All the staff we came across were all very friendly making for a relaxing stay apart from the first night.  Arriving Saturday the hotel and pub was extremely busy and the staff were running ragged trying to keep up but seemed more intent on serving the pub customers first making for an inordinate delay to residents receiving drinks and dinner.    The restaurant manager was getting stressed out but did apologise and we left on good terms.  The restaurant menu is good all round and suits all budgets.  

A Good Hotel to Stop Over

Very welcoming reception and staff in general. Restaurant food was excellent, good choice, quality and plenty of it. 
We had a twin room and the beds were very small. Maybe there were larger rooms that would be more suitable for twin occupancy?

Great food

Lovely warm welcome. We had booked the super deluxe dog friendly room. Didn't dissapoint, huge superking bed, very clean and well presented. Little doggie welcome pack with bowls, biscuits and poo bag's. Large TV. Ground floor for easy access outside with the dog. We spent over 2 hours in the bar having drinks and chatting to people and our dog got more attention than us! Little pricey drinks wise but to be expected in a big hotel. Only crisisism, the carpets around the place are all a bit grim. I know they must get a lot of traffic but they really need replacing with something more suitable and easier to clean. On that note though, I would definitely return and probably next time have a meal as well. 

Lovely place to stay.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful week's holiday at Crooklands during the very hot spell. Although there is no air conditioning the hotel never felt too hot inside. The staff were very efficient but friendly and helpful and the food was terrific. My wife has allergy problems but they were very accommodating. The portions were very generous,  so much so that towards the end of the week we were resorting to the small portion part of the menu! The bedroom was good with a well equipped en-suite and the large bed very supportive.  In the warmth we did not require the duvet which seemed to be of winter weight!
Overall a fantastic week which we hope to repeat next year. 

A wonderful week in the Lake District. 

A welcome and perfect stopover on the way home to Scotland from Pembrokeshire. We stayed in a double deluxe - great space, very comfortable and proper superkingsize bed. 
Evening meal in the Inn - generous portions and espite being incredibly busy with a large group - the serving staff were calm and good humoured. 
Liked the digital check in and out and the BathHouse toileteries - have ordered some for home. 

Perfect stopover!

This is a very good hotel which has recently had a major refurb and is run very attentively by two brothers. It is not a particularly cheap hotel, but neither is it, while being an old building, some pricey and pretentious manor house.
The bar is lively and you can chat to locals, and the restaurant manages to hit that narrow spot between just serving the old favoutites on the one hand, and being expensive and snooty on the other hand. The breakfast was superb--including large and extra flakey croissants.
We stayed in a twin room which was clean and large and had all that was required.
The hotel is well situated--1 mile from the M6; 5 miles from Kendal; and very near both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
All in all a very good mid range hotel in all the best senses of that word. I highly recommend it.

A very good hotel with a good restaurant. Avoids well both a basic feel and a pretentiously expensive feel

We have just returned from a stay at Crooklands.  We stayed 2 nights and the hotel, staff and food were great. So much so, we have booked for 2days in April and 2 days in May. Couldn't fault it.  We struggled with the bathroom, only because we both have arthritis and the shower was over the bath. As we only stayed 2 nights we managed, but next time we stay we have asked for a walk in shower so not a problem.

Great couple of days

I’ve stayed at Crooklands a few times now really enjoyed it. The food is excellent and the bedrooms are great too. Everyone is very friendly. I have any one issue which is the timing of the evening meal – last orders in the kitchen are 8.15pm. This renders it virtually impossible for anyone arriving on business, having come from a previous location to eat on arrival. I know there is room service, but this is a consistent bugbear of mine. Apart from that I think it’s great

Really excellent, but timings..

This was the second occasion we had visited Crookands for a 2 night stay. Both visits were very enjoyable in such a friendly, comfortable and quiet hotel. The rooms and food were excellent, and the hotel is a great venue for visiting many local attractions including the Lakes and Morecambe Bay.

Very comfortable and friendly

Visited this evening to celebrate our daughter's promotion. Excellent food and service. Wide choice of food. Roast dinner was outstanding. Specials board had some different choices, which again were excellent.  Lovely friendly staff. Will definite return as only live few miles away. 

Great celebration meal

 Excellent location, just off the M6, near Kirby Lonsdale,Kendel,Lake District.
Excellent stay as always. Helpful,friendly,efficent staff who can't do enough for you. Extremely dog friendly,nice touch in room, dog bowl with some dog biscuits. Room on ground floor giving easy access to outside when needing to take dog out.Excellent food with fantastic varied menu lovely dinning room. Menu in bar area excellent and great place to eat and dog friendly. Great breakfast from full english to continental, all locally sourced food. Brilliant mid-way stop off when we travel between Yorkshire and Cumbria.

Mini break

Popped in for a meal with the family to celebrate our sons birthday. Can’t fault anything. The welcome on arrival was friendly, the service prompt, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and plentiful. We all had full belly’s. Menu varied and traditional. Bar staff, Mark and Lucy were excellent .

Family birthday meal

Recently stayed here, check in quick with a smile, room large,  warm, plenty tea coffee with enough milk for more than two mugs.
Breakfast was very good, fruits , yogurts cereals , cooked breakfast to order,  toast , jams Nutella etc.
Restaurant meal excellent , bar service good with knowledgeable person chatting about local brewery supplier. 
Location walkable to Westmoreland showground via pretty canal towpath. 
Really pleased to say  I stayed there and would recommend.

Cracking Farmhouse/Hotel 

Stayed here the last 2 nights and the staff were above and beyond anywhere I’ve been before. The lovely lady who looked after my dog in the bar whilst I grabbed some breakfast from the restaurant, the friendly bar man who tempted me to have a large glass of much needed wine after a long day (fabulous wines too!) , the cleaner who said ‘good morning’, the message I received to say I had left belongings after checking out, and then the kind lady who suggested a coffee before my long journey home. The place has a lovely warm, relaxing feel and I would not hesitate staying again. Even the goody bag in the room for my dog was a lovely thought. I highly recommend the Sweet & Sour Chicken too! thankyou

Staff so more & welcoming!

Had a fantastic 3 night stay at Crooklands Hotel. Everything was perfect from the room to the New Years Evening Meal.  Staff were brilliant ,very helpful and giving us wonderful service. Food was excellent. We had 3 excellent  evening meals there.

Wonderful place to stay

My stay at Crooklands was fantastic. Staff accommodating and friendly. From the gentleman  who checked me in to the young lady at check out   and the friendly bar staff who loves Torchwood. Bed was comfy, hot shower exactly the thing to get me going this morning. 

Lovely stopover 

Loads of free parking. Warm friendly welcome at reception. Very stylish comfortable public areas with alcoves of seating, very pleasant airy restaurant leading to cosy traditional pub. Food was excellent, service friendly. Room was nicely presented, en suite a little tired but all very clean and comfortable and warm. I didn't choose a more expensive room and mine needed  sockets at the bedside, but there was one near the desk. Would definitely recommend staying.


Friendly good place to stay

We had our Family reunion here November 26th, Could not have chosen a better place ,, The whole night went without a hitch, the rooms, the staff, the food was of a very high standard . thoroughly recommended ..

JUST A BIT SPECIAL

We stayed overnight and felt warmly welcomed on arrival. The room was lovely -  clean, modern and comfortable. Food was excellent and staff incredibly helpful.  Would stay again without question. A lovely hotel.

Warm and welcoming

We spent four nights at the hotel and had a very enjoyable stay. The rooms are modern and well-appointed; breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice - we always had a continental breakfast with fruit etc. We had two evening meals - both very good. The Sunday smaller-size roast was excellent and very good value. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly with nothing too much trouble. We had a small dog who seemed to enjoy it too! Being close to the M6 it is a good base for exploring the area between the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and Lancaster; Arnside nearby is a gem and we had a good day at Sizergh Castle. Although the M6 is nearby, you don't hear the road from Crooklands. We will certainly come again.
