Staff went into my room and removed my property. Currently speaking with the police as items have gone missing. the management and staff are the worse I have ever come across.  ignore all messages or reply weeks later not acknowledging anything that you’re asking. And this is not even mentioning the absolute state of the rooms. Thick dust everywhere, lights broken, filthy mattresses, broken bed frames, hot water in the shower not working ….

STAFF ARE THIEVES ! KEEP AWAY!

You get what you pay for. We paid less than £50 at very short notice to stay here. It was clean and quiet and perfectly well equipped. 
Lovely and warm room, the bed was very comfy and the shower was absolutely perfect. 
We received regular communication and very clear and precise instructions on how to get into the building and then the room.
Everything was exactly as described and this was a completely hassle free way to start a weekend.
I understand that others will find it difficult that there is no personal welcome, but having read the reviews we were well aware of what to expect and had no issue at all with it.
This business deserves to do well, they're providing an affordable service with the minimum of fuss and we will definitely come back in the future.

This hotel looked lovely and quaint on the out side. But was very grubby and dusty in rooms with beetles like insects walking across grubby floors. Toilet didn’t flush  no reception after three o’clock. Tried calling emergency number 26 times with no response  absolutely awful experience  never return

Awful dirty experience

Booked 2 rooms at this hotels with booking.com.  Payment was on arrival.
Received message the day before saying the pub was closed and the no food was being served.  Basically everything was closed.
They then tried to take payment for the rooms so messaged then and tried to call them.  No reply.
Then received a message from booking.com to say our rooms had been cancelled no reason nothing.
Had to find another hotel and pay a lot more money.


Terrible

I booked a room in the Golden Lion Hotel in Middlewich. No such place exists ! There is a building in the same location named “The Middlewich Taphouse”. It would have been good to know.
There appear to be no staff whatsoever at the property. I arrived at around 15.45, wondering what to do, I eventually received a text with my room number and the code for the main door at around 16.20.
The room was dingy, with little light and only a very hard chair to sit on. But what really troubled me was that the room door had a lock that could very easily be unlocked from the outside with just a coin, anyone could get in through the night.

Be very careful if you prefer to lock your room door at night

Apparently the Golden Lion Pub had been closed for almost a year before I made my booking but they only advised me a couple of weeks before my arrival date.Most importantly they deliberately omitted to make it clear  to me that this meant that Guests would only be able to access the rooms via a metal fire escape around the side of the building.It is only when we received the check in information late in the afternoon on the arrival date that we realised the mistake we had made in trusting this Business.Although  our booking was for 2 nights,we reluctantly stayed the first night,as it was too late to find another accomodation for that night but refused to stay the next night.If you find yourself in the same predicament be warned that you are unlikely to get any satisfaction in the way of Customer Service because most of the time there is no one answering the phone.Looking at some of the reviews it would appear that some People may have not have the same dreadful experience but if you check the date that they stayed most of these reviews were from the period that the Pub was fully operational and access to the rooms was via the Pub entrance.Obviously my advice to all prospective Vacationers is to avoid this place like the plague.I did request a refund for the unused second nights accomodation but as you might imagine if you make a booking via any of the booking sites,if the business has no Reception or Customer Care facilities and doesn't answer the phone then you just have to accept that you made a terrible mistake and hope that the booking sites remove these false descriptions from their sites asap to avoid any further disappointments.

Fake Description

1.  The booking app cancelled the room- managed to rebook with the hotel - booking in was a nightmare involving codes and needing online. Then in the middle of the night the ceiling started leaking serious amounts of water all the electrics went ‘phut’ could I contact anyone - oh no - nobody answering the phone but decided too dangerous to stay in the room - so slept in the car. All subsequent attempts to get contact and a refund totally impossible. 
Do.not.go.to.this.hotel.seriously.bad.idea
Tried to contact them by email by phone by telepathy all failed. 
I’d give a score of -10 if I could - but worst I could do was 1 star.

Avoid this hotel - 😒 seriously terrible

I booked a few nights at this Hotel via Booking.com and the day before I received a message to say the hotel was under refurbishment and that due to this they would be happy to cancel my stay for free.
This was an inconvienience and I then had to stay elsewhere.
I have had to make various phone calls and emails to try and get a refund without sucess. 
I would suggest you avid this hotel as they are a rip off.

Awful Hotel

Would not recommend, absolutely zero customer service and all round stressful. You
Would think when we have booked 3 rooms they would be aware of our arrival. 

 After ringing all day, finally at 6pm and after 19+ calls, 2 of which they answered then hung up again they finally provided us the code to get into the building. 
Once in the building the rooms were ok, very very basic but I guess to be expected for the price you pay. 

Won’t be staying here in the future & certainly wouldn’t recommend.

Hell

This is/was a pub with rooms, not an hotel.  Currently under refurbishment there are no on site amenities.  No reception, no bar, no restaurant, no on site staff.  Access is provided by an email or text giving the door code, and room number.  A pity we, a family of five, did not get the code before check in time of 3 pm, and had to chase the owner (who is working remotely) by phone and text.  After 30 minutes the code arrived, and room numbers given.  Then another text with a change of room numbers.  It was frustrating.  The rooms, on the top floor, were small but clean with en suite shower rooms.  It was quiet at night. The rooms are basic, but the price reflects this.  The walls are thin, so be aware!  One towel per person, a large hand towel really.  No toiletries provided.  Plug sockets not necessarily where needed.  We had a dim central light, no side lights by the bed, and only one bedside cabinet for a double room.  The mattress was quite soft but we slept OK.  The shower was powerful, but the sink tap was broken.
