Pre-ferry overnight stay in this well positioned hostel on the seafront.  

Since I am no youth and do not want to share a bunk room I booked a double room with its own toilet and shower.  This was perfect for my single night with an early start.

I arrived at a busy time on a Friday night but was welcomed and asked politely to wait to be checked in.  Everyone was being given all of the relevant information for the hostel, the facilities and the local area in a friendly and helpful way.

My room was a good size and very comfortable.  I had a good sleep and was happy to strip the bed as requested on my departure.  This is a good way of helping out the hostel staff so that they have more time to interact with guests.

I was able to park in the hostel car park but had it been full there were spaces on the promenade which would have been free overnight.

I expect to stay here again.

Excellent location, comfortable double room

The warmth of the welcome when we arrived spoke volumes - we felt like we were old friends, welcomed back to a much appreciated and well run facility.  We love staying here, it's our annual 'night before the ferry' place to stay and it was as good as ever.  Love being able to bring the dogs with us, sit and eat fish and chips (another part of the tradition) in the dining room and sneak out early in the morning without worrying about waking up other residents as most of them are similarly heading to the ferry terminal!  Slept so well, super comfy beds!

The warmest of welcomes

This is a stunningly good youth hostel. We stayed in a family room and had comfy beds, warmth, a shower and toilet, and most importantly a huge window looking out at the sea and the bay. There are lovely hanging out rooms downstairs, with equally lovely views. And a great kitchen and dining area. The staff were so friendly and helpful too. A really great place to stay in Oban!

I don’t know what to say about those cheaters:
I booked by booking.com with a „free cancellation policy“
Because my partner was not ok with staying in a hostel i canceled the same day.
They sent a message to refund the money within 5-7 workdays, but didn’t.

Now i need the help of Booking.com to fight with those cheaters to get my money back.
I am quite sure that Booking.com helps me by pressure on them, however, they also tell me that in general its up to the host to realize the refund.

So whatever you do:
Don’t believe in a free or discounted cancellation policy. If you go there and you paid then expect that your money is gone or you will at least have to take a lot of effort to get it back. After 3 weeks I am still fighting and its not clear if i can finally succeed.
Maybe i need to involve a lawyer todo so.

Worst scam experience with accommodations

This is a real gem of a facility that ticks all boxes, including wonderful value for money.  Rooms overlooking the sea were comfortable, of a good size and well maintained.  A+ location within walking distance of all that Oban had to offer. Dining area with pantry came in very handy for quick self-catered meals and coffee.  Free parking available on site and that was an advantage.  Highly recommended!

The girl on reception was very friendly and helpful, especially when I locked myself out of my room late one evening

Much improved youth hostel. Great private rooms, comfortable everything works. Excellent friendly service adequate continental breakfast although breads could be more interesting. Perhaps croissants next time? Will return again.

This was our first time staying in a hostel and I was a little worried. But we booked a private room with en-suite so was willing to give it a try. (They’re dog friendly!) Wow - we’re we pleasantly surprised. Room was immaculately clean with probably the best shower we’ve ever tried.  Comfy beds with excellent pillows! Stunning location and very helpful staff. Really excellent experience!

The staff went out of their way to help make our visit a success. Thoroughly recommended to other future groups. Rooms were fresh and tidy and everything was efficiently run but with a can do friendly and supportive attitude 

A great welcome with great customer care 

Stunning hostel located right along the seafront, stunning views from the hostel. Very clean, great kitchen and lounge room facilities. Ken and all the staff are amazing and helpful and make you feel at home. By far the best hostel in oban. Highly recommend.
