Just had another super holiday at the Stotfield hotel. The staff are so nice and welcoming and couldn’t do more for you. The restaurant is beautiful overlooking the firth and with amazing  sunsets. The food never disappoints and they always have a deal on for guests. Look forward to returning.

Recent holiday

We have just spent 5 wonderful nights at The Stotfield Hotel where our Grandson and his new wife had their wedding reception 
The rooms were clean , bed very comfortable and we had an awesome view of the Moray Firth
The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful and certainly went above and beyond to make the wedding day perfect. Special mention to Billy who made everything run smoothly , nothing was too much trouble. 
The breakfast was great, all you can eat 
Evening meals also good quality 
If you’re looking to stay up this way look no further than the Stotfield They’ll certainly look after you !

Fabulous Wedding on the Moray Firth

We only went there because it was across the road from the Norland B&B. We both wanted to have a drink so had a meal there. I would call the restaurant area quirky, not what we expected from a grand looking hotel. However the service we received was friendly and very efficient. Would love to see an expansion in their choice of meals. We went for the hot rocks but they only did sirloin steaks. What we did choose was well presented and tasty. For the food and service 5 stars, decor…. ? It’s just my opinion.

For an evening meal

Great place with amazing views. Stayed here whilst visiting our son in RAF Lossiemouth for a few days. Wonderful friendly staff, especially Sonia and Edna. Lovely people. Spent a few hours in the bar watching the golfers in the snow. Food and hospitality was second to done. Thanks.

Worth a visit 

Just returned from spending a couple of nights at the Stotfield and hope to be going back soon.

Firstly I should say absolutely do NOT go to this hotel if you want pristine modern rooms with immaculate en-suite facilities and the ability to checkout online while earning loyalty points.

DO come here if you want welcoming and helpful  staff, a characterful period building, fantastic location and a hearty breakfast included in an extremely reasonable price.

I was travelling from Cheshire with my son and was likely to arrive after the advertised 11pm final check in.  Reception were very understanding and agreed to stay late and we were met with a smile.  I lived in Lossiemouth for a few years so already knew about the Stotfields great location but waking and admiring the view over west beach on a crisp clear autumn morning still takes the breath away.

As has been said in other reviews the rooms are not up to 5 star standard but for me this is an intrinsic part of the charm of this hotel.  It is a wonderful Victorian building.  We stayed in a top floor twin room.  The ceilings must be 20ft+ high and the room was huge. The electric shower is ‘old school’ but was more than adequate and the beds were comfy. The room was clean and well presented.  I dread to think how much it costs to heat a large 100yo building in the north of Scotland but the room (and the rest of the hotel) was cosily warm at all times.  

Breakfast buffet was great, normal selection of bacon/sausage/egg etc and cereals/pastries.  Dining room staff were again smiling and helpful.  We didn’t have an evening meal but did have a couple of drinks at the bar which is well stocked.

The Beach is 1 minute walk.  The golf club is 30 seconds!  East beach and the marina is a 5 min walk.

All this for less than £65/night (per room), fantastic value!

The Stotfield is so much more of an experience than a soulless travelodge and we hope to be coming back soon.

A Gem

Stayed at the Hotel for 2 days this New Year . We have been numerous times .. We always request a room on the first floor and the hotel make sure we get one ..The staff are first class and the food is delicious ..The location is also excellent ..Will not be long before we are back ..

The Hotel may be dated  but the staff /food are top notch ..

Bed was clean 🛌and very comfy. pillows fluffy. Shower lovely and warm.Basic but clean room. Food was gorgeous. Recommend the steak pie and desserts were delicious 🍰😋 staff were very friendly🙋 and helpful and I had a great time 😀 had a lovely walk down the beach 🏖️

Great time.

I recently stayed with my family here for one night as part of a short break across the Moray Firth. It’s perfectly placed to enjoy the beautiful beaches and harbour as well as local golf. Also great if (like me) you love watching the RAF jets come and go from the nearby base.

The hotel is classic old style. You will find tired aspects such as certain fixtures and fittings and the bathroom needs a revamp. 

That said the staff are very pleasant, good food and a friendly atmosphere.

I would recommend it as a comfortable, very good value for money, stay in Lossiemouth. Parking is a bit busy out front but easy to find street parking.

Good value for money

We were really impressed by this hotel and felt that some grander hotels could learn a lot from this hotel. We were enthusiastically ŵelcomed when we arrived at the hotel. The lady on reception was very friendly, explained everything and even worked to find us a table in the already fully booked hotel restaurant. 

The room was good, with a reasonable amount of space. The bathroom felt a little squeezed into the room, but it was manageable. The room was spotlessly clean, as was the bathroom. Both were a little dated. The tea and coffee making facilities were properly stocked.

The dining room was pleasant enough,  but again a little dated. The menu is varied, and everything listed on the menu was available. The staff were very friendly, professional and consiensious. The food was good, tasty, well presented and well cooked. 

Breakfast was a little on the poor side. There was not a great choice, but it was adequate. The hot food buffet was kept well stocked with freshly cooked food and there were never excessive amounts of hot food left out, meaning that the food remained fresh and hot.

This is a budget hotel, but does it very well. A lot of five star hotels could benefit from the same attitude that the staff at this hotel had and the same standards that this hotel had for cleanliness. It is not pretentious - it does what it says and it does it well.



A very pleasant stay

Me and my partner stayed in room 220 for 2 nights, it was a lovely stay but room could be doing with an upgrade. 

Room -

You certainly aren’t getting a modern hotel room, it is outdated with a bathroom with only a shower and toilet and another bathroom with the sink and bath. Is slightly unhygienic needing to leave one room to another room to wash your hands. There were fittings hanging off the wall, paint and wallpaper peeling. The room is very spacious and has two large windows (could be doing with a clean) and one side window. The views were amazing and did make up for the outdated room.

Bed -

Bed was not comfy at all. It wasn’t even firm, it was solid. We were even considering leaving on the Saturday with how hard the bed was but due to travelling 4 hours we really didn’t want to, just sucked it up and got on with it. 

Food -

Dinner on both nights were amazing, not the biggest menu but what we did have was cooked to perfection. Steak was amazing!! There is a very large variety on the drinks menu and all very well priced! Lots of options for Cocktails!! 

Breakfast -

Included in the price but it was very stale on Saturday morning, egg was awful and the hash brown was just a big no. Bacon was hard to cut. I think it has been lying for a long time and went stale. 

Bread was also stale and was left out for people to take, but it had went hard. 

However, on Sunday when we were leaving very early the staff at hotel were so kind and helpful they cooked us bacon for us leaving before breakfast started and that tasted very nice! 

Staff -

All staff were welcoming, approachable and couldn’t do enough. Especially the lady who worked I restaurant Friday and Saturday night plus the morning breakfast. She was a total gem and an asset to the hotel!
