We have just come back from a lovely week staying at Burton Farmhouse, the accommodation was great and very comfortable, the whole experience was enhanced by the fact that this is a working farm and morning sheep chorus was lovely.
Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful week at the farm 

the hoel was booked as b&b as it is advertised. Surprised that no breakfast is supplied.When we arrived no key was left and when I found someone they were surprised to see us as though we were not expected.We asked about breakfast and the host said no breakfast,that is why they have a fridge in the room. It was not turned on and inside was a carton of milk that was obviously off.They had a small bottle of washing up liquid so as to wash any crockery in the bathroom sink.when we were taken to the room it was down a dark corridor ,the host did not tell us where the light switches were. It all seemed an inconvience.We were not shown where the the resturant/bar was ,presumably they were not open.the whole place seemed unsafe.At the entrance were boxes still there next morning.We felt that we could not stay so left the next morning and found a lovely place that had breakfast for the same price.

Lovely comfortable bed, good sized room and ensuite. 
Negatives are...quote isolated, breakfast not included, nearest shop to get supplies is a few miles away... I did go to Hope Cove, very few options to eat out, just two pubs (which are next door to each other), very narrow country roads to get to the property, the room  and ensuite I stayed in was just above the owners family room, if I could hear everything, they could hear me too
In the evening as I was settling down for the night..the person staying in the room next to me talking loudly on the phone for at least 90 minutes before his travelling companion pursued him to stop.
The thought of spending a second night there filled me with dread, so I opted to leave in the morning ...Not for me at all.



Working Farm

Forget the wifi - it is switched off at night till 7am. TV has no BBC channel
I felt that this was no way to run a business, friendly though the owner was when I caught up with her on the second night to ask for bed linen. Read the other reviews - we were uncertain we even had a room - see later -as we arrived in the dark and told the taxi to wait. You are greeted by a printed sheet of paper and key. The breakfast if you can call it that is as described and not up to decent standards as far as I am concerned - presumably lunch would have been a pot noodle! Towels were old, I used a hole filled mattress cover and stain cover as bed linen the first night. When I asked the woman the next night I got bed linen and said I had been trying  to phone (the phone mail box is full) and email - quote 'those email addresses don't work' . We were walking the coast path and would have preferred a cooked breakfast. The place used to be a restaurant too and that and the bar are like the Marie Celeste too. It was the most expensive place we stayed in, condensation running down the single glazed windows and definitely not up to modern day standards. The lack of being able to communicate either through the farm website or booking.com was disgraceful I felt.

The smallest room I have ever stayed in - more akin to a cupboard.  And what was so disappointing was that it would have cost little to upgrade me to a larger room - the rest of the house seemed empty

I would recommend it only to those seeking the strange

A Disappointing Experience

We had 3 rooms as we were attending a wedding. All the rooms were well furnished (rustic), spotlessly clean, fresh/clean bedding and towels and good facilities eg bath and shower, fridge, tv, tea & coffee. WiFi was available but the internet connection slow. No mobile reception on EE or Vodafone. Didn’t see owners but didn’t need to as check in was easy and had no issues. Breakfast was limited due to COVID. The b&b is on a working farm so there was animal noises at times but we liked that. We have family in the area so visit often, we would definitely look to book here again in the future.

Lovely rural B&B. Spotlessly clean.

Choose another!!! We stayed here last weekend and we are a family of four two adults and two children.  We opted for the B&B rather than the part pictured on the website (be careful when booking) to ensure we didn't need to venture out, having not visited this part of Devon before.  On arrival there was no one to greet us, just a letter and our room keys.  The Wifi instructions for free wifi were clear, however they forgot to say there is absolutely no signal!! You need to drive to the main road, had we known this we would have brought along games etc. for the children and made necessary phone calls to friends we were visiting beforehand.  The room was full of old furniture and had a musty smell and was too hot.  The TV was tiny! The breakfast was four cardboard pots of porridge (no milk).  We had to purchase our own breakfast and milk, which meant leaving the humming fridge on all night.  The tea and coffee provided was all sachets and the long life milk in the plastic cups, on opening some of the coffee it had clearly gone off a very long time ago and was grey. We drove to the main road to telephone the owner as she was nowhere to be found.  When I explained all the disappointments she could not have cared less and stated that she had sent me a lengthy email detailing the no food etc, this was never sent to me or I would of come prepared!  I asked for a reduction on the £ 149.00 per night and she refused, I would highly suggest another option if you would like any kind of a happy stay.

No breakfast bed and breakfast ! Avoid

We were visiting some friends so booked for two nights. Thank goodness we arrived when it was light. There was no one to greet us and we stumbled our way through finding the front door, our keys and room.
The room was so full of old dark furniture. It had a very gloomy feel to it. The cold tap hardly worked but annoyingly dripped all night. Some dogs howled and barked also. The fridge had such an annoying hum we switched it off.
The mattress was very old. We rolled into the middle and it was very uncomfortable.  
As for a country farmhouse breakfast .... forget it.
Packet biscuits, dried porridge oatss( yuk) pre packed homogenized milk, cheap coffee sachets and sweet sickly chocolate biscuits.
There is no WiFi so don't come here if you need it.
We had no room service and nobody asked if we were ok.
When we left we had to search for someone to pay. Eventually we found the farmer who told us he was very busy but somebody else would come and serve us. I told him we had had no service all weekend and that comment was ignored.
We consider £110 per night very expensive especially as we had to buy breakfast.
The impression we got was that they couldn't care less if we has been satisfied.
Seriously don't go there . We saw lots of other places we will try next time.

So expensive and disappointing

What an amazing place ! A huge old farmhouse with various converted barn apartments also. Owners were extremely friendly but unfortunately due to Covid, didn't get to sample the breakfast etc which was a shame as I'm sure it would have been beautiful. Very clean accommodation and the ability to look around the farm is a bonus. Lovely coastal walks around the area with beautiful scenery. Definitely recommend a visit.

Work Stay

The room was too hot, we had to buy milk on arrival despite claims the fridge would have breakfast supplies. On arrival at about 4pm,  there was nobody to greet us. Our roof leaked and the walls were paper thin. It was nobody's fault that a cooked breakfast couldn't be served due to covid, but it may well have been a redeeming feature in more normal times! The location was  however, lovely.
