Stayed at Ty Mawr Manor House as part of a wedding party in August, along with the house we also had the cottages and studio for wedding guests on site. The grounds were beautiful also went into the studio and one of the cottages for a look around both were clean and spacious. The Manor House was ideal as had lots of space it didn’t feel like we were on top of each other, everything was clean there were no issues - something to note there is not a lot of car parking spaces on the grounds 

Wedding party 

Our party of 18 adults and 3 children enjoyed a long weekend, staying in Ty Mawr and Coedlys. The setting was ideal for our special occasion and everyone departed feeling very blessed and uplifted by the peaceful setting and surroundings. It was our second visit, having enjoyed an amazing wedding party there last year, so we knew what to expect and were not disappointed. The dining room at Ty Mawr accommodated our party for an excellent celebration dinner, with Outside Food providing the catering. A really memorable weekend - thanks as ever to Jen and James for the welcome.

Perfect for our family gathering!

We stayed at Ty Mawr for a week. House looked stunning on arrival and beds and bathrooms clean. Great communication by email before arrival and met James on arrival who was very nice. We appreciated a cable provided to charge our electric car. The house provided great space for our party of 6 adults and 7 children. It does however require updating and a deep clean. The kitchen is very dated with some cupboards not having handles. The layout is awkward with the fridge and dishwasher in an adjoining room. There is a second utility room with washing machine and toilet. The bathrooms would also benefit from updating. The curtains in the bathroom are an odd choice and annoying over the sink. The curtains in our bedroom also did not fit and there was a considerable gap at the bottom which looked odd. From a safety point of view, there were a few windows upstairs which open fully but had no or minimal safety bars. This is definitely something to be aware of if travelling with young children. I had hoped from website description that the children could have a few fun games on the tennis court but neither the trampoline or tennis court are usable! Although there are picnic benches along the gravel path, there is a missed opportunity to have a nice table and chairs outside the french doors in the dining room (which are difficult to open, they need a nudge from outside). The kitchen is dark in the morning and a more accessible outside space would be lovely. There was no WiFi available at any time throughout our stay. Although I appreciate somewhere like this could be a money pit, I do think it is teetering on the edge of acceptable. I would love to revisit if it had a sympathetic update. 

Faded Beauty

We had no 6 in the corner of the courtyard.  On arrival it was clean and well presented.  The French doors lead out into a private garden with picnic bench and a gate into the wooded area.  This is quite a delightful setting.  It was easy to get around this part of Anglesey to find the coastal path and some lovely beaches.
There were a few minor niggles at the cottage however - light bulbs which didn't work and we had to keep resetting the boiler every day to get hot water.  We thought the shrubs at the front of the cottage were too overgrown and cut out a lot of light coming into the windows.  Also the willow trees in the rear garden needed a trim so that you didn't get bashed in the face by a branch and also to let more sunlight into the garden and patio.  Not big issues but suggest a bit more maintenance needed.  I am being picky - we did have an enjoyable week away and almost forgot about the horrible pandemic!

Cosy cottage in a quiet location

Great time in a larger property. Weather iffy. Property was perfect for our group of 4a+3c. Plenty of good facilities: lots of character. Quiet. Small glitches: main weaknesses were the efficiencies of the showers. We would happily repeat

Enjoyed 

We booked number 5 in April 2021.  
The good news is:  the pretty cottage was very warm, there was a private garden, (with picnic bench) and plenty of hot water.
The bad news:  the shower was dreadful, NO WiFi at all, the mattresses and sofa need replacing, and the kitchen was poorly equipped. The cooker and pans were really old and the cupboards shabby. We didn’t use the washer as there would have been nowhere to hang wet clothes. The wardrobe door had to be wedged closed using a bin and the bath mat we were instructed to use for safety reasons, didn’t exist. Neither did the bin bags we were requested to use at the end of our stay for towels and bedding. There was also no folder with useful local information in the cottage..
With a bit of investment and more thought about what visitors need, this cottage could have been fantastic - as it was, we left after 5 nights, desperate for a decent shower and comfy bed. 

Warm but very tired

There is a group of holiday cottages surrounding a courtyard. We had #3 which is spacious and comfortable. On arrival it was very clean and had just been fogged for Cov19. As with many heavily used holiday accommodations some fixtures are a little tired, I also recognise that 2020 hasn't been the year for expensive refits. 
What we especially liked is the location....an easy walk to the beach and this side of the island tends to be more sheltered from the winds too. 
All we needed was there for self catering meals. It was warm and cosy...even when there was snow on the mountans. Beds were comfy. Good recycling facilties. Free Wifi was flakey.
I would recommend for families with children and/or dogs. 
Will almost certainly choose to stay at Tros Yr Afon again.

Comfy cottage in ideal location

I recently stopped in the studio on my visit to Anglesea for a week I was very impressed when I first arrived the setting is beautiful and its so quite, just what I wanted I didn't even see anyone there on my 7 day visit the studio was very nice and cosy and I really enjoyed my stay, Anglesea is a dream place there is so much to do Its unreal to name a few highlights, zip world, the copper trail, Anglesea race circuit, south stack and walking up Snowdon and countless beautiful villages around the coast, the tros Yr afon holiday cottages are the perfect launch pad to explore the island and give you memories to last a lifetime. If only you do 2 things u must do Snowdon and go on the fastest zip wire in the world  across the slate quarry near Bangor. 👍🙂

Tros Yr afon 

I stayed here in a group of seven friends with a dog, the booking having been made by one of them.

James, the owner, explained to us that the various cottages at Tros yr Afon are of different sizes, and one of them is entirely on the ground floor.  There is space for only one car per cottage in the main parking area, and there is an easy to get to overflow parking area.

While the bedrooms were rather cosy in our cottage, Ty Pant, my (bunk) bed was comfortable.  The main sitting room was very spacious, with a wood burning fire adding to its luxurious ambience.  The dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas were adequate although the upstairs landing has quite a few steps up and down in a very short space.  There is also a small garden just for the cottage, which was also the best route to the overflow parking area.

Shortly after our arrival a couple of airlocks were found in the radiators.  When James popped round to check that we were settling in this was reported to him.  After a few minutes he returned with a bleeding key, attended to the airlocks, and left the key with us in case the problem should recur during our stay, which it did not.

The decor throughout Ty Pant was designed to be inoffensive, although there was the odd spot where some minor attention was required - presumably normal wear and tear.  The boiler in the cottage may be a little undersized for the demands we put on it - it pays to run the hot water into the bath with the tap not fully open in order to get the water hot enough.  The boiler also tripped during our stay but as the instructions for dealing with this are kept with the boiler we were able to sort this ourselves. The oven seemed a little underpowered at times as well, although this may have been due to the quantity of food we were cooking in it - e. g. cooked breakfast for seven hungry adults.  There is also a micowave oven.

For me the most annoying feature was that there were no hooks on the doors in the bedrooms and bathrooms, so no where convenient to hang a dressing gown.

These cottages are conveniently situated for Beaumaris, convenient to get to and from whilst also being in a relatively secluded and quiet spot.  We had no problems with noise coming from the guests in the other cottages during our stay.

If you can put up with some relatively minor inconveniences then this is a pleasant, reasonably priced, and generally well appointed place to stay.  It is a suitable base for a do it yourself holiday in Anglesey and/or North West Wales.

Very good for a group of friends.

Looked forward to this mini break and was impressed when we arrived sadly the little cottage we stayed in is in desperate need of some tlc 
The kitchen was grubby and lacking in utensils to cook with. Does it need 9 baking trays and 8 types of kitchen knife ? Yet no mixing spoons, only two saucepans and a tiny frying pan. 
The underside of the cupboards around the oven and toaster were covered with cooking food splatters. 
The dining area chairs are very wobbly and the curtains come off the end when drawn as the end plastic stoppers are missing! 
The shower was pathetic and pretty pointless to be honest. 
We’ve stayed in a lot better for less although it’s not about the cost it’s about the standards. 
To be fair we did arrive an hour early and although they said it was finished it hadn’t been checked through, but I doubt they’d have fixed the issue we’ve highlighted
