I burnt my hand on the radiator when I was in the bathroom because it was too hot and it really hurt. When I went to the Reception to complain, the Receptionist just looked at me and didn’t have anything to say

Safety issue

Very good for what it is, cheap and cheerful. Great location for very low price. We had clean sheets, hot water and a warm room. Quiet street, good nights sleep. Ideally located very close to Holborn Station, Bloomsbury Gardens. Good shops in the high street and restaurants. Not the Ritz but not Ritz prices!

The location is perfect and close to everything. The staff was very polite and helpful, room was clean and quiet-no traffic. Would recommend this for everyone looking for a hotel that is central but also cheap.

The Lonsdale Hotel

Damp, dark mildew ridden room in basement.  Rude staff when I complained said for the price you paid this is London it's all we have.  No running hot water in room toilet 50yds away.  Place should be condemned.  Please avoid at all costs sleeping on a bench in Russell Square would be better.

Electric socket failed (only socket in room) - in fact it was dangeruous. Advertises tv in the room - no remote and couldnt plug in. Curtains were fiflthy and falling down. Shelf in tiny bathroom broken. You cant sit straight on the toilet, there is insufficient room as the sink gets in the way and Shower was very low on pressure, Beds were uncomfortable. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Noisy during night as shared bathroom outside was being used regularly. Doesnt just needs TLC needs an entire make over of the room.

I had low expectations. They werent met!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The place is absolutely filthy and needs closing down. The location is great, but everything about this hotel is awful, dirty thoughout, from the corridors, bedrooms, bathrooms. Bed sheets and towels stained, do not ever go to this hotel

Wouldn't let an animal sleep here

Pleasant swift reception check in and professionally welcoming. I requested a quiet room beforehand and was given Room 23 on the top floor, was delighted that we had a double and a single bed I paid for twin beds. Clean crisp bedding and towels comfortable beds large sash windows to open. The central heating was on constant for the stay which was welcoming with the November chill. The room fulfilled our basic needs just somewhere to crash after our amazing visit to the Moulin Rouge show at The Piccadilly. Affluent street location with restaurants and coffee shop and a 7 minute walk from Holborn Tube Station which was great for our Sunday visit to Camden Market and Locks. Would stay again a basic no frills yet comfortable stay in London.

Officious and unfriendly staff - dropped in for a pint with my son while we waited for a takeaway. Very rude staff berated me for taking a table and that no children wear allowed when there was almost no visible signage outside saying that we had to be seated or anything about their family policy. Plenty of better places around in jesmond so best avoided. Have been here many times over the years but not any more.

Pretty disappointing

I could hear a loud drunk man screaming and shouting in the room down the corridor from me and it lasted all night and went on for several nights in a row the whole time I was staying there, it was very scary and I was worried for his girlfriend as I could hear what sounded like the sound of violence and her screams, there wasn't a phone in the room to call Reception and to be honest I don't think Reception would have been any help and would probably have made the situation worse.

Scary

I used a shared shower with other rooms and there must have been something wrong with the towel rail because it was way over heated and I didn't know, I touched my wrist against it unknowingly for literally a second and it was boiling hot and I flinched and got a scalding burn, it really hurt.
