Staff warm and welcoming. room clean and well presented . 
We stayed bed and breakfast and enjoyed a well cooked breakfast with views of the river . 
Could not recommend this hotel more .

Fantastic place to stay highly recommended

At the Inn today for Sunday lunch and I have to say it was one of the tastiest best presented carveries we have  eaten. It was piping hot and everything cooked to perfection Efficient and very helpful staff. Well done John and your staff we will certainly be back. Oh and one more thing  very reasonably priced.

Sunday lunch.

We had an overnight stay at The Inn with several family members.  Afternoon tea and evening meals were both amazing.  Would highly recommend the afternoon tea with its variety of fresh sandwiches, scones and pastries.  The rooms are brilliant.  They are spacious, clean and really comfortable and have Tea and coffee making facilities.  Our room had a walk-in shower in a lovely bathroom.  The beds are really comfortable.  We ended our short stay with a lovely cooked breakfast.  The staff were helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay great.  We recommend the Inn and we will certainly be back.

Great Restaurant and hotel accommodation

The decor in this Inn is second to none.  Paintings of very high quality throughout the building.  Each guest room is unique, so comfortable and cozy with quality furnishings throughout.  The food standard is equally as high.  The view from the restaurant across the river is so relaxing.  I would highly recommend The Inn Castledawson to everyone.

Beautiful building in the heart of Castledawson

Had reason to be in Ireland last weekend at a family wedding, the wedding venue operator suggested we might have a pleasant stay at the Inn at Castledawson, she herself had personally vetted it as there is a shortage of quality accommodation in that area . For myself and my family it was a great choice ,the hotel is beautiful with a private courtyard ,food and service excellent but ,special mention must go to the host/owner John Atkinson, I don't know what he wouldn't do for his guests, Due to the precarious nature of the local taxis at certain times John went beyond his normal duties , took us to the wedding and came back for us after midnight . I would be happy to stay there again ,great little place .

fantastic northerh Irish hospitality

All staff couldn't of been nicer. Really went out of way to help. Highly recommended to all. Food is outstanding as always. Perfect location for anyone wishing to stay or juat to have a nice relaxing meal.

Very friendly and helpful Staff

Friends in Northern Ireland had told me of the "Old Inn" in the quaint village of Castledawson and advised me it was worth a visit. They were absolutely spot on. A beautiful hotel with amazing charm, wonderful decor, an interesting past and fabulous staff. I would highly recommend, whether as a romantic getaway location or for a wedding or even an overnight alternative to the larger city hotels in and around Belfast. 
I will be back. Every time I'm in Northern Ireland. 😊 

Short but idyllic stay

Very clean hotel,   wide variety of food in Restaurant.  Decent breakfast.  Staff warm and friendly.    Good location, especially if visiting Seamus Heaney Homeplace.     Facilities include wifi and on site parking.  Would definitely go back.....

Clean, friendly hotel

We came to Castledawson for a family  wedding and stayed at this gem of a "Inn". John and his staff (including Betty) were the perfect hosts. Clean, friendly and great company make this  "Inn" top of the list. Nothing was a problem, the craic was great and the Ulster Fry the best in the North.
A must to stay if you are in the area. 

The best "Inn" in the North

We stayed here with a group of friends in October as we were attending a wedding nearby.

Making the initial reservation by phone was a bit trying as the hotel appears to have very poor reception. However we eventually managed to get it sorted.

We were pleasantly surprised by the setting and size of the hotel. We managed to get a space in the courtyard car park. The double room we were allocated was quite large and clean. Some of the rooms overlook the river at the back of the hotel. 

However there were a couple of maintenance issues. There must have been a leak with a large area of water damage on the ceiling in the hall. The towels in the bathroom were a bit frayed.

The staff were helpful but the breakfast setup and hospitality offered by the server Danny was odd to say the least. We went down to breakfast (well before the cut off for breakfast) and were greeted with the question 'What do you want for Breakfast? A fry?'. This was before we had even sat down. We weren't given any choice but gestured to sit down. There was 3 of us and we sat at a four seated table. The dining is quite nice and large as it's usually the restaurant area. We then noticed there was a long table setup near the window with glasses of orange juice at the individual seatings. But there were other guests already seated at this long table and if we had sat there we would have had to sit in the middle of them. When the server returned I asked did he mean for us to sit at the long table. He said yes and asked was that not ok? I said we preferred our own table for privacy. We had to go a lift the orange juice glasses off the long table. We got offered no cereal, fruit, yoghurt or toast. Just a fry, tea/coffee and our rescued orange juice and that was it!!! It was a very poor show as the breakfast area is so nice with so much potential.

Also beware that this review is for the Old Inn at Castledawson NOT the Crawfordsburn Inn!!! I see from the description and photos of one of the more recent reviews posted here on tripadvisor that someone has got the 2 mixed up and the wrong hotel has been reviewed under Castledawson!!
