Following my previous stay at Woodlands Hall caravan park I wrote a very critical review on Trip advisor with 21 criticisms. The criticisms broadly fell into 2 categories - facilities for guests which have been taken away and criticisms of problems with the attitude of site management. 
We stayed at Woodlands Hall for the schools half term in the last week of October 2024. This report gives an updated view with some improvements.
With regard to facilities which have been taken away - sadly there have been no improvements. 
The following facilities were taken away during the first half of 2024 and have not been replaced - the gym, the sauna, the children's soft play room, the snooker room and the table tennis room. 
Also, we booked our October 2024 holiday in October 2023 when notices advertised that a heated indoor swimming pool would be open for the summer of 2024. With it going dark by 5pm at the end of October we thought that the heated indoor pool would be great for my grandchildren. Sadly the indoor pool is nowhere near ready. The foundations were laid in May 2024 but 6 months later very little else has been done. 
The only on-site things for children are the outdoor play area and the adjoining tennis court. Even these are not usable when it is raining or in the dark. I finished up buying a DVD player and we watched DVDs in the caravan every evening. The loss of facilities is a serious problem.
With regard to management attitude problems - I had paid extra for caravan 41 with a hot tub. However when I checked in I was told that caravan 41's hot tub had been broke for 3 weeks. Instead we were given caravan 91. Caravan 91, like 41 was the same as 41 and 91 had a fine hot tub. 
On each of the first 3 days the site manager came to me and shook my hand and asked if there were any problems. I thought that that was very good customer services.
Also on Halloween the management arranged an excellent Halloween party and buffet. 
On this holiday site management's attitudes were fine. There is still a big problem about lost facilities.

We held a party for 50 friends and family at Woodlands on 21 September, the venue was perfect. The hotel has several lovely function rooms, and we had exclusive use of a large private bar area, perfect to mingle and chat, before going into the bright attractive dining room. The hotel had laid on a fantastic buffet, well presented, and delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful. 

Highly recommend this venue, which is versatile, beautiful, large outdoor terrace and plenty of parking.

Diamond Wedding Celebration

Shabby decor, although reasonably clean. I arrived having booked a  twin en suite room and was given a double with the bathroom across the corridor. There was a twin available for one night only, so I had to find alternative accomodation. No apology, and I was made to feel at fault. Service really poor. Overall really disappointing.

Soft play is good for a rainy day but the food was disappointing. Ordered off a menu that was at the counter only to realise when our food came that it was a different menu to the others, husband ordered the tuna and red onion sandwich but then got a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich which he wouldn’t of ordered as he doesn’t like sweetcorn.went back and the menu I ordered off had conveniently disappeared. I ordered the ham and mustard but ended up with ham and tomato. Stated came with crisps but ended up with just half a plate of salad which wasn’t very appetising. Mentioned this and was brought out around half a bag of crisps between the two of us. Children’s meals came out looking not very appetising. Overall for the cost I could have made myself a better sandwich back at my caravan.

Soft Play Good, Food Not So Much

Came for a Christmas Meal last night, it turned out to be a gastronomic delight, if a a Christmas dinner could be stated as ‘Fine Dining, this scored on every factor-
Value, Quantity, and Quality.
The vegetables had been served imaginary, no scrimping on quantity of Meats.
Between our party, we must have sampled, all that was available.No complaints.
Being an ex pub tennant, I feel I am qualified to assess an experience such as this.
This was by far the best dining experience I have had. For a Christmas Meal.
Factor in reasonable bar prices, everything was complete.

First Class Dining Experience 

I’d followed this place for a while on social media and, based on the generally positive feedback, decided to give it a try for Sunday lunch. I’m sorry to say the whole experience was a great disappointment. The eating area is a cross between a restaurant and cafeteria, accentuated by a sign instructing orders to be placed at the counter. We were sat at our table for a while before we noticed this sign, but no one had explained the procedure to us and I wonder how long we would have been sitting there unattended if we hadn’t been lucky enough to spot the sign. The restaurant is very family-orientated, which is fine if you want somewhere where your kids can run around and play while people are trying to eat, but not great if you’re a couple looking for a peaceful Sunday lunch. Turning to the food, I ordered the signature pan roasted rump of lamb, which I requested to be cooked pink, a request which flummoxed the young and apparently inexperienced assistant working behind the counter. A colleague then interrupted and confirmed that, yes, the lamb would be pink. However, the same person subsequently advised that they could not guarantee pink lamb as “the oven has been on all day”, to which I replied along the lines of: ask the chef not to leave it in too long then! In fact the lamb was served pink (so why all the fuss?) and was actually one of the few acceptable elements of both of our meals. The lamb was served on a mound of over-cooked potatoes, olives and sun-dried tomatoes, which were all drowning in a greasy, over-seasoned watery fluid. I’d also asked for a side of seasonal vegetables, which it transpired comprised a piece of sweetcorn, red cabbage, carrots and - bizarrely - tinned mushy peas! All of the veg were grossly over-cooked and for the life of me I can’t understand on what basis tinned mushy peas can be classed as ‘seasonal vegetables’! My wife ordered the roast pork Sunday lunch. We were not given a menu for this option, just verbally informed that the Sunday lunch was a choice of beef, pork or chicken, so we’d no idea what it was served with. It turned out that stuffing and apple source - key ingredients of a roast pork lunch - we’re not included. It came with roast potatoes that were so over-cooked and soggy that they virtually disintegrated and the whole meal was not especially warm. We tried in vain to attract the attention of a staff member to address these concerns, but there were very few of them about and, what few there were seemed intent on not looking around the room to see if anyone wanted assistance, so we accepted defeat and munched on - we were hungry! At no point in the whole visit did anyone bother to ask if we’d enjoyed our food and if everything was alright, even when I went to the counter to pay. I ascertained that it was the owner who took my payment, so I voiced my concerns to him and advised that we wouldn’t be making a return visit. While he seemed mildly apologetic, he didn’t seem unduly concerned about the issues I raised and happily took my payment in full. I am at a loss to see how this place has received so many seemingly good reviews but apparently there is a market for this type of thing. However, we will certainly not be returning.

A big disappointment.

Food is amazing from starters to desserts and top notch quality and the views are amazing from the outdoor terrace! 
Lovely friendly lady and we will be going back to try the rest of the menu today as amazing quality 

Fantastic food with a view 

Room 12 ,possibly the worst room ever stayed in.Damp smell pervaded bedroom and bathroom,with damp on bathroom wall.Had leak in bedroom and wallpaper hanging off,couldn’t shut bedroom window and the dirt on window sill  was unbelievable.Shower old and unreliable wouldn’t hold up on riser.Paid £130 a night ,cancelled the next two nights that I had booked for and could only get in Weatherspoons hotel £60 a night and room was far superior.Oh nearly forgot had mouse scratching most of the night.

Very disappointed

Staying locally and come to Edern every year and loved the changes at the woodlands. A beautiful outside seating area and the food is even better than I remember. A soft play area for kids with a convenient family seating room, and beautiful views
