I have been staying at the Newport Student Village on a weekly basis for over 5 years now. I have always found the staff to be helpful, the room clean, bed comfortable & warm in the winter. The kitchen is excellent, has all you need & means that i am not either eating pub food or takeaways. Above all i have always felt safe staying here. I have & would highly recommend.

Excellent facilities & service

I have spent 3 days hear it is a great place a good as a 4 star and great wifi and hard network hook up with ASDA within walking distance and a good reck room and parking. great views of the river and the local landmarks contract workers will be well looked after

what a great B to B location

very good place to stay for good value for people who are not bias to rough areas of Newport(but when in your hotel room it didn't matter)
Just behind hotel building you can go for a lovely walk along the river towards amazing iron bridge

Good stay

I have lived here for 2 years and the staff have been nothing but helpful! Close to town, security on site 24/7 and they have priority taxi service.  No onsite parking but there is a car park next door which if you are staying long term offer permits.  Short term would park elsewhere as you have to renew ticket at 6am every day but this is not the Villages fault as the car park is owned by someone else.  Would definitely recommend :)

Long Term Stay

A great facility which is clean, safe & has very friendly staff. I have been staying here on & off for the last few months & would highly recommend. Being able to use the shared kitchen is a real bonus.

Great facility

Great value for money I have to say. The room and kitchen area were clean and tidy and as it happens we had it to ourselves, but there's plenty of space if any of the other five rooms are occupied. We took a small TV from home and found reception no problem with our small aerial. 
No parking but if you drive up to the next roundabout and keep left on E Dock Road, there's plenty of on street parking in marked bays and you're ok between 6pm and 8am with 2 hours permitted either side so realistically it's 4pm till 10am. 
Friendly staff, and larger room than we expected. We'd definitely do this again.

Big room, good value

Spent a couple of nights here while attending a concert in Cardiff centre.

10/15 minutes walk from station - plenty of trains to choose from. Limited parking available (£7.50/24 hrs) but secure.

Easy access to/from main road. Rooms were very clean with shower wetrooms. Quiet location, with very easy access to the local Asda and Lidl. Common room shared between 5 rooms- fridge/freezer kettle etc etc. ( needed tea towel/s though).

Mattresses were a bit worn, and could do with replacing but nevertheless the rooms were ok. 

Reception staffed 24 hours. Safe and secure.

Stayed here to visit Comic Con Wales 2022.

Check in went smoothly, keys picked up from reception. Vending machines at reception and told about nearby Lidl and Asda.

On arrival to the room I found the room very hotel. Room was pleasant for the price with a large double bed, desk and wardrobe. En suite bathroom pod which contained toilet, shower, mirror, bathroom shelf and sink.

Mentioned at reception I needed a fan that night. Receptionist seemed to be in the process of being trained up by other receptionist. He was quite distant. Had to email reception a few hours later as no fan had been provided and another receptionist brought the fan up. 

Shared kitchen/TV room very clean with lots of facilities.

Building very safe as key fob used around 4 times in the building to get to room.

The walls are paper thin and I could hear the room next door's conversation from 7am on the Saturday which was very irritating as I didn't have to be up for my event until later. The room next door were stomping around and slamming doors.

Even for the price, I would expect a shower I could get washed properly in. It was difficult as the shower pressure was very low and only a small trickle of water came out. Toiletries provided.

Sheets were not changed during my 3 night stay nor were the bins emptied. 

There was no toilet brush which is basic hygiene. 

Top shelf of desk had not been cleaned and was very dusty. Apart from that, room very clean. 

Location excellent for local supermarkets, bingo Hall across the road and only a 5-10 taxi ride from the city centre and train station. 

A hairdryer was provided. 

All in all, excellent value for money and low price but a shower that enables proper washing is a basic human right and the very low water pressure needs to be addressed. The rooms and building need air conditioning due to the extreme heat in the summer.

Comic Con Wales 2022

My daughter and I stayed for a week to visit with family.  There are two great things about this hotel, the staff are amazing.  And the location.  The rooms not so much.  Luckily the price made putting up with the room bearable.  The road noise is awful.  Also the extreme heat inside the room meant we had to have the window open which made it very hard to sleep due to the road noise.  Totally out of the control of the staff and there had been a large fan placed inside the room which helped a little.  Also we had a very small room with the bed up against the wall and the head board not flush with the wall behind meant it had broken and wasn't very easy to lean against and when the only other choice for a seat is the small single desk chair its not great.  Ensuite bathroom is nice, but I'm not a fan of the wet room concept as it leaves hair and a very wet floor for quite some time.  The kitchen again is a great idea and although the crockery was clean the rest of the kitchen wasn't really a place where I would wish to do any cooking.  My daughter and I did eat breakfast in here and there is a TV but neither of the two remotes worked so we couldn't use it.  Having the use of the two large fridges for those that want to cook is a useful addition.  There is no house keeping here until the rooms are changed over so had we had much more trash we would have had to take it down to the communal bins in the court yard ourselves.  Again for the cost this isn't really an issue but some travelers may find it unacceptable.  The staff are very friendly and helpful and the location so close to Asda, Lidl and Friars walk and all its shopping and restaurants is wonderful.  There is no parking within the complex but there is a private car park just adjacent and you can email the company prior to visiting to pay for a parking pass which I did, to save having to put money in the parking machine on a daily basis.  This place is primarily student accommodation and although most had left for the summer there were still some around while working, never an issue and those that we did come across were friendly enough.  We would definitely choose to stay here again as you do get value for money and a decent place to stay.

Great staff and great location for the price.

There are 6 bedrooms (with bathroom) to an apartment (flat) plus a communal kitchen/dining/living area.  This is perfect for a group, as each person/couple can have the privacy of their own room but with the ability to eat or visit together in a relaxed setting.  If self-catering (kitchen facilities so you can do your own cooking) appeals, this is an excellent choice.  The price is much less than for a standard hotel room, and the rooms are as clean as could be asked for.  There are two markets within just a few blocks, so getting groceries is easy.  Desk staff and security are friendly and helpful (and a security officer is present 24/7).  Loved visiting with the resident students too!
