Another great family meal at the Horseshoe. Great selection to choose from and I would certainly recommend the wood pigeon. Food and service excellent and children's choices and portions were perfect.  Our grandchildren are 3 and 5 and enjoy going to the pub for a meal. If you are in the area not to be missed but make sure you book at weekends to avoid disappointment.  

Excellent and not to be missed

Spent a week here and stayed in 'The Stables', which is a one bedroom annexe to the main pub.  Fabulous week away with beautiful local scenery whichever direction you choose to travel on days out.   Food in the pub was excellent with a variety of options to choose from and the hosts were very welcoming. All in all a very relaxing week away that left us very impressed. Keep up the good work!

Spot on

We walked in for a drink at around 8pm and were immediately told ‘there was no food’. We said we were here for a drink. The young girl behind the bar said, ‘you have to go to the other bar then’. We went to the other bar as instructed and were then told that because we had children with us, we ‘had to go back to the other bar’. We thanked her and left and as we were leaving the same girl simply laughed at us as we walked out. Overall, a really unpleasant experience, simply caused by the young girl who clearly had no customer service/interpersonal skills and did her very best to make us all feel uncomfortable.

Unpleasant experience

What a fantastic little cottage with a pub next door serving excellent food. 
We stayed here for 1 week in the midst of the most hideous weather, but the cottage was warm , welcoming, and peaceful. The food in the pub was Fantastic and great value for money and the staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The fact that we could take our small dog in with us was very appealing and the staff fussed him like he a local. 
This cottage ( Stables) has absolutely everything in it TV microwave cooker and hob and a washing machine. It even has a cordless vacuum for cleaning up.we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and as an older couple, we're glad of the tranquility and peace. If you haven't stayed in Argyle and Bute, then this is a perfect base from which to explore. Oban is a 45 minute drive on very quiet scenic roads and is worth a visit. In the opposite direction is Campbeltown again about an hours drive. The countryside is scenic wherever you go and when you've finished exploring the many castles and forts, return to the cottage and enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere of The Horseshoe Inn. BRAVO MEIN HOSTS.

Everything we needed

We went for a family meal here in early August and really enjoyed it. The food and staff were great and though the dining area was small, it was infinitely better than some of the other places we'd been to in the area - and that includes several in Oban. Keep up the good work. Hope to get back upm there soon.

Great evening

We were amazed at the transformation of this Inn. We live not far away and went there for a birthday meal.  Service was excellent,  I have to pass comment on my meal,   rib eye steak, the dearest listing on the menu. The steak was undigestable unless you chewed it forever and a day. I had one small piece and left the rest. I ate all the other parts of the meal, ie chips  onion rings,   I was initially offered 15 per cent discount on the steak meal. raised eyebrow, was then offered 50 per cent. In my limited experience, most places would not have charged for the meal. A pity as the overall experience was positive. I can only suggest that an alternative source of steak be considered as , in my opinion, it was not the cooking , ut the poor quality of the meat

An evening meal

We saw the programme on the Horseshoe inn and as we were in the vicinity. Could not get a table mid week. But we were lucky to get a table at the end of the week.  We had the teenagers with us, who are fussy eaters. The food was excellent and even though it was busy, the owners still had time to come over for a chat. I can recommend the friday night special kebab. Excellent.

Lovely meal

Comparable to Tayvallich Inn in terms of food and service - Have now found a second 5* pub in local area. Doesn’t look hugely impressive from the outside but the food is superb, service fast and it has an extensive menu. Faultless. Well worth a visit.
