakfast which was lovely, well cooked and also a selection of fruit and cereal. A definite highlight of the visit.

Unfortunately the house itself appears very ‘tired’ and the decor is dated. There was an abundance of dust on the various surfaces. The front entrance could be off putting for some guests as it is covered in spiders webs. 

The  bedding was clean, but the shower badly needs new grouting/sealant. 

The property is for sale so perhaps that’s the reason there’s no apparent investment in the decor etc.

I wouldn’t return, but thank Maxine for her hospitality.

Has the potential to be a lovely B&B

This is a lovely little gem, first time we have been away with the dog and it was great.
Lovely landlady..we were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived.
Our room was very nice and the bed was nice and comfortable.
Great breakfast, my husband had a full Welsh breakfast and i opted for the continental both of which were scrummy with plenty to eat and drink.
I would highly recommend a stay here, ideally situated for all the lovely walks in the area.

Park Place overlooks the quaint village of Crickhowell in the Welsh hills. 
For cheapest rates phone her and book direct. 
Maxine is a superlative hostess and a great cook. 
Guests have a choice of breakfasts which are all very hearty. 
I stayed in the attic room which overlooks countryside from one window and the village from the other. 
The town's lovely pubs are a short walk away - try The Dragon Inn and the Bridge End Inn for lovely meals, traditional décor and open fires.
There are several walks beginning in the village and for the more adventurous, one of Europe's most extensive cave networks.

Welcoming home in a good location

Signage in the entrance hall, Come as strangers, leave as friends. Boy oh boy that’s what my husband and I certainly experienced. Maxine made us feel valued from the word go after traveling for a good few hours, this was the ice breaker. 

We had the Honeysuckle room in the attic. The little things like hot chocolate and biscuits in the beverage basket, a chocolate on each pillow and the added decor took my breath away. Even the view had a lot to offer, with lush green hills in both directions. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a good nights sleep on both nights.

Breakfast was plentiful and outstanding. We certainly didn’t leave hungry. The kippers are the best I’ve ever had, as I didn’t want a big breakfast on the second morning. Maxine was also kind enough to make up a tuck box for my better half due to him having a very early start. We both opted for the Welsh breakfast on our first morning, more than I could cope with, though it didn’t go to waste.

Thank you Maxine for making us feel very welcome, you added that personal touch. Thank you also to your children for added their mark by adding little things to the B&B, we never knew what would greet us around the corner.

A quaint hidden gem.

We stayed as a group with a couple and a mother and daughter. Comfortable beds in a quaint room tucked under the eaves. Short walk over the bridge to the town. Friendly host. SOme rooms ahve ensuite whilst others share with another room. 
Lovely and quiet with great vies ver the hills rom one side and over the Usk on the other.
