We paid for a premium room. The bed was comfy, the shower was strong, the decor was tired, but ok. Clean though in need of a refurb (sealant/paint peeling around windows and bath). 

The main issue was the radiator, which was on throughout the night with no way of switching it off. We left the window open - so what a waste of energy that was. There was air in the heating system, so the radiator rumbled and popped throughout the night, making for a restless sleep. 

Receptionist on phone when we left made for an unpersonal experience. 

On the whole, a poor experience.

Too hot, too noisy

Booked a room which was transferred to the George Hotel in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent without any explanation.  I cancelled and was refunded.  As a consequence, would not recommend hotels of the OYO group.  Should have checked the reviews in TripAdvisor first - lesson learnt!

Bad, Bad, Bad

We struggled to get a refund as we paid for the room before actually finding our discusting room. We didn't stay ended up booking elsewhere which was a complete nightmare! We ended up with a parking ticket and a CCJ against us which has put us into a financial situation. We are now taking parking Eye to court. Its unbelievable we have never faced anything like this before. It's so upsetting. This hotel if not shut down already should not be on this  reputable site! If anyone else has been through this situation could they advise on what we should do? Thank you.

Do not stay here!

Entrance looks nice and elegant but do not let this fool you. The rooms are in a horrific state with damaged furniture, dust and the smell of damp. This hotel does not even allow visitors and thus I had to cancel my business meeting.

Worst hotel ever!

This is the worst hotel I’ve ever visited.. the service was absolutely disgraceful, the state of the hotel was disgusting and I got a parking fine from them also which I didn’t receive in the post (unaware of) which nearly turned into a CCJ!

I would never ever recommend this place to stay and hope they get closed down.. DISCUSTING!

Visitor

Absolutely disgusting! The bathrooms are thick with mould and the carpets look like they have something living underneath them! The bedsheets are dirty and greasy and the edges of the windows are growing their own fungus!! The headboards have been defaced with vile messages and worrying scratch marks! Couldn’t get a refund so instead had to upgrade to their bridal suite for an extra £40! The main reason being that it was the only room in the building with a lock on the door! The staff there are all incredibly rude and the whole place did not feel like a safe environment!! Do not stay here!!!!

Get hit by a car and spend the night in A&E instead

I booked this Hotel for one night (15/12/19) at £40 per night. After booking, via Booking.com I received a message from the Hotel informing me that due to renovation there was no Restaurant or Bar in operation. I telephoned the Hotel to get assurances that all was well, I was told that everything was fine. My partner and I entered our room at 4 pm on Saturday, it was disgusting, the photos bear witness to this. I would say that if the room had been 'free of charge' then it would still have been overpriced! At 11.30 pm several cars parked up outside and played music so loud that it drowned out the noise coming from the adjoining rooms. A peaceful night was not had by all. Upon checking out we were not asked if everything was OK, in fact I left the room key on the reception counter, the receptionist did not acknowledge my presence. All in all this was the worst Hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in hundred's of them.

The First Minus One Hotel I have ever stayed in

We booked a visitor into this hotel and we are a nearby company.  The room was awful, so she complained and they moved her to one of their refurbished rooms - which was no better!  I arranged to collect her and move her to the nearby Premier Inn - and 3 weeks later I receive £100 fine for parking for 10 minutes.  DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL!!

Awful rooms and parking fine for the trouble!!

I haven't been able to review on booking.com as I had my stay refunded by them. So I'm leaving it here as the management refused to speak with me last night. 

I have stayed here between 10 and 15 times over the last 2 years and always found it reasonable for the price and I didnt care about its tired look or lack of restaurant. It was somewhere cheap and warm to lay my head. 

I booked last night for my partner and I to have a much needed break away. We booked the suite. It had been recarpeted since the 1st time I stayed in this room, but it was COLD. 
My partner wanted a bath and the water was tepid at best. I went to the desk and he came up to try it. Though warm to the touch, it was not hot by any means. He rang maintenance who told him to go to the room opposite and run the water which had an air block... this improved it a tiny bit, but running a bath it was still tepid. We began boiling the kettle to heat it up but this was getting tedious and fruitless, and I scolded myself rushing to get the next kettle on. 
Went back down to the desk and James was trying to help. He have us 3 kettles to fill and on plugging in the 3rd one it tripped the room electrics and we fell into darkness. By this point I was at my wits end and demanded to speak to the manager. Apparently they don't speak to the public our of hours so I was unable to talk to them. James said the manager had said I need to take it up with booking.com. I rang them from the foyer and they spoke to hotel and refunded my money and we went to best western, which is a better option if you are looking for anywhere else. A bus shelter would be better, frankly. 

They've blown it. I used to find it's tiredness almost endearing... as the staff was always lovely. 

James was lovely too. I felt for him as it was it first week and his boss didn't have the support for him at all. I apologised to him as I know it wasnt his fault, he was doing his best. 

The new management seem to have no concept of hospitality management or customer service. 

Thankfully we got a refund but didn't end up having a lovely evening together, just a huge amount of stress. 

If you want a stress free stay... go to ANYWHERE ELSE!!

Stayed one night here never ever again absolutely shocking mouldy damp dusty broken glass just awful spoke to manager his attitude was a disgrace im 26 weeks pregnant qnd he speaks to me like utter crap i am lost for words on this place needs shutting down this was room 45 #dump reception area was amazing but the place is far from it so diecieving
