Fauhope Country House is a beautiful property in a great location.  Sheila and Ian were the most kind and genial hosts and made us feel very welcome.  We had a lovely room with a huge and very comfortable bed and an excellent view across the garden and beyond.  Breakfast was excellent with a range of different options.  Eggs Benedict particularly delicious. Good local restaurants close at hand and lots of places to visit.  We enjoyed Abbotsford and looking around Melrose. We can definitely recommend a stay here.

Country house quality and lovely hosts

Really wonderful stay, beautiful setting and we felt extremely welcome there (as did our little dog!), run by a lovely and very helpful couple. 

Would thoroughly recommend to anyone thinking of staying.

Wonderful stay and very welcoming atmosphere

A delightful country house, set in magnificent, well-kempt grounds, close to Melrose, with some excellent restaurants nearby. On arrival we were warmly greeted and treated to some home-made scones, cake and tea. The whole house is beautifully presented, with some spectacular floral displays and wall hangings. Our bedroom was first class in every respect, comfortable, spotlessly clean, excellently equipped, and  with superb rural views. We had not managed to book an evening meal locally online (all showing fully booked), however, Ian managed to get us a reservation at an excellent venue. Breakfast was a feast. Everything was delicious, with choices that would meet every need. At all times Sheila and Ian made us feel most welcome and we thank them most sincerely for making our short time with them an undoubted  highlight of our Scottish holiday.

Truly exceptional

Situated a few minutes drive from the vibrant town of Melrose on the hillside overlooking the river Tweed this is a country gem.  Sheila and Ian are perfect hosts, nothing is a trouble, their beautiful house a masterful blend of the antique, and stylish luxury. Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable, immaculately clean and  every need catered for.  Breakfast menu extensive and food of exceptional quality served by friendly helpful staff.

We recently stayed at Fauhope Country  House and, from the moment we arrived, Ian and Sheila made our experience unforgettable.  From the welcoming afternoon tea, with homemade cakes and scones, to the splendid bedroom, to the excellent breakfast, all the staff at Fauhope went the extra mile and did everything they could, and more, to make our stay special.  The house itself is a beautiful country house set in magnificent gardens which we were free to enjoy.  We will certainly be back and can’t recommend Fauhope enough

A very special place!

We had a wonderful stay at Fauhope, a beautiful home set in a lovely garden, very quiet and peaceful. Ian and Sheila very welcoming: delicious tea & cakes on arrival. Sheila is the loveliest lady who makes you feel at home and looks after you in every possible way. Breakfast is a delight: porridge with home made rhubarb & ginger compote, a dream !

Can’t wait to return

This is a really lovely place to stay. It's extremely comfortable and it was joy to stay there.  We were there  3 nights and although it was very cold outside it was warm and cosy indoors.  The very special thing about Fauhope Manor is the hospitality from Sheila and Ian, not to mention their delightful dogs, Ziggy and Rhu.  They are great company and very welcoming and hospitable, going out of their way to ensure you have a great time.  The breakfasts were amazing, we had a different cooked breakfast every day and each one was delicious.  The porridge  and fruits too were outstanding.  We would definitely recommend Fauhope House and we look forward to returning.

Wonderful weekend

From the moment you entered the accommodation to the minute you left you knew that you were somewhere special.  The hosts, Shelia and Ian, together with their staff could not have made the experience more wonderful - breakfasts with porridge to die for, little touches with flowers and sprigs of herbs placed on the table, wonderful fresh luxurious soft bed linen, spacious bedroom overlooking superb countryside.  Anyone staying here will not be disappointed.   Sheila and Ian care about their guests and it shows in everything they do.
