Loverly hotel its basic but clean . rooms or warm and cosy .Thay do a realise help your self breakfast staff or loverly pub is nice and thay have live entertainment. The hotel is on a little road not far from the centre 

The little Hotel Inspector 

The Hand Hotel, It has its own carpark and is so central to everything. The Staff are so helpful and we had a wonderful evening looking at the wild life on the river while sipping drinks at the open air beer garden. It also had a walk to a seating area and garden by the river. The rooms are all sizes, spacious , clean, well equipped with hair dryers , tea and coffee facilities. The rooms are also well appointed with views over the village or river or garden. The stables for the horses that pull the barges are near by also, The food was delicious and breakfast was buffet style allowing you to take what you felt like eating, the way you like to eat it. There was also a court yard area for those who liked to drink or smoke outside, as all the rooms are non smoking. Staff wanted to know about any allergies or special requests, which they accommodated swiftly. I highly recommend this hotel , it is dog friendly and the bar area is cosy and welcoming, but there is no lift but some  rooms are on the 1st floor and the stairs were not steep. The whole Hotel was decorated well and the chandelier was lovely to see in the restaurant. We are going next year too. See you there!

What a fabulous hotel we are so glad we found it.

Excellent staff here its old hotel but very clean wardrobes bit dated but it maybe to go with hotel we found that this area has listed grades so Windows are sash type .but views of river are worth the visit breakfast was faultless nice barman as well 

Nice hotel nice staff but drafty

Staff were lovely- helpful and pleasant. Can not fault. 
However this hotel is in desperate need of refurb. Shabby, wallpaper hanging off, like a bad hotel in blackpool, freezing shower took about ten mins to heat up. Breakfast was just about edible after 45 min wait - felt sorry for young girl she was working hard and the breakfast man was lovely 
Someone needs to shut this place down and invest a million pounds or two. The price is not in keeping with the standard.

Faulty towers but not as funny

We needed to eat and ended up in here, And boy were we impressed! lthough the inside is dated and that is evident as you walk in, to be fair it was even more evident how CLEAN it was! All that said it is due to close for a major refurb and can only imagine how much better is will be when it reopens and just hope it keeps that very welcoming feel as you come in off the street.

We had our meal there and the food was excellent! the staff were so lovely too.

Excellent food

We stayed here for one night and that was enough.
The room was shoddy with cheap painted furniture that should have been on the scrap heap. We had to ask to have the pillow cases changed as the ones on the bed were either not ironed or hadn’t been changed, to be fair they were changed immediately. The bed throw was stuffed in a cupboard and the curtain tie backs weren’t even used, giving the room the sense of not having been cleaned. We didn’t think to check the bed sheets as they were the same,  either not ironed or used. We did complain to the management and they were apologetic and offered us a 25% discount on another visit to see how they can do things better!  We have since found out that the hotel is under new management, hopefully things will improve as it’s a lovely old building with lots of character in a fabulous location.

Had a fantastic stay, food was lovely! Staff very friendly and accommodating. Amazing river views.
Stayed in room 205 Which has beautiful views of the river. 
Hotel is a little dated however is having a refurb very soon, can’t wait to see the improvements.

Fantastic location

arrived..tuesday to a very dated hotel..our room was hilarious as you felt like you were at sea as it tipped to the left.I put a hot drink on the dressing table which slipped of all over my baggage due to the subsidence in the room..we left Thursday morning,although booked in untill the Friday.we our now at another location..we just feel a refund for the thursday night wouldn't be  a reasonable ask as the room was awfull not even a phone,plus my rucksack full of coffee.Shame as the area is lovely

midweek break

Ideally  situated  .we went to the hotel with our dog. Which was welcomed .friendly staff 10 out 10 room a little dated but spotlessly  clean 9 out 10 .breakfast 10 out 10.waitresses excellent in bringing the breakfast down to the bar for us as dogs (understandably) not allowed in restaurant .beautiful baloney  over looking the river.

Friendly  hotel

Four of us visited the hotel on a Saturday morning for coffee and tea. Tea was a teabag in a cup so I asked for a pot of hot water to put it in. The milk jug was filthy inside so another was asked for and that was equally as bad. On mentioning this to one of the many service staff she said it was because the crockery was old ! We had to wait for cups to drink from. The extra hot water for the teas tasted of coffee and the pot was equally as dirty. A manager turned up and we did say that the whole experience was appalling. He offered us an extra biscuit and went away! Bad management and appalling service
