Went in here on the off chance for lunch, was told the restaurant was full but was free to sit in the pub.
Really did feel like fish and chips and wasn't disappointed. The best fish and chips I've had in a long time and the service was just outstanding. They were busy but every single member of staff (and I do believe every single member of staff served me at some point) were attentive and super friendly. 
If I'm ever in Lyme Regis again, which of course I will be, I will one hundred percent be visiting The Cobbs Arms.

Had a lovely  meal here. Hadn't  reserved 
 but found a table in bar area. Server checked with kitchen as I have food  allergy.  Ordered fish pie, which when served was hot and delicious, veg was perfect.Other half had a burger, which he also enjoyed. Staff were helpful. Lovely  atmosphere.

I recommend  a visit

First was put off with  staff our patrons arrogance attitude. 

First dish was ok. 

Second had belly of pork. This was disgusting should not been served as was rancid  when explained why I did not eat the food, no refund was oferd  payed our bill leg to eat pudding  somewhere else

We were in Lyme Regis for the day and the rain forced us to run into the first pub we saw as we left the car park. We were seated straight away with our two small Yorkshire Terriers. The atmosphere was so welcoming we knew we were in for a treat. Both the bar staff and serves were absolutely fantastic couldn't fault how friendly and attentive they were. We ordered two of the chicken shawarmas and the home made onion rings....wow i didn't expect it to be presented as beautifully as it was (didn't take a picture as I was so excited to eat it) the onion rings had the crispiest and lightest batter I've ever had and each ring was almost as big as my head. No examination.
The only disappointment I had was having to leave and not try everything on the menu. When we're back in this area we have no reservations about returning to this wonderful pub

Best food I've ever had in a pub

We only pop in maybe once or twice a year for lunch on our way to Sidmouth but you still get treated like friends, the welcome is amazing the staff are ALL fantastic both young & old! The food is fabulous & the extra attention to detail & service was much appreciated, even helped Mum when she got stuck in her coat zip!!!! Highly recommend if you are in the area . Oh & it’s dog friendly which is great. Sorry can’t remember all your names to mention you personally but everyone on Fri 22nd lunchtime was brilliant thank you, a real credit to the place.

Absolutely fantastic, great atmosphere

We popped in for lunch. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Service was efficient and the food was delicious. 
The pub is full of quirky decor and I could have spent ages just looking around!
I really lovely place to stop for a decent meal.

Lovely pub and great food

We went for an early mid-week dinner and were very impressed. The place was recommended by family and we weren’t disappointed. 
The food was delicious, good size portions of lovely home cooked food. All the staff were really friendly and welcoming. 
We will definitely return next time we visit Lyme Regis.

Delicious food and lovely service

We’ve stayed at the Cobb several times about 7/8 years ago and had some happy times there, so thought we’d return as a bit of a treat. The price has certainly increased by almost 100% during that time, which I understand is inevitable to an extent, but for £155 I was honestly hoping for a bit more. On the positive side, the location can’t be beaten - it is so central and the Cobb and harbour are always interesting places to spend time. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. There has been some redecoration over the years and the rooms look nice. However on the less positive side, the bed was terrible, comprising a thin mattress where the springs twanged whenever you moved and which was just not conducive to a good nights sleep. (I would advise the owners of any B&B to spend a weekend in the room to experience it for themselves). There was also some kind of mechanical whirring noise all night - not sure if it was from the pub itself or a neighbouring  business - but again it didn’t make sleep easy. The hot water pressure in the room was hopeless - it took about 20 mins to run a bath - and the towels were rather small. Breakfast was pleasant enough and served with a smile but was not especially generous and could easily have been improved with a few extras. Overall our stay was acceptable but not quite what we’d hoped for and we both agreed we won’t be returning to stay again.

Not what it used to be

As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are accessed via the back entrance of the pub . You have to walk through the food storage area which leaves a lot to be desired , there is a terrible smell as you enter the back of the pub and the stairs up to the room are very tatty and dirty . The room is ok , just , we had a 3 night stay and had to ask for clean towels on day 3 . The springs can be felt in the mattress . The breakfast was inedible , first day we chose poached eggs which were hardboiled , the 2nd day scrambled eggs , which had to be returned as resembled a pile of bright yellow mush ! 3rd day we stuck to toast which was barely toasted . The staff were friendly and polite but would definitely not return here again

We had a wonderful gluten free meal in The Cobb Arms. The selection is amazing and that can adapt almost anything to suit. My husband has a home made gluten free steak & ale pie!! He even questioned it as he has never had this option whilst eating out. To say it was delicious is an understatement. It was absolutely incredible. Freshly cooked veg and gluten free gravy. A definite go to again. Highly recommended. Well done
