Great place to stay in Oban, fairly close to the action in the town, so was an easy walk.
Very clean room.
Bathroom was extremely small but very new and very clean. 
Entry and stairs were welcoming and easy to navigate.
Would recommend for a short stay.

Great room for a short stay.

Tiny room, no hanging space for clothes apart from back of bathroom door. If you get a space in the car park your lucky 8 rooms 5 spaces paid parking outside 4 hrs only. Lots of damage to walls in the room and scuff marks so it looked scruffy more like student accommodation. Overwhelming smell of bleach so we left bathroom vent on and window open when we went out.

Not worth it.

I recently stayed at the Raniven Guesthouse in Oban, and overall, the experience was quite pleasant. The room and bathroom were both modern and clean, which was a big plus. The bed was comfortable, and everything else in the guesthouse was in good order.

However, there were some issues with accessing the property. There was no check-in information provided in advance, which caused some frustration. Upon arrival, there was no in-person check-in available. When we tried to contact the guesthouse directly for assistance, the person on the phone was quite unfriendly and not helpful at all. Apparently, our travel agency did not provide us with the code for the key box. Nevertheless, the response during the call was rather unprofessional.

Additionally, no information was provided regarding the check-out process, so we ended up just leaving the key in the key box when we left.

In summary, while the guesthouse itself is comfortable and well-maintained, the customer service could definitely be improved.

Comfortable Stay, Poor Customer Service

We stayed here from 30th August to 2nd september.for my son's wedding at dunollie castle. The.location was perfect and it was a lovely guesthouse. Only downside was room was quite small so there wasn't much room to move about. We would definitely stay again, but would book a bigger room.

Quiet street with plenty of amenities. 3 minutes to the harbour. Comfy beds, clean and good water pressure. 

Stayed with two teenagers who had a twin to themselves and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 

Instructions were clear and the on site cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful.

Quiet base to explore Oban from.

This was a perfect room for me and my partner to stay for the weekend. 
The owners are more than helpful.

The only thing I might advise would be to maybe a small kitchenette near the window so guests to that room could do self catering if they choose.

Overall 5 star stay....

PS The View is a nice place to party in the evening.

Weekend Stay In Oban December 2023

Stayed in Room 4 on the first floor. The room was lovely and clean,  
small but very comfortable. Everything spotlessly clean and bed really comfy. 
The room temperature was really easy to regulate and worked perfectly.
Ideal location, an easy walk into town and handy for the Corran Halls. 
Will certainly stay here again 


Oban Weekend 

Simply cannot recommend Raniven, and The Dun studio apartment highly enough!

Perfectly located just off the main street of Oban and just a couple of minutes walk from the bay, this amazing apartment was meticulously clean, tastefully decorated, well appointed and the perfect size for a couple of days in Oban.

Liam, the owner, based remotely but is  always on hand for anything you need whilst the entry system was seamless.

Cannot wait to return! Thank you for a wonderful stay.



Perfect sized apartment for a couple of days away.

A lovely clean, comfy room. Everything spotlessly clean and bed really comfy. An amazing view over Oban worth the small extra charge. Plenty of parking which was a big bonus.Woukd definitely return with out hesitation.

Great place

A very nice facility with an easy walk into the waterfront area of Oban.  Meal service had ended before my stay but it was simple enough to find meals in town.  There was a large bathroom shared with one other room, never an issue.  Plenty of parking on site.  Self check-in was simple with an email providing all details needed.  The manager checked in with me during my stay to make sure I had no issues or needs.  No noise issues during my time there.
