I arranged to meet my Father here for lunch on what must be one of the busiest days of the year in Marlborough, and it took me nearly an hour to find a parking space.  My Father (87) doesn't have a mobile phone so I called the pub to ask them to find him and tell him my predicament. When I eventually turned up they guessed who I was and showed me straight to our table (they'd held the booking), and couldn't have been nicer.  The food was tasty, and the pub itself is warm, comfortable and cosy. The pub is dog friendly and the bar staff found my dog some treats. The staff were really great, they made the occasion.  Thank you.

Lovely room but rather odd to have 1 bathrobe and 1 coffee capsule between 2 of us! (Double room clearly booked for 2). I won the fight. 

Finding staff at breakfast took some effort, but the food was fine when it arrived 

Not the slickest for the price

Nice place to visit , didn't feel very welcoming.  Staff were very nice but I wouldn't recommend eating here .
It sounded great on paper , on plate was a totally different experience. 
Would visit if passing , for a drink , but not to eat . Sorry

1st time meal

Stayed one night at the Marlborough with friends. We had the Marlborough room which was spacious and very comfortable. Great en-suite bathroom and four poster bed added to the feel good factor. All the staff were friendly, courteous and efficient. We ate in the restaurant and we were all impressed with our meals in terms of quality and cost. Our room was above the bar and as a result you get a bit of noise but nothing that was off putting. If you’re looking for a comfortable, good value establishment in Marlborough we’d recommend the Marlborough

Very enjoyable stay at The Marlborough

We stayed here for one night in November.  We enjoyed a drink in the bar with local deaf Rugby star Luke T. and chatted for ages about rugby!  The staff were absolutely brilliant, even lent us a phone charger.  Breakfast was excellent.  The Library Room is beautiful - wonderful shower.  Only bugbear is the parking but it's an old building and there isn't much room.  We loved our stay here - just a pity the restaurant was not open because we would certainly have stayed for dinner.

Excellent hotel, lovely people

We stayed in The Library Suite…..not a suite, but there was a seating area just outside our room! Room is at the front of the establishment but not too noisy to sleep. Large, comfy bed. Good coffee machine, beverages and snacks. A good bathroom with an excellent, power shower. Old building, so wobbly floors add to the ambiance. We had an excellent evening meal…..man went for fillet steak that was superb. We ate outside, great atmosphere and service. Breakfast is served over a good amount of time and again was excellent…..Would return and recommend!

Really enjoyable!

I stayed at The Marlborough for the first time and was really impressed with the service. The hotel team were friendly and genuinely willing to help to ensure an enjoyable stay. The hotel provided the security of controls to meet COVID restrictions. A comfortable room which was well equipped and clean. Excellent food for both evening meal and breakfast along with a good selection of drinks. Public car parking was available on the road directly outside the hotel. 

Great character hotel highly recommended 

We've just come back from a 3 night stay at the Marlborough and feel compelled to write a positive review. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant, the room was very comfortable (the Marlborough suite) and the food from the restaurant was outstanding. It is a very old building and as such there is noise transmitted from the bar downstairs and there is road noise from relatively early but that didn't spoil our enjoyment at all. An excellent trip and we will return!

Great place with excellent staff!

Table booked for 1.15pm, it took 20 minutes for the drinks to come and the meal did not arrive until 2.05pm. We asked to see the desert menu but left at 2.55pm having given up on anyone taking our order.
When we complained at 1.50pm we were told that the delay was due to another table ordering four steaks! No one seemed to want to take responsibility for the delay and no evidence of any management.
The fish I had was dry; I suspect that it had been sat on a hotplate for some time. The other four dishes for the rest of our party were fine.
We booked a table because the takeaway we had a few weeks ago been so good, but the quality of the food in-house today was actually worse.


Service & food

Visited for the time, Excellent Sunday Lunch, but service was a little slow, they were very busy and the staff were under pressure. This seems to be a common theme with many resturants, Sundays seem to fall short on service compared with weekdays.
But neverless we did enjoy the meal.
