Fantastic - just wonderful. I travel a lot and stay at hotels, B & B's etc. A LOT all over the UK. This was the most relaxing 2 night stay I've had whilst on business - full stop. Samantha is amazing, accommodated my request to check in a bit late, made sure I knew exactly where to go and where to park. She couldn't do enough to make my stay the best - brought breakfast to my door early each morning, checked in with me by text to see if I needed anything - amazing. As for the accommodation - wow ! Lovely little cottage, comfy, cosy, quiet, great TV and channel selection. I'm heading back again soon on another business trip and even though the Goat House is further away from my work venue than other places, I'm staying there again. Can't fault this place.

Turned  business  into pleasure !

We stayed at The Goat House on our way back from the Latitude Festival in Southwold, so we arrived slightly grubby and in need of a good night's sleep. Samantha was so welcoming, and friendly, and everything about The Goat House was absolutely perfect.

The cottage consists of a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. They are all spacious, spotlessly clean, and  beautifully decorated. The bathroom has huge bath with luxurious toiletries. 

There's a table and chairs (as well as a huge sofa) in the sitting room - Samantha brings breakfast over to you, but we also brought in cold food for the evening and this didn't cause any problems. (NB the pub opposite is closed on Mondays, otherwise we'd have gone there for dinner.) The breakfast itself was delicious. 

Laxton is a pretty farming village, very quiet and peaceful. 

I'd recommend The Goat House wholeheartedly; we're already thinking about booking for longer next year. 

Perfect

The goat house is beautiful and was very comfortable and extremely clean - there were luxury toiletries, lots of fresh towels, bathrobes, comfy bed and sofa, great shower. It has everything you need and was just perfect for our stay - would highly recommend and we will definitely stay again if we're going back to the area. The hosts were lovely and very welcoming, and the home cooked breakfast was outstanding.

Everything you want from a stay - highly recommended

We spent four nights here and as always in the past had a fabulous stay. Samantha is the Queen of Hostesses. Her welcome, her great full breakfasts and her spotless cottage is just the best we’ve ever stayed in.  The cottage is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Laxton, which is peaceful and quiet, has with a nice pub just across the road.  This is our fourth stay here.

A return to an old favorite

Samantha is a fabulous host. Ivy Cottage is so lovely and comfortable. Great nights sleep. Absolutely spotless. Total relaxation wish we could have stayed longer.  Highly recommended and would stay again. Great restaurant across the road.

Ivy Cottage- gorgeous

We have just returned home from a one night stay here and we wish we could have stayed for longer!! What a gem of a place.
Arrived and welcomed by Samantha who was warm and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.
Lounge comfy with smart tv. Bathroom a great size with great toiletries, fluffy big towels and dressing gowns.
Bedroom had a very comfortable bed and pillows, clean crisp bedding and an extra heater if it got a bit chilly.
Whole place was spotless and comfortable.
Breakfast was bought over to us by Samantha. Cereal had already been left in the room as well as loads of tea and coffee. We then had bacon and egg rolls, croissants and pain au chocolate. Fresh coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. All very tasty and good quality.
We had a lovely night, thank you so much. We really hope to come back!

Fabulous!

If you're travelling north from southern England and want an overnight stop near the A1 then the Goat House at Ivy Cottage in Laxton may be just the place.  Owned and run by the very charming and helpful Samantha, the Goat House is a stand alone conversion offering double bedroom, excellent bathroom with shower and bath and a spacious lounge area with large screen TV.  It's furnished and decorated very sympathetically throughout.  My wife and I weren't able to have breakfast in the main house because of Covid so Samantha brought  a tray with our requests to the Goat House at the time of our choosing.  You can get an excellent dinner at the Dovecote Inn over the road. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Lovely overnight stay

My husband found the Goat house whilst looking for somewhere close to a wedding we were attending. Samantha the host is very welcoming and extremely helpful. Her cooked breakfast was delicious too. The accommodation is very comfortable and has everything you could need. The Goat House was spotlessly clean . If visiting the area again we wouldn’t hesitate staying there.

A little Gem

Stayed for 3 nights as was attending training in nearby Edwinstowe. Having been travelling a lot for work lately, I saw this and thought it looked a great alternative to yet another hotel. I’m very pleased that I booked this as it was a fantastic place to come back to at the end of the day and chill out. Beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, quiet and absolutely spotless. Samantha couldn’t have been more helpful and, as others have said, the breakfast is amazing. I can’t recommend highly enough.

We are attending a nearby wedding and found Goat House @ Ivy Cottage. We thought it looked good but when you see it, it is even better. Private accommodation, all modern conveniences but with character. Samantha is a warm hostess and made us a fabulous breakfast. The home made marmalade is well worth trying. Like us, you will want to take home a jar...Laxton looks lovely but we missed out on that. Hopefully an excuse to go back.
