We stayed at Kernow Trek Lodge in the Sandcastle apartment, the apartment is very nice with its seaside theme and well kitted out with everything you need, a real home from home,  Kernow Trek Lodge is in a perfect location a lovely quiet Chocolate Box Village, but near to the beaches and easy to get to lots of other fantastic places.  Clare the owner is very nice and will give you any advice on where to go for a day out.  We had a fantastic 2 weeks here and would highly recommend a stay there, we would love to visit again

Great place to stay

We recently stayed at the Sandcastle Apartment at Kernow Trek Lodge. We had a lovely time and Clare the owner was very attentive in responding to any questions and we would definitely return. Here’s our list of what we loved and what we think could be improved :

Pros: 
Fabulous hallway when you arrive - so bright clean and welcoming.
Clean & airy apartment.
Most comfortable beds we have ever slept on!
Excellent utensils and equipment in the kitchen- we even did some baking !
Milk , tea and coffee on arrival is a lovely touch.
Close to watergate bay - perfect for beach lovers.
Wetsuit drying area is great for keen body boarders and surfers.
Free WiFi was great.
Amazing range of really well looked after games - the kids loved these - Thankyou so much !

Cons:
Shower was so slow to drain - we had to leave at least 10 minute gaps between each person showering so the shower tray could drain. With 5 people that could be a pain in the mornings- again we informed Clare and she was apologetic, we didn’t insist it was immediately fixed as it didn’t hinder us too much just more frustrating. I’m certain Clare will have this sorted for future guests.

The communal area really does have so much potential it is lovely ! Sadly it isn’t very well kept. There are  leaves and cobwebs everywhere and the BBQ is not really very inviting at all. I can really see the potential but wasn’t somewhere I wanted to spend any time as it just didn’t look well maintained. 

The chairs in the lounge of the Sandcastle aren’t comfy. The sofa however , really is very comfy but if you want to relax of an evening it’s hard . There are 5 of us and we couldn’t all get on the sofa yet the chairs weren’t the comfiest to sit and watch a film on.
The smart TV wouldn’t connect to Netflix - no matter how many times we tried , again no big deal , but as there was no DVD player it would of been good to be able to watch films in the evening if we wanted to. When we return we will just bring a cheap DVD player and some DVDs- problem solved !Due to the great choice of games provided for all to used we played  games instead:)

We spent most of our days out and about and would always be home by 6pm as we have a 4 year old (as well as a 14 and 11 year old). The little things like the communal area not being maintained  , comfy chairs and not being able to get the TV to work properly were just small tweaks that could have perfected our holiday and made our evenings with the older children more enjoyable and relaxing after busy and tiring days on the beach :) 

Overall we would definitely recommend Kernow Trek Lodge.

Thankyou Clare for the use of your lovely holiday home and we have no doubt that your apartments will only get better each time we visit - you can tell it’s a well loved business and that you really want people to have a lovely time  :)

Overall a lovely place

We spent three nights here with friends from the USA. We had “The Beach Hut”, which was a two bedroom two bathroom apartment. It was immaculate and suited our needs very well. Will certainly stay there again.

Lovely Place to Stay 

We cannot find a single fault with this property. We stayed in Beach Hut, which is the 1 bed apartment with private garden. The apartment is spacious, clean & is kitted out with everything you need, and more. We stayed for the long Easter weekend and the weather was truly amazing. Ideally situated between Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth beaches, meant we were able to walk to both, along the beautiful costal path. My husband managed a couple of early morning runs along the safe and beautiful cliff pathway. Clare welcomes 1 dog to this apartment and he was able to mooch around the garden and shelter from the sun, under the bushes. A lovely decking area from the bi-fold patio doors, makes a perfect setting for a evening glass of wine, or a morning coffee. It’s also perfectly safe for our little ones to play. It was great that all the facilities we needed to wash the sand off after a day on the beach - washing machine, washing line & somewhere to hang the wetsuits are available in the shared garden area. There’s a covered veranda with swing chair, sofas and cushions, decked with sparkly lights and an amazing canopy of vines provided us adults with a relaxing late night chill out.

There’s a lovely local pub and beer garden less than 2 mins walk from Kernow Trek Lodge, or Padstow or Newquay is only a short drive away. 
And Newquay airport is a 3 min drive away should you wish to fly in. 

Thank you Clare, you have a true gem here and we cannot wait to return. 
 

Perfect seaside retreat!

We stayed at Kernow trek lodge for 3 nights in December, a family of 4 in the 2 bed apartment. The accommodation was beautifully presented with everything you could wish for in self catering accommodation (dishwasher, microwave, and every kind of kitchen accessories). Clare made us and our children very welcome and offered advice about places to visit, local restaurants etc. Kernow Trek Lodge is perfectly located between the beaches at Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth, and close to all the amenities in Newquay, Wadebridge and Padstow. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again when we next visit Cornwall.

Lovely break for a family for 4

Really great apartment, made to feel welcome. We stayed for four nights it was brilliant, located in a quiet village away from the hustle and bustle of Newquay but near enough to everything. Booking, checking in and checking out could not of been easier, Clare the owner couldn’t of done more. The apartment had everything you would require for short stay and more. We will definitely stay again. 

Could not ask for more

I have just returned from staying with 2 friends in the large apartment for 2 nights.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and had all the equipment needed, like Home from home. Beautiful view of the sea from the windows to wake up too. 
Great location for fabulous walks along the cliffs and beaches. 
Good local pub with nice reasonably priced food to walk to 5mins away.
The owner is lovely and has added all the nice finishing touches to the apartment.
