Very comfortable accommodation.  Great value for money and a perfect base to explore the area. Situated in the heart of the beautiful village of Trefin, a stone’s throw from the coast and the pub, which I also recommend for food and real ale..

A gem of a hostel

I was walking the Coast path from Strumble Head and got beaten by a combination of the weather, the terrain and my age!!  In desperation I called in at the Youth Hostel to see whether they could put me up for the night. 

Paul, the owner/manager was brilliant. 

He fixed me up with a really comfortable room with bunk beds and it’s own shower

Next morning it was down to the communal kitchen. “Help yourself to whatever you want” said Paul

There were cupboards full of every conceivable brand of flakes/muesli/teas/coffees. Limitless types of bread for toast. Fridge full of bacon and eggs and bowls full of fruit

“It’s all in the price” said Paul

The best £40 I’ve spent 

A clean, comfortable and friendly place…can’t praise it enough

By the way; Paul also runs the Ship Inn just down the road. Had a wonderful meal there that night

A wonderful safe haven for an old, cold and bedraggled Coast Path  hiker

A great place to recharge batteries when walking the coast path. Paul is a good host with a friendly attitude. I particularly liked the self service breakfast, with everything you could possibly want freely available. A good meal available at the local pub too.

Reasonably priced hostel on Pembrokeshire Coast Path

Very welcome place to stay after long days walk from Goodwick. We stayed in the self contained apartment which is perfectly equipped with all that you need. Breakfast was thoughtfully provided by Paul who went out of his way to help us. He also manages the Ship Inn which provides excellent food and beer so all needs are catered for. Great value and highly recommended 

Self contained apartment in YHA Trefin

We took over the whole hostel for a big birthday bash. Ages 3 to 70 and we had a wonderful weekend because it was so relaxed and carefree. Kitchen diner was plenty big enough for the twenty odd of us to play games and lounge about doing what you do on a big family weekend.
Had a couple of visits to the village pub, great beer, good food great service and a pool table and juke box in the kids room.

Great weekend away

Stayed when we were hillwalking in the area, an excellent facility in an area where accommodation is expensive. Comfortable beds, excellent kitchen facilities, friendly & helpful host. Good pub in the village is an easy walk for great food

Good value

We got to the hostel late following a long day on the walking trail. We were tired, hungry and our feet were very sore. We let Paul know we’d be arriving late and he not only let us in when we eventually made it there, he made sure that the kitchen was stocked (all the stores/pubs in the area were already closed). The next day, he went above and beyond to help us mend a broken backpack strap, then made sure we had plenty of water to last us the whole day on the trail. We were fully recharged for another full days’ trip thanks to sleeping in a clean, comfy bed and having a good, hot shower.

We only have words of gratitude for him for making the continuation of our journey on the coastal path possible. Recommended!

Paul literally saved our arses.

Fantastically relaxed yet immaculately clean hostel.  Paul the host is great company and nothing was too much trouble.  Comfortable beds,  well stocked kitchen with simple breakfast provided. Just a short walk from the stunning Pembrokeshire coast. The courtyard is full of plants and flowers and we really appreciated the eco-friendly ethos of the place. We'll be back!

Loved it!

After 6 days of wild camping along the coastal path, this was the perfect place recharge and relax. Clean and cozy room, with relaxed sharing facilities stocked with food and board games. 
There was also a washing machine which came in really handy. 

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner Paul, who really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Really friendly service, and will definitely visit again soon.

Awesome hostel. Amazing host!

I had a great stay at the Hostel, walking along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. The staff went out of their way to make it comfortable for me, even though lockdown was just around the corner. Nice room, good facilities, and a beautiful part of the world. Thanks.
