Booked with this place for a visit in September  via booking.com. Payment taken immediately, then three weeks later received an email saying booking cancelled. Have now been chasing for two weeks to get refund, phone is never answered and emails not responded too. Rip off merchants 

Avoid at all cost

I checked out of this place and felt dirty.  I read the reviews afterwards as I booked this place as a "Samantha" on Air BNB.  When I went into apartment it had the Irwin Apartments information in the room and it started with no toilet paper, bad wifi, mold in the bathroom, mold in the freezer, two refrigerators stacked in the entry way, plywood in the hall and the most disgusting patio - exactly as another person who posted on TripAdvisor in June 2019.   It is a great location and could be a wonderful place if they would just be truthful and listen to the feedback.  What are they trying to hide?

Firstly can i point out we booked and paid for this in March,  it was our wedding anniversary so we made plans, the outside area chosen was for enjoying breakfast and evening in.
 We arrived disappointed as when we booked via booking.com we were advised that breakfast and dinner was included when it clearly wasnt. 
We arrived to the apartments to find boarding placed in the hallway along with two old fridges stacked up just through the front door. 
Do to my ill health i did not go outside when we arrived as i slept for a couple of hours but when i went outside i was totally disgusted.  Firstly most of the decking boards were rotten and had big holes in so had to be extremley careful if ventured outside and also to my amazement the outside had not been cleaned for a very long time as the amount of cigarette buts in makeshift ashtrays outside were intolerable. 
When we contacted the hotel we were told that all bookings were done "via a third party" but all im aware of is we booked through booking.com and then the hotel contacted us to check out our id and give us "codes" to get in the room. 
It was our wedding anniversary needless to say it is one we will certainly remember - if anyone can advise of were i go to to get some kind of refund i would greatly appreciate it. 

Health & safety risk

I thought that this place was a little gem. we had a kitchenette and a balcony. It was very clean and I would stay here again. The only downside is that their are a lot of stairs and they are quite steep.

OVERNIGHT STAY

Paid for stay in March 2019 ..1week before I had email stating my card had been declined ! Informed & showed proof of payment! ( clerical error ? ) 1day before going informed they overbooked ! I emailed asking if right as 1/2 hr before receiving email I had email from them giving me details of entry into apartment ! Again told it was mistake & that I was booked into number 14 ! ......
Imagine mine & my child’s faces when we opened the door to find that there was no mattress! Curtains,quilt & towel filthy wrapped on a chair ! 2cans ofinsect spray empty on kitchen top ( I’ve got small bites on back of right leg) dust everywhere & then someone from other apartment trying to get into room whilst we there ! ....
Trying to get hold of them to no affect & having the foresight to remember a call I received earlier in mnth from company that manages this poor excuse ! After discussion with them & subsequent bodies I had to book into another place on the understanding that money I paid for this place would be paid back & any money I paid over for new place given me ! ...I’m waiting for my money still ! 
This weekend ! Was a birthday treat for my child that has been tarnished by the memories of this disgusting place ...AVOID AVOID

Weekend of disappointment!!!

We spent 2 nights here while visiting the Portobello road ginstitute
Pleasantly surprised at how nice it was as we had read some reviews that did not do it justice. Our room was extremely well equipped with new china, cutlery, glass etc. Altogether a good experience

We stayed here for Carnival 2018 and the location was perfect. 
We weren’t expecting too much - considering what we’d paid for the weekend. It did have a kind of hostel feel about it and areas were run down. Our room was clean enough (although there was food left in our fridge). The housekeeping staff are almost certainly not being paid enough - especially considering the amount of grief they have to deal with from annoyed residents. 
We didn’t know the code to get in the front door and as there’s no reception (until the evening when a student sets up a desk on the landing) and we couldn’t get through to anyone on the phone, we had to wait until someone let us in. Once in the building, we tried for an hour to get hold of a member of staff (even the housekeeper tried her best too). Eventually (2 hours after we’d arrived) we managed to get hold of someone, who told us we needed to send photo ID images and then they’d send us the code to our room. 
If you do stay here - don’t expect too much (there’s a reason it’s the cheapest in Notting Hill) and make sure you confirm your booking, send ID and get door codes the day before you arrive!

Notting Hill Carnival weekend 2018

Booked two nights and the night before they call me abs tell me they won't be able to check me in as they changed the policy on check in 5 mins ago.. This is after I emailed them a month before asking for the key code as I would be flying in too late. Told me I have to fill out a complaint form to get my refund. Disgusting service. Would never book again

Never again, horrible customer service, DO NOT GO HERE

Ugh. Wifi didn't work, the water ran intermittently. The photos were terribly misleading. The curtains you see in the pictures are rags. "Some" steps means many steps. Kitchen is no good when water doesn't run. Just avoid this place. 

Run, don't walk to another place

The advertising for this dump is misleading in the extreme.  The room we were assigned was a tiny garret up over sixty stairs (eight flights up a narrow twisting staircase) and was graced with a foam mattress, tattered drapes, and a leaky window.  There was no wifi (in spite of the ads), and no water (I was informed that many guests had complained of this)!  But, on a positive note, there was one spoon for breakfast.  We had booked for three days but left after one night.  It was the worst stay I've had aside from barracks..
