We arrived early enough (because of the rain) and they did their best to give us our room around 1:00 p.m. Super nice from the staff. The parking lot is quite difficult to access and small but free. The city of Oban is worth seeing, unfortunately under heavy rain we didn't see much. There is no restaurant and breakfast is quite simple but good.

The hotel is decent and the room is spacious, although it needs some minor repairs.The breakfast is half decent (to be Scottish), at least you have options.The bad score is because the restaurant is closed (when advertised as hotel with restaurant) and because the wifi signal was so weak that it was only picked up near the front door and, still there, the connection was often lost.

Well located on the main street in Oban and within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and attractions (except perhaps McCaig's Tower).  The twin room, facing the car park at the back, was quiet and clean and the beds were comfortable.  the rooms at the front do not have a better view as they only look out to the shops and houses over the road.  Nice flat screen TV and modern bathroom with the shower over the bath.  Too bad the adjoining steakhouse has been closed.  The staff were friendly and courteous and the breakfasts plentiful. No lift to the bedrooms could cause difficulty for those with walking difficulties.  Very quiet in the bar in the evenings and we only returned to the hotel when we were ready for bed.
The hotel has been sold and will be under new management within the month.

Good location

A nights stay prior to a ferry to Mull. Easy to find and with probably just enough car parking. A great location for enjoying the harbour and its attractions and also for a quick transfer on to the ferry terminal. The rear entrance from the car park is indicative of a no nonsense approach at the hotel; which means you go past the kitchen and laundry holding area; the main bar and reception area are spacious and clean. The room was fine, if you just want to rest your head, but a little pricey for what it was. Breakfast a little let down by overcooked poached eggs.

Excellent location with parking

Didn’t stay at hotel but there for a meal recently.  The food was excellent and highly recommended.  There with friends who are local to the town.  Had 2 courses and was full and no room for a sweet.  Staff very pleasant.  If back in area would definitely return.  

Amazing Food

Stayed 3 nights at Rowantree. Welcoming friendly staff and carparking at rear. Carparking in Oban appears difficult, so we wanted a place within walking distance of town and left the car out the back. The hotel is well located for this. Meals in the dining room were good.  About 15mins easy walk to the ferry terminal for Mull and Iona tour.
The room we had was very clean but a bit cramped by comparison to other accommodation we had in our 5 weeks in Scotland. However, it's really only a place to sleep for the night, and the important bits (bed, shower) were good, so it's ok. Our room faced rear to the carpark so it was fairly quiet. Getting luggage up the stairs was a bit of a challenge, wide enough, but...stairs.

Good choice of pubs and eateries in Oban. A destination I would recommend.

steak and ale pie  lovely  and massive  roast beef with a huge  yorkshire pudding allhot with nice  cream  potatoes  and onion  gravy  staff all nice and helpfull been here quite a few times  for a meal and will be back a gain

The hotel itself is not bad, but there are several negative things. Breakfast in the first place is scandalous: everything pre-packaged and very little choice. There are 2 wifi available, one from the hotel and one from the steakhouse underneath the hotel.. and none of the two are functioning! The rooms are quite cozy, except for the bathrooms that are old and contiguous. Partly stuffed tiles and several small broken things (like the toilet seat or the toilet drawer handles). Also, I forgot my jacket in the radio and I've been waiting for two weeks for them to reply to my e-mails.. I hope that the thing gets solved!

So many things to improve.

Good night in Oban.

It's been a while with some broken corners and edges, but rooms are fine, big bed. It was clean. We got fresh towels, although we hung them up again (taste thing). Breakfast buffet is limited, but at B&B you can order extra without extra charge. The food is okay. Among the 3 star hotels, it's more mid-range, so 3 points.
