Been going there for 15 years. Love the walk to the beach. Having a meal in the mermaid pub. And going body boarding. Friendly staff on site. Not to much of a walk in to Newquay the town. And take aways deliver to the site. My kids love going there every year

Great time for families

We camped here in summer and absolutely loved the close proximity to the beach, we could walk to porth beach in less than 5 minutes and into Newquay in half an hour. The grass was kept neat and cut and the toilet and shower block was cleaned twice a day. The site was quiet after 10pm every night. 

The actual beach feels safe with lifeguards there during summer and it’s very shallow when the tide is in. 

The only downsides are no swings or park  for the children and crossing a road over to the beach which can be busy in peak season, although drivers were courteous.  

Best campsite for beach lovers 

We stayed in a static caravan at Porth Beach, a site that has limited facilities. Overpriced compared with some other Cornish sites but it is near Newquay and just over the road from the lovely Porth beach so you probably pay for the location.

We hired bed linen which did not properly fit the double bed and had a mark on one of the sheets.  Also the beds did not have any mattress or pillow protectors.  Towels not provided.  Good range of kitchen equipment.

The caravan itself would benefit from some minor maintenance work - the bathroom door did not close properly - and a deep clean both inside and out.

Despite the negative points we enjoyed our stay here and would probably visit again as the location is great.

Great Location

Stunning site which has been a yearly family tradition for almost twenty years. Only lacks some amenities such as a play-park, shop and clubhouse. 

The camping pitches and static caravans are fantastic however the clamping pods are very basic and only include four single bunk beds.

Excellent Place to Stay

Lovely campsite just minutes from the beach, fabulous to walk our dog morning and evening on Porth Beach. All day dog friendly beaches a short walk away. Great hourly bus service into Newquay if you don’t fancy the uphill walk. Lovely clean loos and showers. Mermaid pub great for food- eat in or take out. A lovely week.

A lovely week.

Second time visiting. We camped this time in our in laws motorhome. Absolutely love this site. Love the beach. We booked a premium site which gave us plenty of room with the motorhome, awning and room for my son to play. Facilities spotless. Staff lovely and friendly and helpful! I love the laid back feel and atmosphere of the place, music on, people people talking and laughing, kids playing, that’s what holidays are about! Nothing worse than a camp site with zero atmosphere!! Felt safe with security.

There is a little shop (Roos coffee) just outside that sells bread and milk, bacon etc. Their home made sausage rolls are delicious too. Definitely recommend. make sure to take essentials as shops are a bit of a walk if you need something in a hurry.

Unfortunately, the mermaid isn’t as good as it used to be. Praying someone takes over and makes it fantastic again. But it’s a lovely half hour walk into Newquay along the coast so we ate and had a few drinks there a few nights. Also, lusty glaze looks fab with a few restaurants and events. 

Going to be going to Porth Holiday Park every year now just not during boardmasters as extremely busy. No buses or taxis or signal and absolutely rammed. Otherwise, my son cried when we had to come home he loved it that much. Beautiful beach.

Favourite camp site

Myself, my husband and our Pomeranian have just returned home from a 4 night stay in our campervan at Porth Beach.   
After booking this campsite I was shocked and worried to read some of the reviews on here.  So here are my thoughts on the site.  
The campsite was quieter due to it being a monday-friday and during school time.  
I thought the facilities were fantastic, the park was very clean and quiet. 
The facility block had a launderette room with coin operated washing machine & tumble dryer - I also spotted 2 irons & ironing boards in there.  The kitchen sink area had about 8 sinks for your dirty dishes plus 2 for clothes swilling/washing by hand.  There are water taps (which are suitable for drinking) dotted around the site and 2 ellson points - 1 at the entrance and 1 by the side of the men's toilets.  
The ladies toilet/shower block had plenty of nice warm showers, plenty of clean toilets, plenty of hand basins/mirrors, electric sockets for hairdryers/charging and a large 'sink/bath' to wash your baby/toddler.  
My husband tells me the men's had plenty of showers, toilets and cubicles with sinks & mirrors.   
Our walk/stroll with the dog from the site to central Newquay took about 45 minutes.  We used the buses most days which stopped/picked up right outside the site.  Cost was approx £4.80 return for 2 adults to the bus station.   
Dogs can go on the beach opposite after 6pm - 10am in the morning (during the restricted months).  Then anytime 1st October to 1st May.  
We had a great time at Porth Beach Campsite and will definitely be booking to come back next year.  C, M & Bertie Pom 🐾

This was a return visit and unfortunately we wont be returning ..

I am sorry to say that only good thing about the site is the beach location.

Groups of kids hanging around and inside toilet blocks jumping off railings on scooters and walking round with handcuffs saying to younger kids if they mess about they will be arrested (yes it was said to my child) ,  I went to toilet one night about 2.30am and a few of them were actually still sat in there talking and messing around.
I do think that a small section of the site should be made for the kids to play instead of playing in the road or in-between tents / caravans.

Very Disappointing Stay

The only good thing about this site is the location for porth beach. Everything else has gone down hill since our last visit in August 2021. We visited with a group of friends, 2 couples camping, 1 in a van and 1 in a caravan. When we arrived the staff at reception was very unhelpful as we asked if we could swap pitches and was told the site is full so can’t move , the pitch we asked about was free the the whole time we was there. Yet other, older, big groups of people seemed to ignore the rules and just set up where and how they like. The staff in reception aren’t helpful at all and are very patronising to younger (25+)  groups of people. The campsite is expensive for very basic facilities, which aren’t cleaned enough. Groups of kids was also running/zooming up and down on electric scooters all over the site and hanging around in the toilets. Despite signs saying no scooters around the site.  Won’t be returning next year.

Disappointing stay

Very friendly staff had very little to do with them but the little we did they were very helpful. facilities great. Location is fantastic, mermaid pub across do lovely food. 
This is the sad bit to write. 
When we arrived we was given written instructions to how we needed to put the caravan/ awning and car, no problem as get this on every site we visit. Straight away we noticed other just pitch how they like so with all the caravans with awnings, pup tents/ gazebos on each pitch, the site is rammed. Lots are not interested if they go over the boundaries. 3 families holidaying together just had a free for all on how they pitched. We had 2 different campers park so close to our caravan they practically had to touch the van to get around because they pitched up badly with no regard to others. 2 days opened out toilet bathroom window to find a blow up mattress with 2 young adults a sleep practically leaning on our van to get out the sun. There is NO 3 meter rule even if it tells you on the pamphlet . Kids playing with water from the Elson points, toilets/showers left with toilet paper thrown everywhere not many people cleaned after themselves in the showers so left very dirty nowhere to put toiletries as every surface dirty. Kids playing in the bathroom at night( mens apparently are better ) A battle for the staff. Teenagers running around with handcuffs. Kids running feral most parents don’t seam to careless as long as the kids not bothering them. Very noisy people even after midnight. We chose this site for the security but personally I never did see one walk around if they did probably the noise level would have been to a minimum. We was there for 2 weeks spoke to a lady on our last evening she had just arrived the night before, she was further up the site she had to complain regarding kids to security on her first night. The site is far to small for all these extra small tents/ gazebos even the premium pitches. With the ones taking the pitches up with every tent/ gazebo possible the only room is to then park virtually on the road. Caravans can’t turn to get off there pitches. If the staff went around this could be fixed. I normally find fellow campers to be very friendly, not here probably due to the BIG family/ friends groups monopolising the site.  This is not a cheep site we chose it as great location to the beach and no evening entertainment. Not noisy adults who would be better in a bar. Would go back but not school holidays which I suppose is the worst time. Luckily for us this is the last time we need to do school holiday times. 
On a good note Cornwall is beautiful.
