Stayed for one night in January after being let down by closed down Central hotel next door. Amazingly they had a triple room available at very short notice. Checked into Riverside B&B although you are taken across the road to another building. Soon as you walk in very strong smell of damp despite recently painted. Room three single beds did the job for three lads. Wouldn’t take my misses here.

We tried to check in at 1pm. No one answered our 10 phone calls or answered the front door. We walked into town and received a phonecall at 5pm asking if we are going to arrive !!
We arrived at 6.15pm and were told it was £5.00 to park which we refused as we had paid a car park from check in time. So was not charged parking. The room was really clean and bed comfy I have no complaints on that score. I am not sure if this place doubles up as a Hostel. A family were staying in the next room x 5 adults and children. They started cooking in a make shift kitchen at 9.30pm kids shouting from 9pm onwards. We called the reception guy who put a stop to it. The room faces the main road and you may as well be sleeping on the pavement as its so noisy . 😴  I can't fault the room but we won't be staying again !!!!


Hotel or Hostel ? Noisy !!!!!

We booked a night in the riverside guest house. The room cost us £70 including a parking permit. 
When entering the room it smelt damp and was overpowering we thought this was just a case of opening the windows, which we did and went out for the night, when we arrived back the smell was stronger. 
In the room we were advised that if there were any issues with our stay to email them directly to the hotel, which we did, I informed them that we had to sleep with the windows open due to there been no ventilation and an overpowering smell. To which they replied below. 
Baring in mind the conditions they mention towards the end was that I had mentioned that I had asthma and was pregnant and struggled to sleep in the room as it was. 
And according to them I should have made them aware of my ‘condition’ and they would have given us an alternative or cancelled. 

At "Riverside" we have 4 buildings and 9 different types of rooms for the variety of guests with different needs and budget.
When we received this booking on the 2 March 2022, I was asking myself: who are these people, making the reservation so far in advance and selecting our cheapest (our worst) room? All the better rooms were available, and at that time the prices were very low, for a few quid you could have Standard or even Superior room...
General info: ..."Please make sure the type of bed(s) and size of the room(s) you booked suit your needs. Note, there are Small (Economy), Standard and Superior sizes of the rooms. If Small room is selected, please expect it to be smaller than Standard room, one side of the bed against the wall and no view from the window.
When the cheapest room is selected, one should ask: "What kind of people book these rooms and in this area? 
We didn't receive any information about you or your condition in the section "Important info about the guest" or "Special requests" and knew nothing about your sensitivity (nobody else complained about the smell)
If you'd mention your condition on your booking, then we'd advise you to upgrade your room or cancel it altogether.

DO NOT STAY

The room was spotless, shower hot and wifi was excellent. The room itself was a good size for a solo traveller. Location 5 mins walk to train station and town centre. 
The stairs up to the room were extremely narrow (this was mentioned but I think they are unsafe). 
Check-in was awkward, I arrived just after check-in began and was told we weren't expecting you yet (I was 25mins earlier than the time I had said I would arrive). Not the friendliest of check-ins.  
The hallway smelled of cigarettes too. 
But it was cheap and ok for 2 nights.

Room was clean and good location

We booked this hotel for 3 nights 19-21 st July based on pictures on there web site it looked just what we wanted the rooms looked comfortable and plenty of space with river side views  when  we arrived we had problems finding it as address we were given was actually an  annex   not part of the hotel we were actually in the roof on one of the hottest days of the year one tiny fan the bed was broken slats removed and replaced with an old mattress under the top mattress so as soon as you sat on the bed you went through shower room smelt of bad drains and not even extractor fan one set of broken drawers and a cheap hanging rail it was so bad we left the following morning the only plus’s side it was clean but apart from that one of the worst places I have ever stayed so if you book this hotel double check where they are putting you would never go back or recommend!!!

The worst place I have ever stayed

I travel all over the country for work and was visiting Norwich for the first time and decided to book this place due to proximity to train station.
When arriving it took several minutes for the door to be answered - got the keys and had to go up several flights of stairs which I'm sure don't meet health and safety as they're super thin and have railing just to help you up.
Room was tiny and you couldn't stand up in bathroom due to the design.
Walls must be the thinnest I've ever stayed in as was woken up several times until I just gave up on the idea of sleep
I've now got 10 hours of work with a neck that's ruined due to a terrible bed and no sleep.

It may be cheap but it is for a reason

Worst place I've stayed

Arrived a bit earlier than I stated when I booked and the guy that opened the door wasn't happy and made it clear, although it was only 30 mins.  Moaned we got the room too cheap as we booked early through Booking.Com.  Then moaned about how much the parking permits cost him.

The room was awful only one half of the curtain up. The room was scruffy and tired looking although the bedding was clean.  The pictures on Booking.com were nothing like our room.

Two o'clock in the morning there was hammering on the door, people stomping about upstairs until 3 am.  We got up early and left by 8 as I couldn't wait to get out.

DISAPPOINTING TO SAY THE LEAST

I booked this for a girly night out but couldn't make it. I contacted the Hotel for a refund, they couldn't do this because I was late in cancelling but they did change the date for me. Correspodence was very quick and helpful. I was a little concerned by reading other reviews of what to expect but I needn't of worried. We had a superior room overlooking the river and it was lovely, comfortable beds and pillows and a good shower. The room was very warm, we had a fan but had to keep the windows open. This was the only downfall because it is on a main road and the traffic doesn't stop. But thats not the Hotels fault. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. There us a key code on the front door which is a plus as I felt much safer knowing only the residents can get in. There is another building with rooms in so if its the hotel you want I would contact them first to make sure that is where you will be staying.

Better than expected after reading reviewz

Having stayed here 10 years ago with previous warm,welcoming owners, was disappointed to turn up just 5 minutes short of 1-30 book in time, had door shut in my face and made to wait outside by a very grumpy, rude and obnoxious tall bloke, who then transferred me to a different house , to a box room , anyway the first night I was woken at 4am by two males who opened my door as the locks do not work properly, same as a complicated lock system to get in the place, which only works when it wants to, got locked out twice and the grumpy old fella begrudgingly got me in, but with no people skills and an ice cold miserable demeanor , after my first night I was close to going over to the premier inn, but stuck it out by staying out most of day and night, the rooms are good standard but the staff let it down, will never ever go there again, and advise people to look elsewhere, and a better hotel.....this was just awful

Dissapointing

Well where do you start ? Arrived to find that the photos give you a false sense of what your in for. The only good thing about this place is you are welcomed by the people, but that’s all, when you asked for parking passes all you get is negative replies, and arguing statements like “check your bookings “ so unless you ask for parking and breakfast “ you get nothing.
Rooms are small and stink, beds are old, basically this place makes Faulty Towers look like the Hilton !!!!
