The rooms were all equally luxurious, comfortable and beautifully appointed. 
The whole accomodation offered the perfect setting for friends to gather and host a special event.
The kitchen facilities and dining room gave the opportunity for a local chef to cook and serve us a 'banquet' treat with ease.
A magical weekend was enjoyed by all involved.

Big birthday celebration

My wife and I stayed here for three nights.  We received a warm welcome from the owner, a spotlessly clean room, and delicious breakfasts with lots of variety. The road it's situated on is quiet, so a peaceful night's sleep too.

Minor note - Lyme Regis is hilly in places and Westwood is situated at the top of a short hill which might challenge those with mobility concerns.

Would highly recommend this guest house.

Spotlessly clean and welcoming

Pros: 
Central location.
Ok views.
Guests can use the lounge space/sofas. 
Refreshments tray and bottles of water in the room.
Lovely fluffy bathrobes
Comms before arrival was good, lots of recommendations for places to eat.
Cons:  
If you're in one of the veranda rooms (we thought the veranda was a private space from our bedroom ), other guests can freely walk past your bedroom window from the breakfast room (image). There are curtains, but you have to have these closed  to stop people looking in.
Owners dogs were allowed in the breakfast room, one of the pets deficated on the floor.
Owners dogs are allowed in the lounge area/sofas - along with their blankets.  The lounge is also the area the food is served from.
Hostess wore her ear-buds all throughout breakfast service, which meant she didn't appear very approachable.
Hosts manner was a bit "prickly" and not overly friendly.
Continental breakfast was the same every day, if you were staying for more than a few days, it would get a little tiresome.  
If like us you were/are not familiar with Lyme Regis, this property is at the top of a very steep hill, if you have mobility issues, it's not for you.
If you like to go out and about in the car, the guest house car parking could be an issue as there are only four "true" spaces in the top car park, then anyone that arrives blocks everyone else in.  A bit of a worry if you want to start your day early and you're blocked in!
Round door handles in the bedrooms was very grubby (image), we had to clean them!
Light pull cord in bathroom was grubby.
I have stayed in many properties across the globe and this would not be somewhere we would consider returning to.

Good location (if you can manage steep hills) not a luxury property, as advertised

Nice location not too far to walk into town. The breakfast was ok, have had  better in other bed and breakfasts. Parking a bit of a squeeze and there was building works going on so noisy during the day.

Good location

We stayed here last week - 4th August 2022 - for 2 nights.  It's very well placed for enjoying Lyme Regis where there are lots of really good eating places.  We had the Crystal room which is lovely.  Accommodation very clean and there was everything you could need for your stay.  Breakfast continental and excellent; variety of cereals, fruit, breads etc. All really fresh.  Lavinia very friendly and helpful.  The best bit for us was, of course, the excellent coffee! Yes the parking was a bit tight but that's to be expected in Lyme.

Fabulous place to stay

We love Lyme Regis and Westwood makes it feel like home.  Lavinia and her team are always friendly, welcoming and helpful.  Our room (Pearl) was pleasant and quiet, with a huge and very comfortable bed and a choice of hot drinks and also biscuits, which were very welcome after a long day walking in the beautiful Dorset country.
Westwood is well situated just above the top of the Main Street, in a quiet road next to a Woodland Trust wood, through which one can walk down to the river and along to the town mill.  It’s an easy walk down to the shops, Marine Parade and beaches.  The views from the rooms and the pleasant conservatory dining room are spectacular.
Although Lavinia advertises a continental breakfast, it’s actually a lot more, with a lovely buffet of cold meats, cheese, eggs, fruit salad  and, of course, croissants etc.  a wonderful start to the day.
We look forward to our next visit

A third happy stay

Lavinia is a wonderful host, we had a great stay at Westwood.
We stayed for 2 nights and wish we had booked a 3rd, Lyme Regis is so beautiful and the B&B is in a great location, a 10 minute walk from the town and the views from the house are incredible. Breakfast was buffet continental with lots of options, everything was delicious! Our room was spotless, with an absolutely massive bed that was so comfortable. It was really handy to have a fridge in our room as the weather was hot during our stay. The addition of a fan in our room was also much appreciated! 
We changed our check in time on the day and Lavinia was really great about this.

After reading a previous negative review I wanted to say that we are a young couple and Westwood does not just cater to older couples, there was a diverse range of guests during our stay. Everyone received the same level of care and kindness from Lavinia. She has two beautiful and very calm/quiet dogs, we saw them each day of our stay and I have no idea what could cause someone to describe them as smelly or fighty, they are both older dogs who enjoy lounging around, so I don’t see how that is possible.
Overall we couldn’t possibly say a bad thing about our stay, the house is beautiful, everything was fantastic and we would definitely stay again!

Exceptional Guesthouse

I must comment on the peculiar and nasty review written by ARJ about the owner of Westwood.

I have stayed at this lovely guest house several times over more than ten years and been cared for attentively and hospitably on every visit by the owner who ARJ is referring to.

I was staying on the top floor at the same time as this "difficult" family stayed below me and was in the vicinity of them on occasions.
I understand that the child in the family was not expected by the owner but she accepted them and tried to make them welcome as I overheard a conversation when they arrived.
I was personally overly aware of the child's presence in this peaceful house because the parents made no obvious attempt to stop them making unacceptable noise.
I am NOT the friend who ARJ refers to.

I heard this family complain about bad weather (a mist which crept in) one day and, on another day, complain about sun in their eyes in the breakfast room.
I should imagine that it is disruptive to move people around and also think that covid hygiene is easier to implement if guests stay on their allocated tables.  Indeed, people arrive at different times so how does ARJ know that the table they wanted wasn't to be occupied soon afterwards?  ARJ seemed to me to want very special attention!

I wasn't in the breakfast room all the time but find it extremely difficult to imagine the owner being rude to guests.  I have never witnessed anything of the sort.  The owner shows great efforts to maintain hygiene during and outside Covid restrictions - I've always felt very safe.

I have also stayed in different rooms in the house.  The beds are very comfortable, nothing is in any way at all shoddy - quite the opposite.

I will continue to visit Westwood, recommend it to my friends and relatives and to anyone reading this too!

Lovely place - welcoming owner!

Thank you Lavinia for making all fourteen of us so welcome and at home for the weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with you. The rooms were spotless and so comfortable. The continental breakfast was delicious.

Great weekend

My husband , 7 year old son, and I stayed there for 3 nights. The lady seemed ok on emails however it quickly changed. 
I went to the breakfast room in the morning, she showed me to a table and the sun was very bright so I ask if we could sit somewhere else as there was plenty of space . She responded rolling her eyes ”yesterday there wasn’t enough sun now it’s too much . Never happy!” obviously she was referring to someone else as we weren’t there the day before . 
The next morning, she placed us on another table . We opened the little jam pots and there were half empty . Something I have never seen in any place I’ve been too . Especially in COVID times , it’s highly unhygienic. My husband mentioned it to her politely and she responded “ well , there yours . You opened two pots yesterday so you have them again!”. She became more rude and said  “if you’re not happy you can leave now !” Then her friend(a guest) joined in saying that our son has been keeping her up at night . My son was asleep at 9pm so no idea how could he keep her friend awake. They are most likely “allergic “ to children. If that’s the case , she should state it on her website . Most guests were retired couples .
Also ,I love animals but she had very smelly/flighty dogs hanging next to the food. The mattress was very old and sinking ,and the bedsheet cover had holes in it so definitely not a “luxury” place as she claims it to be . 
I’ve travelled a lot in my life and stayed in B&B in UK and abroad and she was the rudest person I’ve come accros and for absolutely no reason.
The location was very good and the room was big enough . Outside of that , I wouldn’t recommend that B&B. My advise is unless you’re 65 or without children , don’t book that place
