Terrible experience with this B&B

All pictures on website are taken from its best angles.... Beware.

Also in a very dodgy busy built up area with lots of traffic and a noisy main road just outside. We will never come back. Rude owner. 

Avoid at all costs

I stayed here for a few nights at the beginning of September.
Whilst it's location is fantastic for town and beaches that's probably where the postives stop.
The car park is tiny and you run the risk of being blocked in if you use it. I parked on the road instead.
The whole premises is outdated and really in need of some renovations, a number of rooms were closed off due to a leak.
The host Janet is incredibly opinionated and doesn't make any effort to conceal her thoughts, she at times was quite rude and offensive to me and my friend, openly mocking us and she made some comments on my appearance. She is pleasant, as long as you agree with what she says, I got the impression that if you were to disagree she would be very rude and unreasonable. Also she doesn't seem to respect boundaries and will not give the guests space when she sees them.
Breakfast is average, you have to choose the night before what you want and there is an incredibly tight window (8:45-9:15) with no room to budge, I did not eat everything on my plate and she questioned why I hadn't and said she wouldn't cook me that again which I found quite rude.
There are numerous rules at the Hotel such as consuming food and drink not purchased on the site, the rule 'book' gives the impression that she will go through your rubbish and things to see if any rules have been broken although I did not see her do this exclusively.
In my opinion it is pricey for what you get and I would not stay here again I would go elsewhere.

Really enjoyed my stay, great host and breakfast.
If you like the old traditional style B&B of Cornwall this is the place to come!
Really good location slap bang in the middle of newquey!

Janet and Clive welcomed us as soon as we arrived, comfortable room, lovely breakfast, even when busy janet and clive always made time to chat to us and gave us leaflets maps of different places to visit. Thank you both for making our stay lovely.

A nice place to stay

Got here July 29th with my 8 year old son & my friend for one week. Upon arrival everything was fine, apart from finding a sock,hairband,bottle of cream & sweet wrappers behind th drawers which was coated in thick dust. But it wasn't until mid week that problems began to occur. Janet has a very abrupt attitude, went down for breakfast & she shouted 'excuse me' with a tray of food in a loud tone. It states online that the bar closes at 9pm. The smoking area is situated next to this. At 7:30 it was locked so we was unable to get to the smoking area & had to sit out at the front.

Breakfast is so so, served with the tiniest glass of juice which is consumed after one little gulp. Rooms are cleaned between 10-12 & I was in the middle of getting ready & was told by Clive my room cannot be hoovered that day. The room was in dire need of a hoover & my friend even offered to quickly go round with it but Clive refused. Our cups & saucers provided was not changed all week either & just accumulated thick dust. When we came back that day oom was still dirty & the bin hadn't even been changed! The website states that towels are cleaned every two days, the three towels that were provided wasn't cleaned all week!

Before leaving, I had asked for a fry up for breakfast but got scrambled eggs instead. Janet then told me 'it's too late now it's not cooked' even though she served five fry ups after this. She told me a fry up would take 30 minutes but still didn't offer my choice of breakfast which I told her in advance. Before leaving I politely explained about our towels, dirty floor & bin. & also that I was confused why a fry up couldn't of been cooked. I was then met with shouting & anger in the most impertinent manner! She said: 'excuse me I am sick of your attitude, you need parenting skills I am sick of looking after your son' Even though her own son doesn't speak to her at all. She also made a comment to my son because I bought him toy handcuffs saying 'why on earth did your mother buy you these?' Clearly we are not as stuck up & old fashioned, imaginative play expands children's minds so I didn't see the point in this discourteous comment.

She undermined my parenting, even though only one occasion this week she was watching my son playing with her dogs which we was checking on him. She made it sound like she was my son's babysitter for the duration of time we was there. I kept explaining about the condition of the room & breakfast she then shouted 'get out' & slammed the door in our faces.

This woman is extremely obnoxious in addition to lackadaisical. She clearly wanted to argue & used the excuse that my son was palmed off which is very insincere. Lies.

I DO NOT recommend The Croft to anybody. I strongly advise to AVOID. Janet has also explained she hates children & she has hated all of her guests. Says alot!

Atrocious

Location of b and b is excellent. Not far from beach. Breakfast is great. Only bad thing is not enough parking spaces. Car park is too small for size of b and b. The lady owner is very chatty and friendly.
